A common asked question 👇🏽 😊
How does the water treadmill help?
This boy 🥰
Very VERY happy to say I have PASSED my first year of my Masters degree as a Equine and Canine Chiropractor! 🥹🥰
⭐️The Treadmill Incline ⭐️
One of my favourite things about the treadmill is the incline setting!
Although the length of time and water level is increased over the period of visits, some horses get to fitness levels where this isnt quite enough.
The good thing is…their fitness doesn’t have to plateau as we can implement this into their program to continue with their fantastic results!
Thankyou so much Jack!

Why is the water treadmill so useful during your horse’s rehab journey?
When rehabbing horses, it can be difficult to keep them on straight lines as we are restricted to an arena or hacking (which may not be suitable for many horses that have had little work).
This is where the water treadmill comes in, it is a great tool to utilise when bringing your horse back into work. The water provides buoyancy which reduces weight bearing throughout their limbs and encourages them to lower their head and work over their back reducing any chances of horses developing a lordotic posture (dipped back) which particularly helps those recovering from back injuries or kissing spine.
The water treadmill is also beneficial to horses with sacroiliac, hip, stifle, or hock injuries as the motion and straightness of the treadmill encourages them to take even strides and to not overcompensate.
It is massively beneficial for fitness, straightness and balance and provides you with a excellent foundation to proceed with ridden work.

** Customer Review** I’m absolutely amazed at willow’s progress so far!! 3 weeks in, and 2 visits a week (6 treadmill sessions) at HLS Equine Therapy. She runs onto that treadmill, and gets SO excitied for it to start 😂 she’s losing the weight and building her strength and fitness, giving her the best chance during her recovery! Huge thanks to jade for taking such good care of my girl, and Alison Leach for the moral support on almost every trip over 😂

* Your horses first treadmill session* Lots of pats for Buddy! 🥰 It just shows how intelligent and trusting these animals are! This is Buddy’s first ever session on the treadmill. You can see he takes a few minutes to find his feet and by the end of his 13 minute session (this will increase as he gets fitter) he is walking straighter and we have added the water When putting your horse on for the first time everything is taken very slow to make sure they are comfortable and calm before we shut them in and start the treadmill! As an owner seeing them finding their feet can probably be worrying however this is completely normal and I am trained to help them get the hang of it as quickly as possible! They are bigger and far stronger than us so we have to work with them and give them lots of praise and pats to make sure they enjoy their session and look forward to them 🥰
Introducing our Shockwave Machine! *( Veterinary Recommendation must be given for treatment to be carried out)* Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic waves to promote healing and reduce pain in various musculoskeletal conditions in horses and other animals. These shockwaves are high-energy sound waves that can penetrate deep into tissues. Targeting affected areas such as tendons, ligaments, joints, or other soft tissues. Shockwave therapy stimulates blood flow and promotes the release of growth factors, which can accelerate tissue repair and reduce inflammation. It can also help break down scar tissue and calcifications, enhancing the body's natural healing process. By promoting healing and reducing inflammation, shockwave therapy can help alleviate pain associated with various musculoskeletal conditions in horses. Shockwave therapy is commonly used in horses to treat conditions such as tendon and ligament injuries, osteoarthritis, back pain, and certain bone-related issues.
Lucy demonstating how much better her Range Of Motion (ROM) is when walking on the treadmill Lucy is an 18 years old Connie X Traditional X Arab. Due to her natural heavier build (breed specific to the traditional in her) the battle with her weight and arthritic changes in her hocks are something that needs to and has always been well managed. This doesn’t stop her from everyday exercise however, keeping her comfortable is her owners priority. By using the treadmill regularly her owner can keep her weight down while reducing excess strain on her joints, ligaments and her body as a whole!
