This handsome chap came to see me at my Ashfield House Veterinary Hospital Ltd clinic. Many people may not consider cats for veterinary physiotherapy treatment, but they can be great candidates and should always get the option where suitable!

Here at Abbey Vets, we are in a fortunate position to be able to offer veterinary physiotherapy services through the skill and expertise of Emma-Jayne Rudkin BSc MIRVAP (VP), owner of Transition Veterinary Physiotherapy.

Veterinary physiotherapy is a non-invasive technique to provide treatment for soft tissue injuries, orthopaedic conditions and neurological conditions. TVP also works in improving performance and strength.

Common conditions treated;
•Osteoarthritis
•Hip and Elbow Dysplasia
•Cruciate damage
•Intervertebral Disc Disease
•Weight management
•Soft tissue injuries
•Muscle imbalance

Emma works on Tuesdays at our Chaddesden branch and is always happy to call clients directly to discuss individual case needs prior to their initial session, alongside answering any queries you may have.

Throughly enjoyed my time working alongside Mel from Phoenix Veterinary Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation
I am incredibly grateful to work with such incredible members of the profession; Vets, Nurses, Veterinary Physiotherapists and Hydrotherapists.

When we combine and work together for the care of an animal, the results are brilliant.

🎇Noise Sensitivity🎆

Over the coming months you may begin hearing fireworks, which can be distressing for some animals. Did you know that animals that show an increase in noise sensitivity, in some cases, have been linked pain?

Your vets will be at hand to provide you with support for pain management, but veterinary physiotherapy can be an invaluable tool for this as well.

Isla and I enjoyed hosting some CPD for Abbey Veterinary Group to aid them in achieving new accreditation.
We ran through various harnesses, collars and leads. Covering their suitability and pros/cons for each. We also ensured that staff feel super confident in fitting these so they can pass the knowledge onto you guys too!

In the past I have not been the best at remembering TVP’s anniversary, but not this year!

TVP has turned 6 today, which is a huge achievement and I am grateful for everybody who has helped me along the way.

I am so proud to have three, in practice veterinary clinics, alongside my own private clinic now which has been a huge success, whilst remaining to offer my home visits where possible.

I’ve met some incredible clients and colleagues along the way, bring on the next 6!

He’s been enjoying his home exercise prescription and his owners have started to see good progress.

Today, at my Ashfield House Veterinary Hospital Ltd clinic, I had the pleasure of rechecking Atlas following on from his hindlimb surgery.
He has shown great progress since starting his rehabilitation, and is now starting to enjoy longer walks.
It’s always fun when my patients are almost the size of me!🐾

Today at my Abbey Veterinary Group clinic, I saw Marley for his recheck.
This is Marley’s second time being featured; he’s now being seen to maintain his mobility as he is getting a little older 🐾
We are focusing on his balance and strength to ensure he can get the best out of his daily activities!

Today I was thrilled to be able to present Maisie with her award at Abbey Veterinary Group ⭐️
Maisie has overcome a huge traumatic injury to her forelimb, requiring an intensive stay in hospital and rehabilitation process.
Her owners have been incredible and the teams at Abbey Vets and Willows Referrals have worked alongside myself to get Maisie back to enjoy her walks again. 🐾

🗓️Update🗓️

A quick update to all PRIVATE existing customers and new clients; March has very limited availability.
This means that current clients will be prioritised to ensure that they can be seen.

Prospective/New clients will be seen from April onwards, any cases enquiring for patients that need seeing urgently or at a high frequency, it is advised that you do not wait for my diary to open up.

For my CLINIC patients, please speak with the practice directly as to the availability for that individual clinic.

⭐️Star Patient⭐️
Meet Jasper, he has been seen at my clinic following surgery to correct a luxating patella.
He has also attended regular hydrotherapy with Ashbourne Canine Hydrotherapy Centre 💧
Thanks to multimodal management and fantastic dedication from his owner, Jasper is now back out and prepping for an exciting summer ahead.
