Remember it's New Years Eve tonight. Even if your pets are outdoor pets, it's a good idea to bring them in before any fireworks start. Startled pets are often pets that run, and sometimes, those pets get lost. Keep them safe, stay indoors. Happy New Year to all our clients this year and new ones to come.

Have you ever wondered what would happen to your cat/s if you passed away? Is there anyone in your family who would take responsibility, or are you digging your head in the sand, hoping someone else will help if the worst happened?

Today on the blog, I talk about the Cats Protection League and their cat guardian service, which can help take the heartache out of the future of our pets if they're left behind when we go.

What happens to your cat/s if you die? Have you ever thought about who will look after your cats if you pass away? It’s one of those things we often put off thinking about. None of us really …

Hi this cat has been hanging around our house since yesterday (middle brae area bucksburn). He/she slept in our garden and keeps trying to come inside, just wondering if anyone’s missing him/her. My four year old is getting attached 😬😊.

***Update Mando has returned home but he has serious injuries, he is currently under veterinary suoervision, we have everything crossed that he makes it through 🤞***
Injured cat missing! Derbeth Park area of Kingswells.
Our cat Mando has gone missing, after an injury and we would be grateful if anyone in the Derbeth Park area could look out for him 😢 He is limping so couldn’t have gone far, but may be hiding in bushes/open sheds. He is a brown tabby, quite a big boy, neutered and microchipped. Thank you. Please share

How good are you at reading cat behaviou?. A great wee infographic shared by the RPCA, which would be fabulous to explain simple body language for kids who are around cats a lot, and some adults too.

https://hollybobspetcare.com/cat-behaviour-101-basics/

Is your cat trying to tell you something? Cat behaviour is a big thing. One minute they’re purring and rubbing their faces on our legs, and the next, we can get a wee nip in the space of a ch…

Cat owners take notice.
26/06/2021

Cat owners take notice.

Do you own a cat? Then we are reminding you to check if your cat food is affected by a recent product recall.

This is due to a potential link to feline pancytopenia, a serious illness in cats.

The affected cat food products are listed here: www.food.gov.uk/CatFoodRecall

If your cat has eaten one of the recalled products and is showing any unusual behaviour or signs of being unwell, this could include any of the following acute symptoms:

🔴 lethargy

🔴 weakness

🔴 decreased appetite

🔴 pale gums

🔴 rapid breathing

🔴 bleeding from nose

🔴 bleeding into mouth

Then contact a vet immediately to book an examination.

If your cat has eaten one of the recalled products but is not showing signs of illness, you should still contact a vet for advice and possible testing. Also, continue to monitor your cat's behaviour for signs of illness or acute symptoms and book an examination immediately if these arise.

You should also immediately switch to a suitable alternative. A vet will be able to advise on this.

Finally, return the product to the store for safe disposal.

Coming into hotter weather again, keep an eye out for the health of your furry feline friends. Bobs was terrible for being sick on summery days, usually to do with weedkiller and the heat I think, but here's a short post on what to look out for with your furbabies.

https://hollybobspetcare.com/is-my-cat-sick-how-to-tell-if-your-cat-is-ill/

Cats are amazing at hiding illness. Before you notice anything is wrong, it’s likely they’ve been feeling off colour for quite a while, and if your cat isn’t the cuddly friendly t…

Police are warning social media users in the North East to be vigilant following a number of online frauds in the area.

Fraudsters are cloning people’s profiles on social media sites like Facebook. They create an account using the same name, display picture and other information which are obtained from victims account. Once cloned they send out phishing links to your friends list asking them to click on a link to a website or seeking money.

North East Division Crime Reduction Officer Constable Richard Russell said ‘Criminals are increasingly focussing their activities on various types of frauds and scams online. They will clone your social media account including your images and information. They don’t need to hack your account but if your friends list is open to the public they can use this to contact them pretending to be you. Once contact has been made they might claim financial hardship or seek to borrow some money as they have been in an accident. Friends try to help each other out so will often send money.

Regularly check your privacy settings on your social media accounts. Details of how to find the settings can be found at www.scotland.police.uk/advice-and-information/internet-safety/social-media.

Look at your accounts to see what personal details are public and who can see your friends list? You can often check if you have a cloned account by searching your name on the social media search menu and on internet search engines. Perhaps get your friends to check for you because the fraudster may already have blocked your account preventing you from finding it. Be cautious of getting new friends requests from people you thought you were already friends with online.

Be mindful that anyone looking to seek financial assistance from you online maybe part of a scam".

For further preventative digital and cyber advice visit the Police Scotland website.

It's warm outside again, and pets need protected. Dogs die in hot cars, so never leave them alone. It takes less than 20 minutes for a pet to die in a hot car, and temperatures can reach up to 60 degrees C, even in the shade, and with a window open. Don't do it. Dogs are baked from the inside out and the distress timer starts from the minute you close the car door and leave them.

If you find or see a distressed dog in a car:

Call 999 in the UK, and report it to the police. They will instruct you.
Another option is call the RSPCA in England and Wales ( 03001 234999) or the Scottish RSPCA (03000 999999)

If you are there when the dog is taken out of the car, check with a vet immediately.
