Reliance Kid and Ebendi doing a nice bit of steady work on the grass, both coming along nicely. We’ll try and run Reliance Kid in early October over hurdles, to get him going. Ebendi will probably run on the flat next time, to build his fitness up and give him some confidence after his bad fall. I’ve just been granted a flat license which could give us more options in the future with horses like Ebendi, or horses with similar profiles, and look forward to having horses to run under both codes.

We have Ebendi back cantering now, feeling good with himself. Reliance Kid is still coming along nicely, with some stronger cantering, and will hopefully run early October. Jack will be coming in to work in a week or so, and will try to get him built up, but we’re starting completely from scratch, and will be a good while before he sees a racetrack

Reliance Kid is coming along fine with his training, and all being well will be ready to run in around six weeks, early October. Ebendi will resume training tomorrow, and is now sound and rested after his fall a few weeks ago at Perth, pulled ligaments being the problem.

Reliance Kid coming along grand, steady away

I’ve been watching the racing docuseries these last weeks on ITV, Racing to Win, and have really enjoyed it. It’s great showing a lot of racing behind the scenes, concentrating on a handful of characters, who have good and open into their personal lives which spills over into their jobs in racing, which as anyone involved in any form of racing, turns into a way of life as opposed to a job. It isn’t perfect, and can be cliched, but hopefully will benefit National Hunt racing as more fan friendly, and help our sport when at the moment we need it most. My personal favourite is Nico Debonaville, I think he’s gold viewing!!

I’m afraid Ebendi will be sidelined for a few weeks after his hefty fall at Perth a couple of weeks ago. He’s strained ligaments in a couple of places, but after physio is looking a lot better, and is to be walked for six weeks before resuming training. Reliance Kid is back from the field, and has started light training.

Like to thank everyone for the concern over Bendi’s well being. It happens but the world stops for that split second that the horse hits the floor and both horse and rider rise again!

05/07/2024

Ebendi took a heavy fall at the second last hurdle yesterday, but thankfully both horse and jockey are both ok, both being stiff and sore. He was going ok, staying on through horses and might have ended up 3rd or 4th, but we’ll never know, and will fight another day.

04/07/2024

Ebendi runs at 5 20 at Perth, Callum Bewley rides. Competitive handicap, but we go there in good nick, and he ran a decent race around there last season.

01/07/2024

We have Ebendi entered for Perth on Thursday the 4th in a 3 miles handicap hurdle, and are definitely planning on running.

It is with mixed feelings we have decided to retire Moore Clouds, and let her have a new life as a brood mare while she is sound, and bowing out on her own terms. I have loved every moment of training her for a new syndicate of owners that have been an absolute pleasure to be around, and enjoyed some fantastic days with them, and can’t thank them enough for giving me a chance. I’d like to thank the lad’s who partnered her in her race’s, Ryan, Danny and Callum, as she’s not been a picnic, but all contributed to the success of her. She only had one way of running and that was to let her go on the lead and try to dictate the race from there, and see how we ended up. She loved running and jumping with a passion, but left everything on the track giving the lot to us, win or lose, but we loved her for it, and things won’t quite be the same without her, for us and all her owners, who enjoyed her. A true character, and charisma in spades, we’ll miss you running, but look forward to her next chapter.

13/06/2024

Moore Clouds has been finished for her holidays after sustaining a muscle tear in her hind end, and will be out to the field in a fortnight. Ebendi is in good nick and will hopefully run at Perth on July 4th

Ebendi looking well in the paddock at Fakenham, probably give him a school over fences, gives us another option

03/06/2024

We didn’t have the best of days yesterday I’m afraid with both horses finishing 5th, but we’ll beaten. Ebendi’s race turned into a bit of a dash which all happened too quick. Moore Clouds was pestered on the lead, and never got a breather in, and probably needs a step up in distance now. Both have come back ok, but tired after a long trip.

02/06/2024

We’re running both horses today at Fakenham, 2 35 and 3 10 and hoping for a good account from both of them. Callum coming down to ride them both.

28/05/2024

We’ve entered both Moore Clouds and Ebendi for Fakenham this coming Sunday. We’re going back to type with the mare, back to 2 miles and over fences. It’s a front runners track and she has form around there. Ebendi is a shot in the dark really, as the track is quirky, but it’s 3 miles, but he was balloted out of Cartmel last Sunday, so we’ll probably run.

Reliance Kid

18/05/2024

We have added a new horse to the stable yesterday when we purchased Reliance Kid at the Cheltenham sales. He’s a 5 year old, ran 3 times , finishing 2nd in his last point to point. He will be turned away to grass for a break in the next few days for a break, and then be prepared for an autumn and winter campaign. We’re looking to form a new syndicate with him.
