Did you know that over 80% of dogs show signs of dental disease by the age of three? Keeping your dog's teeth healthy isn’t just about fresh breath—it’s essential for their overall health.

Here are 3 quick tips for happy, healthy doggy smiles:
1️⃣ Brush Up! Use a dog-friendly toothbrush and toothpaste to gently clean their teeth. (Tip: Never use human toothpaste—it’s toxic for dogs!)

2️⃣ Chew It Over: Dental chews and toys can help reduce plaque and tartar build-up while keeping your pup entertained.

3️⃣ Regular Check-ups: Make dental checks part of your vet visits to catch any issues early.

What’s one thing you think would make life easier for dog owners or dog businesses in your area? 🐾💡

The RMS Titanic not only carried human passengers, but also had twelve dogs on board. Among them were various breeds, including a French Bulldog, a Pekingese, a Fox Terrier, two Pomeranians and a Great Dane. These dogs were a symbol of the wealth and status of some of the passengers, but their fate on this fateful voyage was as tragic as that of the ship.

When the Titanic sank, the chaos on board led to difficult decisions. Of the twelve dogs, only three survived: a Pekingese and two Pomeranians. These smaller breeds were easier to hide and were probably smuggled onto the lifeboats, giving them a rare chance of survival.

One of the tragic stories of that night is that of Elizabeth Isham, a 50-year-old passenger whose devotion to her Great Dane was exemplary. When the Titanic sank, Isham was told that her Great Dane was too large to be placed on a lifeboat. Faced with this heartbreaking decision, she chose to stay with her dog instead of leaving him behind.

Days after the Titanic sank, Elizabeth Isham's body was found, still clinging to her beloved Great Dane.

Dogs can’t tell us when they’re freezing, but they do show signs if they’re uncomfortable.

Watch out for:

🥶 Shivering or trembling: Just like humans, shivering is a sign they’re trying to warm up.
😫 Whining or whimpering: Your dog might be telling you they’re not happy out there.
🐾 Lifting paws or refusing to walk: Cold or icy ground can be painful on bare paw pads.
🥺 Lethargy or weakness: This can indicate hypothermia—a serious condition that requires immediate attention.
🏡 Curling up or seeking shelter: If your dog is trying to find a warm spot, it’s time to bring them inside.

If you notice any of these signs, cut the walk short and warm your dog up gradually with blankets or snuggles indoors 🥰

It may not be snowing where you are right now, but this is important information that all dog owners should know about at this time of year.

GRIT AND SALT CAN BE A DANGER TO YOUR DOG ‼️‼️‼️

Grit and de-icing salts are abrasive and can irritate your dog’s paw pads, causing dryness, cracking, or even cuts. Worse still, if your dog licks their paws after a walk, they could ingest toxic chemicals from the salt, leading to gastrointestinal upset or more serious issues like salt poisoning.

If you suspect your dog may be suffering from poisoning Veterinary Poisons Information Service and Animal PoisonLine is an excellent 24 hour resource that could save you a trip to to the vet, or (in more extreme cases) even save your dog's life.

Want to know how Wooflinks got started? I’m sharing my story on Rachel Spencer's Your Pet Business, Your way podcast this week! 🎙️

I had no contacts in the pet care industry, no experience beyond being a dog mum of 5 and running a small online directory in lockdown, and definitely no idea how to build a platform like this.

But I believed in the idea of connecting dog owners with trusted, ethical pet professionals - and that belief kept me going.

I’m chatting to Rachel about...
🐾 How I went from no industry knowledge to creating a growing platform for dog owners and professionals.
🐾 The support and inspiration I got from amazing people like Rachel Bean, who helped me understand the world of pet care and gave me so so much help.
🐾 The challenges of juggling two kids under two, running another business, ADHD and imposter syndrome, while building something from scratch.
🐾 Why I stand by “Be the wind, not the leaf” and why I love going out and creating content for Wooflinks supporters.

If you’re a dog professional, there’s also info on how to set up a free listing on www.wooflinks.co.uk to make it easier for dog owners to find you.

We hear a lot about protecting our dogs in the heat, but what about the cold?

Dogs may have fur coats, but that doesn’t mean they’re immune to the cold. Just like humans, dogs have different tolerance levels for chilly weather depending on their breed, age, health, and coat type.

Here’s a rough temperature guide to help you gauge when it’s time to bundle up or stay indoors 💛🐾

Feel free to share with your friends and followers!

In recent years it seems like most people are putting coats on their dogs in the winter. Do you think they are necessary, or is our caring need for our dogs being exploited by the retail industry?

Let's settle the debate!
