Have I said recently that I love my job? 🤔
We’ve been working on Eloise keeping Viv in a rhythm and trying not to interfere with her too much. Viv can be very reactive and has been known to throw some gymastic shapes, so trying to keep her attention whilst maintaining an essence of teamwork can be tricky for Eloise.
Today Eloise entered her first 115cm and posted a lovely double clear (although I did nearly have heart failure at the final double 🫣), coming second by just 0.4 of a second!
Very pleased for this talented combination and excited to see what the winter showjumping season is going to look like for them 😁
Woohoo, I’m back! 🥳🤩😍
It feels soooo good to be back out doing what I love with my riders who have very patiently waited for me to return to work 🥰
Here’s a short clip of Amy and Kato, working on rhythm in the canter into and between fences this afternoon 😁
BADMINTON GRASSROOTS 2024
I can’t put into words how proud I am of these two. What a blast. All the training has paid off.
Climbing from 91st after dressage to 27th after xc as a 6 year old is PHENOMENAL.
There were tears as she crossed the finish line!
Getting into that showjumping swing with Eilis & Rudy 👌
Come eventing with us!

Why to walk a show jumping course - you can’t see everything from watching others jump!
And we’re hitting the Autumn training hard with Jade and Ginge! Ginge can be a sod for running out at skinny fences, he isn’t always the straightest, and he’s super clever. This grid did two things - it helped Jade’s confidence to know she can ride through some trickier fences and keep him straight and in front of her, and it encouraged Ginge to read the question and react to the jumps appropriately. Although you can see he doesn’t give the cavelletti much respect 😆 #eventertraining #eventer #gridwork #eventcoach #coachingforexcellence #jadeandginge
And we’re back in Staffordshire!
What a brilliant day, 7 jump sessions and one dressage session, everyone smashed it today!
Thank you Mansty Racing and Livery for letting me use your lovely facilities.
Looking forward to seeing you all again in 2 weeks time 👌
Another weekend, another success story!
Jade ventured out to her first competition in 25 years (yes, you have read that right!), having only returned to horses two years ago. She had a rather challenging time with her previous horse, who really knocked her confidence, but now she has the legend that is Ginge to show her the ropes.
Eland Lodge Equestrian put on a lovely day, the ground was good, and Jade pulled a double clear on a 39.5 dressage out of the bag to come 8th, having only owned Ginge for 4 weeks!
I’m really pleased with Jade’s progress and her change in confidence, now to add that to the (dreaded) dressage phase and she’ll soon be in the ribbons!
Lovely morning at Eland Lodge Equestrian with Zoe, who’s mare, Beau, can be a little head strong. We’ve been working on control and discipline in the arena over poles and coloured fences, so now it was time to put it into practise in an open space. We started by relaxing Beau in the warm up arena using lots of circles in walk, weaving in and out between the fences and keeping her as supple as possible. We then did the same in trot, before seeing a couple of rather explosive canter transitions. So we started to jump from walk. Jumping from walk is a great tool to encourage a horse to use their whole body over a fence, push through from behind, and learn that rushing into a fence isn’t necessary. We progressed around the course until Zoe felt comfortable enough to canter into the last few jumps. Beau came straight back to her every time, it was great to see!
🏆 Last weekend one of my event riders, Eilis, achieved the elusive double clear at Lincs horse trials, and needless to say we were both over the moon! Eilis’ horse Rudy is extremely capable, but can dangle a leg over coloured poles, leaving them with a case of ‘four-fault-itis’.
Eilis started training with me last summer, and after a winter of pure show jumping and stepping up to 110 courses, they found the BE100 show jumps a doddle!
I’m looking forward to seeing what this duo are capable of throughout the season as they step up to Novice 💫
