Saving and Rehoming Strays SCIO Saving and Rehoming Strays is a small SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) It is also NON-REFUNDABLE. Every single penny helps.

Saving and Rehoming Strays is a small SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation No SC051584) based in Scotland with a mission to rescue and rehome dogs in the UK. As well as UK dogs we also partner with organisations in Europe, principally Romania, to identify dogs in need and support their path to finding a forever home. We believe in rescue without borders and that every dog deserves a

n opportunity to find a family of their own. Saving and Rehoming Strays is run by small team, primarily volunteers, giving their time for admin, fundraising, and looking after of the dogs in our care plus experienced rescuers in Romania and the UK. We have a small rehoming centre in Scotland where our dogs will go for assessment, rehabilitation and ultimately rehoming in an environment not like traditional rehoming centres. Where appropriate our dogs live in groups and experience time with volunteers to allow them opportunity to socialise and get them ready to go to a new home. Alternatively, our dogs go to forever foster homes for their retirement. As a small rescue we have very little funding so are reliant on our supporters and donators to allow us to operate and to continue to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome. As a team we will aim to answer any questions as quickly as possible regarding the dogs or the adoption process. The adoption donation is £500 which goes towards our running costs including vets, transport, passports and looking after the dogs in our care. The adoptions donation is not a purchase fee but a donation to help us rescue other dogs. Meet our lovely new recruit 6 year old Shih Tzu Millie ❤️

Millie came into our care at the weekend after the sad passing of her mummy and had been under threat of being PTS by the family, had the ladies grandson not stepped in to offer a lifeline to her.

Sadly now rescues wanted to take Millie on as she is not spayed, needs surgery for her cherry eye and isn’t vaccinated 😪

We now have yet another older dog that is going to run up a big vets bill before we can rehome her and need to ask for your help again.

I’ve got Millie booked for surgery at the vets on Friday and she will be getting her first vaccinations at the same time ❤️

Hi Claire!! 💜 Everything has been amazing! We actually changed Stewart’s name to Ringo 🤩 But he has lots of cute nicknames like Burger Boy (after his favourite toy) 🤣 He has settled in so well and loves to be spoiled, which of course he is! You have made our lives so happy by choosing him for us. He really is the perfect boy for us! He is so comfortable with us now and really settled in. The rule of 3 really did work for us so well. Thank thank thank you!!!

Thanks to your amazing generosity and the equally amazing Debbie Nolan little Poppet arrived at DC this morning ❤️❤️❤️

After raising sufficient funds to travel her we found out that the transport were not coming to Scotland on this run, but luckily for us DC’s Auntie Debbie came to the rescue and offered to complete the second part of the run for us …

After taking delivery of Poppet in the early hours Debbie set straight off to Scotland and and delivered her safely before I’d even had my second coffee ❤️❤️❤️

Little Poppet certainly lives up to her name and is just THE sweetest little poppet you could wish to meet.

She is about 7 months old and just delightful. She loves people, dogs and even cats and I’m sure she’s not going to be with us for long xx

As you all know, I am not happy unless I have a “project” on the go and I cannot tell you how much joy the last one has bought me ❤️

Everything here is always done with the dogs as a priority and quite often the hoomans requirements takes a backseat and the lack of any sort of reception/office was a typical example of this.

I have done meets and greets through the winter in all weathers and it’s no fun for the dogs or the adopters, so we have bitten the bullet and now have a purpose-built reception on the yard ❤️

Of course it had to be stylish as well as functional and then I cannot tell you how much I love it ❤️❤️❤️

The space will also double as my office and it will be lovely to actually be able to sit down at a desk to do paperwork or even just have a cuppa (I’d never have thought that sitting down to drink a cup of tea would actually become something I considered to be luxury 😋).

So without further ado … Ta daaaah !!!

Muffin and Rupert the OG's of DC

Mr Muffin came into rescue many years ago back in 2014 when I was asked to take him by a friend in Germany. I was told he was very nervous dog, but nothing prepared me for quite how nervous he would be. When he first arrived at our pop up kennels in Essex he literally pee’d himself if you even looked at him He was taken on briefly by a rescue in Lincolnshire who promised to work with him, but during a chance phone call I discovered they were planning to euthanise him as he hadn’t made enough progress Needless to say I went and collected him straight away and bought him home and he has been with me ever since. He hasn’t made vast progression that he’s anywhere near what you’d expect a normal pet to be like, but he is no longer terrified of people, will take treats from your hand and LOVES his best pal Rupert and his group of friends - Gracie, Bentley and Juna. Muffin is now 10 years plus (DOB 11/04/2011) and I doubt he’s ever going to be a house dog, but he is happy living the life he leads and sometimes that just has to be enough

Ash came into rescue with her sister Caramel after we had successfully rehomed their mum. A total lack of human interaction as puppies had left the girls terrified of people and staying in kennels for the rest of their lives was not something that I could sit back and let happen to them. To people who haven’t known her since she arrived she probably still looks feral, but having seen her progress from then to where she is now I can assure you she has made giant leaps

Her sister Caramel sadly crossed to Rainbow Bridge earlier this year but Ash is part of the Giant Pawsway A Team with Smudge and Dax

Wilson is a long termer at DC and came onto our radar with all his brothers and extended family when the locals where they lived in Romania took to the streets to poison all the stray dogs Wilson has a very short failed adoption and has been here ever since. He is not good with strangers, will not accept a collar and is a very scared boy until you know him ... And then he will let you give him bum rubs until the cows come home

Dax came into rescue when the UK rescue that bought him over failed him after a biting incident with one of his adopters children when the child thought it was OK to sit on him Dax wasn’t well socialised with dogs or people as a puppy and as a result he loves who he loves and is very uncertain of strangers ... It is our intention to send him away to be properly assessed at some point prior to him being rehomed, but for now he has been accepted by and lives with his 2 girlie friends Smudge and Ash

I just love this little boy soooooo much ❤️❤️❤️ Ben was returned by his original adopter after 2 weeks because he would walk on a lead !!!I said to her at the time (as I say to many adopters) that he just needed more time to settle and that one day she would see a video of him enjoying his best life and regret her decision as he would end up being THE most amazing dog …I was right and her loss was definitely his next adopters gain and he has been the perfect little dot from day one with her and these two were 100% meant for each other ❤️❤️❤️ “Ben enjoying his best life with his pal's.
