Morning everyone,

I hope you're all a little more cheerful than the weather is right now.❄️❄️

I have a extra special little character I would like you all to meet.🐀🐁🐭

This is Roland the rat.

He was born out of a horrible experience I had walking home one late afternoon not so long ago.

All I heard was Kill the F #&King rat and alot of young children wadding through flower beds with phone touches....

There was a good dozen children, I'm rubbish with ages, but all had uniforms on so must have been of school age +

That poor little animal, probably terrified but hopefully smart enough to get out.

We should be teaching children to respect wildlife and cherish them not try and kill them....I'd hate to imagine what would have happen should they have found this animal....

Respect the things that were here way before we were....

Explore the world of pet portraits with Victoria Platt aka The Animal Sketcher in coloured pencil; begin with colouring a realistic nose.

Day 3 - Looking Back - be make / moment

This one was easy, hands down best moment was seeing my brand and style emerging. When you realise that you have a signature so to speak. People say

'You're the greyhound logo lady, I've seen you'

it's the best feeling in the 🌎 world.

The Animal Sketcher came out of 2 things my love of drawing and my unconditional love for every animal, including spiders....*shivers*

I was a cheap skate and use to draw my families presents 🎁, as you do, but then I was asked for a portrait and it all went from there.
So, I'm still a cheap skate but I also get to see the beautiful reactions of people when they realise they have am enduring memory of their beloved pet to keep.

Its not what I do, or even how I do it, but why I do what I do.....I provide a memory of a loved pet, letting them live on long after they've gone.

Day 2 - where I work / My favourite place.....



So, there's the reality and the fantasy side of that statement....

In reality I work anywhere I can sit, it's all very portable which is one of the reasons I swapped from watercolours to coloured pencils. I have a drawing desk for when I need a bit of support but otherwise if its nice out I love nothing more than sitting in the garden listening to nature....I'm an outdoors person.

So now to the fantasy side or better still my favourite place.....and simply put that's the beach any beach, be it British or further afield, I'm a Pisces ♓️ and I love the water, hence the scuba thing as well....
....when the ocean calls I answer...I'm at peace on the beach.

How did I miss National Pet Remembrance Day? I mean how.......

Well, better late to the party than never.....my other half can back this up 🤭

We possibly love our pet more than most humans in our lives and when they make their journey over that final bridge we blub for days....or at least I did.😬

You could murder them half the time, but my goodness we wouldn't be without them.

It's not to often I'm rendered speechless, but when a lovely lady walks up to you and asks to buy a piece of your artwork... and is deadly serious (jaw falls open), the only words that come out are thank you......
....I know.....the only words as apposed to the million normally tumbing out......

It's an amazing feeling to sell a piece of work....🎨🖌✏️

When all you need is a dog 🐕.

I knew that he wasn't going to be around forever but when you desperately need a cuddle you miss them infinity more. He was a girls best friend, confidant and all round partner in crime....the tissue ripping type. He was the most ridiculous dog in the world.
...but, do you know what, with out him Victoria Platt - The Animal Sketcher wouldn't exist.

He is the soul reason my brand is here today, from what started out as me being a cheap skate and drawing peoples Christmas 🎄 presents to now being the best thing to do, I have my beautiful black Irish greyhound to thank for that.

So....what do I do when the world around you is grey, I pick up the reddest pencil I have (it would be a toss up between scarlet and tiefeot deep and I draw other peoples dogs and for that I am grateful.

I continue to be a cheap skate and draw my families presents, but I also get to share in the wonderful reactions I get when those portraits are opened by others.
