Introduce and improve flock genetics sustainably!
🐑

🐑
Address a variety of breeding improvement goals with this procedure.

High welfare standards, respect the environment, maximising output and ultimately meet the buyers' needs while matching their expectations of the product, to mention a few.

Utilise one high quality ram, while minimising disease spread and introducing new and better genetics. Tighten the lambing season and aim it at a time of high demand in lambs. More efficient, targeted growth for the lambs based on the newly introduced genetics. All that while utilising staff more efficiently at busy periods. 👇

Hoofcare for vets: A whole new world of exciting clinical approaches!
🐄
🐄
🐄
Hoofcare techniques need to adopt to the cow and her environment. An increasing demand on advanced surgical techniques of the bovine foot, is one of the factors that drive hoofcare methods to become more refined.

There are welfare and financial benefits for a cow and the whole herd from applying the most appropriate technique. Some chronically lame cases can be resolved with surgery of the foot, but they require enhanced anaesthetic techniques.

It’s with this in mind that we offer a practical and interactive one day course on hoof trimming techniques and minor surgical procedures on the foot to veterinary surgeons. A blended course, that is online and farm based. Focus on cadaver feet for intravenous regional anaesthesia, nerve blocks, debriding lesions, flushing of the joint and how and when to resort to digit amputation. 👇

From utilising feed for ewes carrying singles to marketing barren ones when market prices are favourable. Sheep Scanning tips!
🐑

Feeding the ewes in preparation for lambing, should not be guesswork. It should depend on the number of lambs they are carrying.

Whether an animal is pregnant or not, how may lambs is carrying, these are important decisions that improve your management and save money. Bringing in efficiencies for the flock’s reproduction can yield massive benefits to the enterprise.

Would you like to practice external transdermal ultrasound scanning for your flock? Look no further as this course is for you! 👇

Improved Cow Welfare, effective milk yields, and many more. This is why we dynamically test the milk parlour!
🐄
🐄
🐄
During a dynamic test, the milk parlour is being tested while the cows are being milked. At that time, the milk plant is under stress and will behave differently to the static one. Some cows are in full milk-flow, others are finishing milking or some have kicked the units off.

A milk plant will perform differently when it is under stress. All cows in, units on, kicked off units leaking air into the system, high volume of milk being drawn. It is not the static, but the dynamic test that will reveal those shortcomings.

With the dynamic test we use one of more vacuum trace recorder devices, which produce graphs similar to an ECG (electro-cardio-gram). This allows us to assess the health of the milk plant.
We shall give your milking plant the attention it deserves, ensuring we uncover underlying issues. We shall test your milk machine using the latest equipment available, we normally connect three Vadia devices in the milk lines, one Vadia and one ATV devices in the pulsation lines. 👇

Abdominal surgery without antibiosis as the norm? For endoscopic operations this is usually the case …
🐄
🐄
🐄
The choice and availability of antibiotics is under constant scrutiny, including the selection of antibiosis post-operatively.

No matter how exceptional the laparotomic surgeon is, there are some penalties we pay for the incision size, manipulation of the gut and added to all these, most times we need to use post-operative antibiotics. Laparoscopic correction or exploration is a totally different approach, with the biggest incision being 1.5cm long, manipulation of the gut is passive and most times there is no need for post-operative antibiosis.

Carry out minimally intrusive surgical technique that allows cows to promptly return to expected yields with less need for antibiotics. All this with affordable and high quality instruments, so that every large animal vet can readily carry out endoscopy in the field. 👇

The powerhouse of your reproductive improvement, your bull. Test it or risk going backward!
🐄
🐄
🐄
40% of bulls we semen test on average are subfertile or plainly infertile. This is consistent with Scottish studies in 2005 and US work also.

If a bull is sub-fertile or simply firing blanks, it is usually too late when it becomes apparent. Some of the signs are cows returning on heat and negative pregnancy scans. Seasonal breeding targets will be missed, ie 60% of cows PD+ within 6 weeks or 90% within 9 weeks. These have a considerable management and financial impact on the herd.

Pre-breeding or pre-sale examination a relatively easy procedure, given the right handling facilities and can identify issues with subfertility or infertility. 👇

0, 1, 2, 3… Forewarning you, before lameness becomes a serious issue in your herd!
🐄
🐄
🐄
An increasing number of milk buyers are requiring that at least once a year a score of cows’ mobility by an approved person is carried out on farm.

Not only lameness affects welfare and production, it can impact on your relationship with your milk buyer. Regular independent mobility scoring is the beginning of addressing the issues and ultimately reducing lameness.

We can train you to assess cow mobility, benchmark and analyse further data ranging from foot trimmer’s findings to how long time cows are standing. All this is essential information in understanding the causes of lameness in the herd and help us improve hoofcare on farm. 👇

The cow is the centre of the universe!

🐄
Cows do not have the same hoof length, as all people do not wear a universal shoe size.

As it would not be right for you to be forced to wear someone else’s shoe size, likewise a cow should not be assumed to have a universal hoof length.

Develop a two-way narrative, based on what the cow is telling us. Adapt your hoofcare skills for different cow bodyweights, ages, management and grazing systems. 👇

Multiple ovulation and embryo transfer offers high pedigree embryos implanted in crossbred recipients, animals that would be ideal in rearing such valuable offspring. 👇

Introduce innovation in your dairy cow weekly routine and continue working closely with your vet!
🐄
🐄
🐄
Introduce further efficiencies on how you manage the fertility of your dairy and suckler herd. Treat the pregnancy diagnosis of cattle as a weekly task, like drying cows off and preventative foot trimming, minimising their waiting time and disruption of their daily routine.

It is important to know if your cows are pregnant, as the biggest gains in cattle fertility management are made by identifying those animals that are not in-calf, early. This is beneficial for cow and herd, further improving your productivity and finances.

Identify which cows are not pregnant early and present those to your vet to treat promptly. Save time and money, while you do that while maintaining your working relationship with your vet! 👇

2 more years! Marginal gains for enhanced welfare and increased profitability…
🐄
🐄

Improving profitability and advancing welfare on farm is an ongoing task.

Reducing disease on farm, starts with detecting the early warning signs of it. The high humidity, before the calves start coughing. The uneven weight bearing, before lameness starts. The deteriorating teat score, before mastitis strikes.

Applying CowSignals in herd management is a structured way to measure welfare and productivity. An early warning system that covers critical aspects of your enterprise, water, air, light, rest, space and feed. Train yourself and your staff in becoming more aware, more efficient and focusing on what matters to your enterprise. 👇
