Well done to Emma and Bear for passing the KCGCDS Gold and to Joy and Guthrie and Lynn and Archie for passing our very own Platinum Award. Both of these Awards are challenging and they all aced it!
Next up was the Bronze Awards. These teams have worked hard this session and should be very proud of themselves
End of session and Kennel Club Good Citizen Awards for some of our class members. First up was the Puppy Foundation. What a fabulous group of puppies!
We had a fantastic day today at our workshop on impulse control and frustration tolerance with the fabulous Jane Ardern from WaggaWuffins Canine College. Once again thanks to Jane for making her annual pilgrimage to Scotland! and to Jane and Joyce for hosting us for a second day.
What can we say about yesterday?! Jane Ardern from WaggaWuffins Canine College came up to Scotland to assess the Gundog Club grades. We had 12 Grade one passes and 4 Grade Two passes. The teams have worked so hard in classes and we are so proud of them all. Well done all. Huge thanks to Jane for giving up her time to travel up and to Barbara for all her hard work as a steward. Huge thanks are also due to Jane and Joyce for hosting us once again!
We didn’t get a lot of photos on Saturday at the first classes of the new session of Goody Gundog as everyone was so busy! Some were getting ready for assessment, some were starting with foundations and all were building on behaviours a a step at a time
Want to try gundog style training, tapping into your dogs natural behaviours whilst having fun at the same time.
We have a space available in our Saturday 2.45pm class starting this Saturday. Get in touch if you’d like to book or get more info.
It’s been a funny old week in classes between the changing weather and using different venues to accommodate Gala Week and the weather. However, it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits as everyone has just got up and got on with it! Novice and Advanced were working on engagement and Kennel Club Good Citizen, Get Connected were focusing on engagement. Gundog was all about managing arousal and puppy classes were learning to be around other dogs. All in all a great week!
UPDATE: SOLD OUT
Jane Ardern is coming back to Scotland! As we have nabbed her services for another project on the Saturday this year is a one day workshop on impulse control and frustration tolerance. Jane's workshops are always very popular so don't delay book today! You can register through the attached link

The teams focused on finessing specific skills in this session of Goody Gundog. Stop whistle, retrieves and test prep were the order of the day!
We didn’t get a lot of photos at Rally class but we had a great session working on the behaviours need for two small courses and then running the courses. Good work from everyone!

Puppy Athera says “Does my bum look big in this?” 😂 We bet you can come up with better captions, let’s see them below!
It was graduation week for some of the classes this week. We had an outing to Redwood Meadows Dog Activity Park with the puppies and we had last day of school games with the Novice and Advanced with Hoopers, Rally, Wag It Games and Temptation Alley. Great fun as always and such great teams! We missed Daisy, Roxy, Echo, Skye, Dazzle and Gigi and will catch up with them in the next session.
Last class of this session of Rally on Monday. It was lovely to have the grass cut but the leftovers provided lots of distraction! We started with some skill building and engagement and finished with two different courses. It’s been a fab session and if you would like to join us for the next one you can register here https://bookwhen.com/tynewater/e/ev-saf6-20240527190000
It was a tad warm on Saturday for Goody Goody Gundog but we flexed for the weather to make the most of the shade and had a slightly earlier finish! We were working on directional drills this week with and without dummies!
Our rally classes don’t just focus on the courses we work on the underlying skills so we have happy dogs and polished behaviours.
Very productive day at Goody Goody Gundog classes on Saturday. The first class used drills to identify areas for development and the second class focused on building foundational skills specific to each team.
It was the all new Thursday last week! Get Connected were up first working on engagement and they were followed by Goody Goody Gundog who were finessing the foundations.
It was great to be back outside with our classes - training for the real world. Novice were catching up on some work from indoors and the Advanced were trying their hand at some Wag It Games.
For the last indoor class the Rally teams were working on their turns, heeling and stay.

We’ve been very quiet on the Tynewater pages as we have been busy with work and domestic responsibilities and our social media posts had to be put on hold. Brace yourself for photos galore as we catch up on both Tynewater pages 😀 First up is a few photos from the new session of Goody Goody Gundog. We didn’t get many photos due to the heavy rain 🌧️ It was the first class of the new session so it was all about foundations, building them or strengthening them!
Thank you for all your support over this last year. Our Instructors have had their share of ups and downs this year and you have all been there in support and we truly appreciate it. The Tynewater Gang are just the best! Hoping you all have a great time over the holidays and wishing you all the very best for 2024. We will see you all in the New Year.
Last week was the last classes of the session for Puppy, Junior, Novice and Advanced. We done everyone on gaining certificates for KC Puppy Foundation or IMDT Partnership Grades. Great job!
Wondering what Rally is all about? Want to have a go but not sure if it's for you and your dog? Here's what Sandra has to say about the impact Rally has had on her and her dog Lyra. My dog, Lyra, was only a puppy when we went into lockdown. When we came out of lockdown she found life very overwhelming showing this by lunging and barking at people and dogs that even looked at her. If she felt they were approaching her she would have an absolute meltdown escalating her actions to what looked quite an aggressive response. As a result I could only really walk her away from other people and dogs which, in itself, didn’t really help her. It was a really stressful time for her and me, there was very little enjoyment in walks and taking her out. Then along came rally! It was the dream answer to all her anxieties and stopped all her unsociable behaviour. Thanks to fabulous positive trainers like Tynewater Dog Training each rally move is a game/fun thing to do. She is now so focussed on doing the rally exercises that it out trumps other people and dogs in her vicinity. Having the love and enjoyment of this has meant that we could then slowly build her proximity to other people and dogs. So much so that this week she was off her lead around other dogs at rally class and didn’t bat an eyelid at them. I would have laughed at you a year ago if you’d told me that we would get that far. Rally has also cemented our bond and relationship. She completely trusts me that off we are doing rally there is no need to worry about anything else. Definitely a lot more tail wagging than she had before. We have done some competitions but it is the training I love and would quite happily not compete. The rally community has been so supportive - giving her extra space and helping when she has struggled. I’ve made some great friends and it doesn’t matter that she doesn’t always get things right in the ring. It’s more about doing something with your dog and having masses of fun. T
A great session of Goody Goody Gundog at the weekend, working on directionals and foundations of retrieve.
The last one! Day 24 Christmas Eve and we are looking for your dog to nudge something over! You have until 31b December to catch up. A small reward will wing its way to all the participants. Tell us how many logos you can find across all 24 days and you might win a prize!
