Its with great sadness that one of the longest members of our pet care family has crossed the Rainbow bridge 🌈
Sapphy was the smallest one of them all, yet in typical terrier style she took everything in her stride and nothing ever fazed her 💜
We'll certainly miss her, and our thoughts, condolences and love go to her pet parents and her canine brother & sister 😢 ###

A little update on Rocky, the Pointer I found abandoned and starved in Ithaca, a few months ago. After weeks of fantastic care & medication by the volunteers, he's looking great! Hes enjoying a cool down & bath time 💜

To celebrate Barney's 2nd Gotchya day, we headed off to meet some other rescue animals at The Wonky Donkey Farm & Cafe.
What a lovely little setting, meeting the animals, dog and family friendly, very friendly owners with a welcoming cuppa and shared a cake to celebrate Barney's special day.
We can highly recommend a trip out to support this lovely little 'rescue' farm.

Not sure if he's the lucky one, or I am 🤣🤣 !
2 years ago today, I picked him up from West Wales Poundies, after he was taken in as a stray. Skinny, bewildered, upset belly, scared of stairs/steps - now a totally different boy. Wouldn't be without him and he's been the best of buddies not only to me, but to all of my pet sit furry family and friends, just taking it all in his stride, accepting wherever we are or whoever we're caring for, as they have been accepting to him.
He's been an absolute ⭐star⭐.

Today marks the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. A variety of animals played a huge part in the 2nd World War.
Did you know that Soldiers would place important messages inside tiny containers attached to the pigeons' legs and the pigeons would fly away and deliver the messages.
Dogs were trained as “paradogs” to jump out of airplanes and parachute onto the beach to help the soldiers. They even wore their own parachutes! The Scout Platoon of 13th (South Lancs) Parachute Battalion was the main unit which used Para Dogs. Their dogs included Bing, Brian, Flash, Monty, Ranee and Bob, a captured German dog. All were German Shepherds and male, except Ranee. 💜

During my recent trip away, I came across this dog on a very short chain inside a make shift kennel. He was severely emaciated (left pic), almost at deaths door. I contacted Argos Ithaki Animal Welfare, who were able to attend quickly and save this dog by relocating him, regular visits, and feeding him. I was able to offer a donation to help. Look at him, just 3-4 weeks on (pic 2), so much better 💜. Hoping he's now enjoying a new home now too 🤞. Thank you Argos Ithaki Animal Welfare 🥰

Hearing so many more stories of animals being abandoned or PTS because of their age etc and putting huge burdens on rescue centres.
No animal will ever abandoned their owner because its old or sick. 😢

So sad 😢

63 years ago Laika became the first animal to orbit the Earth. She died in space; alone, in agony, and terrified.

She was a stray who was plucked from the streets of Moscow, selected for her small size and bright coat (that would show up nicely on film.)

She passed away five hours after she was thrust into orbit (although for over 40 years the truth was covered up and officials insisted she was alive for days after take-off.)

She died due to overheating. The satellite wasn’t sufficiently insulated from the sun’s rays, and she essentially cooked to death.

The Soviets admitted that they never planned for her to make a return trip, and knew she would perish in the experiment.

“Laika, the first animal to be launched into orbit, died from overheating and panic in the tiny spacecraft – all alone and in severe pain.”

“The more time passes, the more I’m sorry about it. We shouldn’t have done it.”

Remember Laika, and the millions of other animals needlessly used in experiments worldwide each year ❤️
