No easy way to say this but the amazing Frodo is so sadly no longer with us. We had to let him go over the weekend.
Please no messages of condolence, instead please just leave a smiley face, hug or heart to commemorate what an amazing horse he was.
He gave so much of himself in so many ways to so many people. I consider myself to be the luckiest person to have had the privilege to have had him in my life for around 20 years.
All I can say is he was the most extraordinary horse on so many levels. Not just with his talent as a dressage horse, and being the gentlest horse, but also as a spiritual being, those who have been lucky enough to have had a ’Frodo moment’ will know what I mean.

As a fully qualified fitter and retailer for WOW saddles I am now taking bookings for fittings. I have a couple of Demonstration saddles, one GP/Jump and one dressage.
I also have their amazing FreeSpace girths if you would like to try one.
You can also order any of the WOW girths and any saddle parts you may need from me.

Been a bit quiet here on FB of late as I’ve been so busy whizzing around the country teaching and competing. Tilly qualified for the BD nationals which was a couple of weekends ago now. Our preparation was not the best with be being away on saddle fitting course then back for a few days then off to Fife then back a few days oh and we had a few days of snow in between all that too so she only had a handful of schooling session in the weeks leading up to the nationals. However she travelled down really well and gave a lovely ride to come 12th out of about 40 so was really pleased with her.
Then had a bit of a drama journey home as we were meant to be picking up Mr Dafydd on our way home but we broke down so Mr Dafydd ended up coming to the nationals before we finally got chauffeur driven all the way back home.
The biggest thank you EVER needs to go to Morven Surmon who went down with me and was just amazing in helping get sorted out when we broke down it was 6hrs of stress and endless phone calls but Morven kept a cool head throughout and kept me sane too! Not to mention all her help with driving down and prep for the test etc.
Raised a few eyebrows with people wondering what a slightly scruffy 3yo c**t was doing wandering around the lorry park at the nationals lol! But at least now I know he can do that and the journey home was then fine. Hopefully one day he will return to compete.
Busy time catching up on lots teaching upon my return home as well as playing musical fields so he can get some field time but not too near the girls ;)
I will be heading back down to Fife to teach middle/end of May dates to be confirmed very soon.

Best week of education ever! I did not think it was even possible to learn so much in a week. Huge thank you to David and Maggie (who both do the most amazing job) and everyone at WOW headquarters as well as the riders who brought horses for us to practice on. I was so lucky to be on a course with Melanie, Laine and Brittany who travelled from all over the globe to attend the course, each one of them brought their own professional perspectives and collectively were able to input to the course making it a truly special and unique week.
The factory tour was a real eye opener as to the development, care and precision that goes into making each and every saddle component, it is not your average saddlery workshop!
I now hope to be able to enlighten riders and improve horses lives by introducing more people to the benefits of WOW saddles and helping those who already have WOW to ensure their fitting is truly correct.
I can speak from experience now – I have always fitted my own WOW saddles and whilst I have done an OK job with the fitting I had not fully understood and appreciated the finer points of how to fit a WOW saddle till now!

Excited to be unpacking another box from First Thought Equine. I am gradually building up my stock of Wow saddles and their amazing Free Space girths.
I am heading down to WOW head quarters next week to embark on their saddle fitting course to become a fully qualified WOW fitter.

So far every horse I have tried the Free Space girth on (10 + horses so far) has improved in the way they move and work . they become softer and freer in the movement through their foreleg, they lift more through the back and seem to work more consistently to the rein contact. I'm not one for new fads and fashion but I truly believe this girth is the way forwards. ow I know what your thinking , I would, say that as Im an about to become a wow saddle fitter and retailer. But I was thinking this about the girths and letting others try the girth before I was every thinking about becoming a wow fitter!
Of course if you want a girth (or saddle) I will now be able to supply for you ;)
It relieves pressure on the horses pectoral muscles and the horses seem to very much appreciate that!

Had a lovely time yesterday evening presenting a talk on The Training Spiral to a lovely audience from MORAY RIDING CLUB. Thank you for inviting me :) and I hope you all enjoyed it and got something from it ;)

What a super girl Tilly is! :)
We made it to the winter regionals and she picked up a 2nd in the Elem freestyle and a 2nd in the Novice as well as a 5th and 8th in the Nov freestyle and the Elem straight.
Not having been out since last October she was pretty stuffy in her first Elem but soon got back into the swing of things and was then super consistent with her work although she was very tired by the last test, but still tried her best.
Thanks to all the organisers and helpers who were there it was a lovely weekend and a great way to kick of the start of my competing this year.

Performing a shoulder-in on the long side of the arena with a visualization of where the following steps will be marked by the red and blue lines. An easy way to train the shoulder-in is to begin with a 10-meter circle, then maintain the bend of the circle while asking your horse to move away from your inside leg down the straight side of the arena in a manner similar to a leg-yield.
