Photos of Raven from last weeks race by Sherwood Outpaw.

Paul really enjoyed the course, said it was quite a good one! What he didn’t like was after the start times had been put back by 15 minutes (which was communicated!) - timing it perfectly to get down to his start exactly on time to then be made to wait around for an extra 10 minutes with no reasoning as why or any idea when they were going to start - which when you are on your own and having to warm yourself and your dog up is not helpful especially when it’s freezing cold and you are standing in ankle deep slush.

It’s a bit frustrating really. Paul very nearly just went home and didn’t run at all because of the lack of communication. We have to be careful with Raven and her back especially in really cold weather, they had to hang around so long in freezing temperatures not knowing if their race would even start that Paul was getting worried about her.

No idea what their time or placing was in the end as he went to prize giving and it didn’t happen and no one was around to find out if it was delayed and how long by, so he understandably came home to look after himself and Raven (especially Raven!). There have been no results which for a race is a little odd.

Unsure as to whether we would go again or recommend it. The communication was great till the first race was cancelled then it got awful, replies to emails were rude when trying to find out what was going on. The course was good though so hopefully the organisers have learnt from their mistakes and can improve it going forward.

Just to reiterate due to comments about the issues at the race being because the weather. The weather made it worse yes but the issues were not the weather or due to the weather. It was poor communication before, during and after the event alongside the rude email replies.

Really hope their next one is better, would be so good to have a race near by.

Dill’s recovery post bloat has probably been much slower than it maybe needed to be but he is a 10.5 year old dog and we didn’t want to go risking anything with him.

Annoyingly he did loose a lot of weight and we are struggling to get that back on but I think some of that is muscle wastage so if we can build up some muscle hopefully that will help 🤞

Today was his second go back in harness, just doing short 3km ish loops. He loves to run in harness, I’m so glad we are able to get him back doing what he loves so much. Hopefully we can build him back up enough to bikejor again as well.

Recovery is slow going but he is a happy fluffy dog now ❤️

Hope everyone has a great day, whatever your plans are!

These four are being spoilt in the old fashioned way of wrapping up toys they haven’t played with in a while because let’s face it they really only care about unwrapping and ripping paper apart!

She was supposed to have her first race last week but it was cancelled due to the storm so first race this week at the sprout scuttle! First time there for all of us and it was a lovely technical trail which I think we will definitely be back for again!

They came 3rd which wasn’t too shabby being neither Paul or Raven are fit or in shape at the moment. Will be watching Raven over next few days to see how she recovers physically. She won’t ever be Dill level when racing but she went off the start like a rocket and was so good passing the other dogs. Super proud of our little squiggles ❤️

Came up on FB today that this fluffy dude - who really lacked fluff back then - had his first bikejor race 9 years ago.

This dog has achieved so much in his 9 years including racing and placing at nationals in 3 different disciplines (canicross, bikejor and scooter), top 20 placing in the elite bikejor class at the IFSS Europeans and of course all his tridog placings. There were multiple placings at other races and race series too.

It’s a complete unknown as to whether he will race again, we will see what happens but this dog has had a hell of a race career. Can’t ask for a better race dog really and sometimes it is easy to forget all the training that had to take place in the early days to get him to listen.

Ah fluffy dog, what a life you have lived. Let’s see how rehab goes and whether we can get you back in harness. Hydro will hopefully help a fair bit 🤞 he is 8 weeks post GDV op on Saturday and as far as he is concerned can do what ever he likes and should be the centre of all attention even more so than before 🤦‍♀️

I really cannot explain how urgent or important it is that this bill is looked at more thoroughly and isn’t just passed.

A lot of the dog breeds within the UK have a shrinking genetic diversity - even breeds that appear to have lots of dogs still has a shrinking genetic population. This is for many reasons but bringing in puppies from abroad that will hopefully be used in breeding programs is one of the only ways to save some of these breeds.

So why is this an issue?

Simple - bringing up a puppy is hard work. It’s a lot to ask a breeder to hold on and raise a puppy till 15 weeks but there are very few that will have the time to raise one properly till 6 months, especially if they are keeping a puppy themselves.

So why can’t we just take dogs abroad to mate them?

There is nothing stopping this and it will also always be encouraged but life doesn’t always make these things doable. Where as importing a pup means that when the time comes they are here.

Bringing in this rule will compromise the health of dogs within breeds and more so those breeds where due to the small gene pool the health is already compromised. This is a welfare issue for dogs already in the UK and those not born yet.

Please please email your MP and copy in the two email addresses listed below. It really is so important this bill does not pass as is.

Link to template letters can be found on the KC website: https://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/about-us/campaigns/puppy-imports/

FOLKS! 👋 URGENT! If you're in the UK, you can do something really important to help your beloved breeds of dog..... 👍

As you might know, there have been rumblings for a while that a BAN ON THE IMPORTATION OF PUPPIES UNDER 6 MONTHS is potentially coming. 😫 This would be devastating for pedigree dogs in the UK, which are already suffering small gene pools and high COIs. 😓 We rely on being able to import pups from abroad to preserve genetic diversity....

Whilst the reason behind this is to prevent the mass import of puppy-farmed pups from Europe, sadly it means that responsibly bred puppies with valuable genetic material will get caught up in this as well - UNLESS there is some mechanism in place to allow responsible importers in the UK to be able to continue to import pups. 🙏

**We urgently need you to email your MP** because this will be debated on 29th Nov. The RKC has made it really easy to email, with a template you can copy and paste into an email to send (edit it to suit) and a link to find your MP. You can find it at the bottom here: https://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/about-us/campaigns/puppy-imports/

👍It is crucial that Dr Danny Chambers is copied in on all emails sent to MPs at [email protected] and the Animal Welfare Minister Baroness Sue Hayman at [email protected]

👍It is very important that you include your full address at the end of the email. MPs will not respond to communications that lack this information.

Thank you, from me and Roche..... 🐾 who has entirely French/Belgium lines on one side and entirely US lines on the other, and not a drop of UK blood in her. She would not be here, in the UK - hopefully going to widen the UK gene pool in future - if we had had to wait to 6 months to get her.... 😞

Managed to get Dill out because he couldn’t miss out but bless him for the first time I think he could really feel the cold. Probably because he has no body fat or much muscle at the moment. He still loves it though ❤️

These are all mine….

I’m sure everyone loved the sun being out yesterday but it was a right pain for photos! Could have done with a cloud or two!

It was the perfect trip out for Dill though, he got to see a lot and do some posing without actually doing much exercise. He got the sign off from the vets on Saturday so long slow road to fitness can start. He really is a lucky dog to be alive still ❤️

Dill playing gundog on Sunday. Of course he was very predictable and went out, got the dummy and then went to where dummy thrower was because obviously more dummy’s there… he then came back and saw the big box of dummy’s so went straight there… he did obviously eventually make it back to Paul. I mean he proved the point we made a few seconds before that easy retrieves are boring so you have to go do some more work yourself 🤣

He did do some great hunting for dummy’s though but we are also pretty certain he ran over it a few times to hunt the whole area before deciding that it was okay to suddenly find the dummy and return it to hand 😂

Always the clown of the class ❤️

Our Story

Our dogs are always first and foremost are our pets. We adore them, they live with us and spend most of their time on our sofa and bed!

Lily is our rescue Springer cross and adores her agility, she has done amazingly in the short time she has competed, qualifying for Discover Dogs at her 4th show! She finished her second season winning into Grade 4 and is hoping to qualify for the Novice ABC in 2018, if she doesn’t succeed then we have a plan for 2019! Dill, our Large Munsterlander, and Paul placed 16th in the World Rankings 2016/2017, with a national UK ranking of 4th. It is a sport the pair of them work together and adore. Dill has previously competed in working gundog tests and has more recently started training in agility. He has also been used in a number of scientific research studies and has shown there really is no end to his talents!

Mozi is a purpose bred race dog, otherwise known as a Greysther. He hasn’t ran in harness yet, as mentally we feel he isn’t quite ready. He will hopefully start within the next couple of months. He is an amazing boy to live with, so sweet and loving. Hopefully he has a bright future! Our dogs are sponsored by K9 Trail Time and we are super grateful for all the support we have been given!
