Snow day 🥳🥳🥳🥳

❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

Managed to get Dill out because he couldn’t miss out but bless him for the first time I think he could really feel the cold. Probably because he has no body fat or much muscle at the moment. He still loves it though ❤️

These are all mine….

I’m sure everyone loved the sun being out yesterday but it was a right pain for photos! Could have done with a cloud or two!

It was the perfect trip out for Dill though, he got to see a lot and do some posing without actually doing much exercise. He got the sign off from the vets on Saturday so long slow road to fitness can start. He really is a lucky dog to be alive still ❤️

Dill playing gundog on Sunday. Of course he was very predictable and went out, got the dummy and then went to where dummy thrower was because obviously more dummy’s there… he then came back and saw the big box of dummy’s so went straight there… he did obviously eventually make it back to Paul. I mean he proved the point we made a few seconds before that easy retrieves are boring so you have to go do some more work yourself 🤣

He did do some great hunting for dummy’s though but we are also pretty certain he ran over it a few times to hunt the whole area before deciding that it was okay to suddenly find the dummy and return it to hand 😂

Always the clown of the class ❤️

Tridog ‘24. Dill’s 10th triathlon at and it was eventful to say the least! Paul and Dill had the best time racing Saturday, honestly Dill just comes alive at tridog it is his favourite and I’m not sure anyone can watch him at that race and say otherwise. Unfortunately as they were about to enter the water Sunday the race was called off by the venue due to lightning over head - Dill was very angry about the whole thing and made his thoughts known to everyone. Paul did manage to get him to calm down but it’s not the easiest explaining to a dog that we were about to race but now we aren’t - especially when it’s Dill!

However Saturday’s racing was brilliant, with all the worry about his fitness (he is not fit at all) and injury niggles we literally had no clue if he would finish the race or whether Paul would end up pulling him out at some point. Dill is Paul’s comfy pair of slippers though and once he was out there that was it. Paul did get told off for being too relaxed and chilled through transition and that he looked like he was stopping for a picnic only for us to look at times and see he had the 3rd fastest transition time 🤣 the pair of them are consistent, obviously Dill is getting slower he is almost 10.5 years old now but it’s all about fun with them and who knows what would have happened if Sunday’s race had happened.

We did get some incredible goodies though with the triathlon bags being full of yummyness which we know the dogs love as both munsters are thriving on their food! Then getting .uk and other goodies in our marshal bags for helping out all weekend. It was a weekend that threw a lot at the organisers, so much at them but they were amazing, the event was amazing and though it felt somewhat emotional this weekend it will always be the best event out there. Will have to just get Dill to his 11th one now 😅

Happy 6th birthday Raven ❤️

Might not seem like it but it’s a big one this year. We had in our minds she may never reach 6 years old because of her spine and the issues she has with it but here we are, trying different pain meds but still very much the needy feral creature she has always been ❤️

We love you Raven, happy happy birthday!

This is quite possibly my most favourite photo of Lily doing agility. The photo was taken by Dave Midgley at AgilityNuts and I just adore it.

Ironically it’s on the dog walk that all the drama is about but the dog walk stuff has made me think. Why is it you only see agility people make such a fuss about safety? I’m in a lot of sport groups on FB and I think it’s probably safe to say that the majority of competitors in all sports don’t warm their dogs up or cool them down. I know the sleddog sports are horrific at it, I have spoken to IPG people who have been laughed at for taking their dogs to physios to keep them healthy. Agility appears (and it might be just an appearance?) to have more people care about these things than others.

Then don’t get me started on things like mantrailing which without doubt is the most misleading thing out there. Marketed as low impact and safe but yet you will be lucky to ever see a dog doing it in a harness that actually fits and they are always throwing their body into it and pulling - which granted is the point but that puts a lot of pressure through the dogs body. It’s not low impact at that point. I’m sure some dogs don’t pull and just trot ahead but another one where I would be willing to bet the dogs aren’t warmed up and cooled down after because it’s not seen as a sport but still putting a lot of stress on the dogs body. To be fair probably not an issue for most dogs but when you see it advertised for dogs that have injuries/illnesses etc… I have seen plenty mantrailing putting more effort and strength into their harness than I have seen canicrossing.

Find it funny how people see things. In the end it’s all about looking after your dogs and goodness we did all the conditioning, hydro, everything but it can’t always help against some stuff. In general though we have dogs that people never believe are the age they are and for the most part still enjoy some level of sports with us even if not competitively.

Anyway that is my Tuesday morning musings for the day. I miss agility so much, I did genuinely love the training, challenges etc. one day I will get back to it!

We are on countdown to tridog now… just over a week and we will be heading down to Bedford. Dill’s 11th tridog event and 10th triathlon. Little man’s first race experience.

We have a few more sessions at the dog pool booked for Dill and going to take one of the others with him each time too. We have been so worried he wouldn’t make it to the start line but so far we seem to be doing okay at the moment! Huge thanks to our vets and mostly to Tori for coming out and sorting him constantly.

I think realistically this will be his last tridog but he is a stubborn old bu**er so we will see what happens.

Can’t wait till tridog 🥳

It’s been a long time since I have photographed the dogs and to be honest I really need to do it more. They aren’t getting any younger.

We still have lots going on, basically have our own seat at the vets. Honestly though Witham View Veterinary Surgery are the best vets and I’m so grateful they are open and honest with us which allows us to make the best decisions for the dogs.

Time goes quickly! Having a baby has made that so much more evident. So trying to remember to enjoy the dogs as much as we can ❤️

Grateful for a poor summer that allows us to bike and run the dogs! Obviously now it’s getting too hot so we will be inside in front of the fans watching the Olympics until summer goes again and we can get back out on the bike again.

The dogs love to run so much ❤️

We may have also been planning little man’s first bikejor, the irony that it may end up with Mozi as he is probably our steadiest dog 😂

However is currently having an IBD flare so will see how this goes. Really hoping we don’t have to up his steroids again 🤞

It’s been 8 months since life changed a lot for us all but we are slowly getting into a routine - which I’m sure will get thrown out the window once I go back to work! For now though morning walks are a great way of starting a day when you are severely sleep deprived. It’s been nice having warm but not hot mornings to walk down the fen, it’s so peaceful.

I have a love hate relationship with the fen, it’s the issue with Lincolnshire, it’s so damn flat. So you can walk for literally hours and feel like you haven’t gone anywhere which I find disheartening! Saying that it’s also easy to do a good length walk without necessarily realising because you just keep walking and then have to turn around to go home! I do prefer a good circular walk though, of which there are very few of here!

Hope everyone going to The Game Fair has a great time, one day we will actually make it there 🙈

Our Story

Our dogs are always first and foremost are our pets. We adore them, they live with us and spend most of their time on our sofa and bed!

Lily is our rescue Springer cross and adores her agility, she has done amazingly in the short time she has competed, qualifying for Discover Dogs at her 4th show! She finished her second season winning into Grade 4 and is hoping to qualify for the Novice ABC in 2018, if she doesn’t succeed then we have a plan for 2019! Dill, our Large Munsterlander, and Paul placed 16th in the World Rankings 2016/2017, with a national UK ranking of 4th. It is a sport the pair of them work together and adore. Dill has previously competed in working gundog tests and has more recently started training in agility. He has also been used in a number of scientific research studies and has shown there really is no end to his talents!

Mozi is a purpose bred race dog, otherwise known as a Greysther. He hasn’t ran in harness yet, as mentally we feel he isn’t quite ready. He will hopefully start within the next couple of months. He is an amazing boy to live with, so sweet and loving. Hopefully he has a bright future! Our dogs are sponsored by K9 Trail Time and we are super grateful for all the support we have been given!
