MEET THE ABYSSINIAN! 🐱

The Abyssinian is one of the top five most popular cat breeds world-wide. It is a medium to large shorthaired cat with a lithe and muscular feel to it. One of the most defining features of the Abyssinian is a distinctly ticked coat, showing at least four bands of colour.

The Abyssinian is a delight to look at with it’s large ears, sometimes with tufts, resembling a lynx, its large rounded almond shaped eyes and beautiful face markings all of which combine to give a wild but gentle expression. It is medium to large in build and nothing about the Abyssinian is ‘extreme’ other than its devotion to its owners! Abyssinian Breeders are dedicated to producing healthy and as natural a looking cat as possible.

Two kittens returning to Pennards for their post neuter check up

The cats are enjoying the new Sevenoaks site facilities also! The private cat waiting area not only provides a VIP treatment (😉) but also ensures that your cat is kept away from other animals to reduce their stress prior to their appointment🐾

My thanks to all the Show Team of the Suffolk and Norfolk Cat Club for their work in putting together and running this excellent Show today, particularly Sue, Sean and Lynz (many months in planning).

AbyFabylous CaraVan had a red card day, gaining an Imperial Challenge Certificate awarded by Helen Marriott-Power.
AbyFabylous Gypsy Queen was awarded a Grand Challenge Certificate by Val Anderson-Drew, who also placed Cara First in the Section 4 Club Class. Both girls were awarded Best of Breed - Cara as Sorrel Abyssinian and Queenie as a Usual Abyssinian.

Thank you also to Elisabeth Stark for inviting me to Steward, always a pleasure, and a very welcome diversion today.

Girlie also has her fourth birthday today, so Happy Birthday Girlie. Girlie has been spending a few days away and returns home tomorrow; there may be kittens in a couple of months time.

Happy 6th Birthday to Ch. Syrinx Tatiana, my foundation Queen (now Retired) my thanks to Alan and Val Lockwood for entrusting this girl to me. Tatty's day started with a breakfast topping of freeze dried chicken and more treats throughout the day for her and her feline family.

We had a long day yesterday, rising at 4am to travel to the Central All Breed Cat Club and and Midland Cat Club double GCCF Show at Stoneleigh. The Show bag and carriers all carefully worked out a few days before to travel on the car seats. Everything securely placed to ensure six cats could travel comfortably and then put on my trolley to take them into the show hall with my show bags. The vet was impressed at how smoothly vetting in went.

AbyDreames Isis was entered to the Midland in the Imperial Class, judged by Cate Kaye and AbyFabylous Caravan to the Central, judged by Perri Mansaray. They were both awarded Reserve with the Imperial Challenge Certificate being awarded, in both shows to the stunningly beautiful SupK Gr Ch Abydreames Clara Bow (ABY n), owned by Nathan Gilbert (Ch AbyFabylous Brown Eyed Girl was penned next door to Clara).

AbyFabylous Brown Eyed Girl was entered to the Midland and AbyFabylous CaraVan to the Central - both to the Grand Class. Girlie was awarded her third Grand CC judged by Cate Kaye, subject to GCCF Confirmation she will have the title Grand Champion.
Queenie was awarded her first Grand CC by Marlene Buckeridge.

I also took Queenie's two kittens, born 20th January AbyFabylous Just-Like Greta, entered to Midland, judged by David Redtfeldt placing her 1st and Best of Breed. AbyFabylous Jackie Wilson Said, entered to Central and judged by Helen Marriott-Power also received 1st place and Best of Breed.

Greta also received two personal Judge awards from David Redtfelt and Sandra Woodley. My sincere thanks to all the judges and their stewards.

Even greater thanks to the Show Managers of the Midland and Central Cat Clubs, and their teams as I was totally distracted while settling six cats into carriers and packing down six pens into my show bag and trolley I inadvertently left a bag behind containing all the rosettes, Show Guide in which i had put the Championship Cards to keep them flat, pen water bowls, toys and a couple of pen blankets, only discovering the oversight once I reached home and sorting things through. I e-mailed Jean Broad and Eileen Fryer last night and today my bag has been found - I have booked a courier to collect on Tuesday and all being well I should have the awards on Wednesday.

I think we all recognise the amount of work which goes into setting up and running a show, but there is so much which goes on behind the scenes, sorting out issues like mine, so quietly, promptly and with utmost care. My sincere thanks for a wonderful day and post care.

All the cats travelled well although they were glad to be back home around 8pm yesterday evening.

Today has been a sort out, laundry and repack the show bag for the next time, but lesser number of cats as Greta and Wilson are due to leave for their forever home after they are neutered.

Happy 8th birthday to GrPr AbyDreames Graffiti Bridge, my boy aka Bertie, so special.
He was the first to be photographed with my new camera, he is always as close as he can be, by my side.
He was from the Fab Four litter of Lillian Eames and Michael Eames, litter brothers IGrCh AbyDreames Gett Off aka Goldie owned by Shirley Evan’s, now retired from stud; IGrPr AbyDreames Controversy and GrPr AbyDreames Mewsicology owned be Claire Styles. It is believed that this is the first complete litter to ALL be shown by owners and gaining excellent placement on the Show bench.

My four girls at the Essex Cat Club and London Cat Club double show yesterday.

AbyFabylous Gypsy Queen received two CC’s, which in addition to the two she already has will, subject to GCCF confirmation will award the title Champion.

Ch AbyFabylous Brown Eyed Girl received two Grand Certificates, one more required for the title Grand Champion.

GrCh AbyFabylous Caravan receiving Reserve Imperial and GrCh AbyDreames Isis placed third. The competition is tough at this level, these two girls have two Imperial Certificates of five required from five different Judges.

My thanks to Caroline Roberts, Carol Brown and Vanessa Marriott, Joint Show Managers and all who assisted in any capacity within their Show Teams. What a glorious day, despite a venue curve ball with pre set up, which was handled so smoothly, immense credit to them all

AbyFabylous Gypsy Queen at the double show held by The Essex Cat Club and The London Cat Club yesterday. Receiving two Challenge Certificates, which subject to GCCF confirmation, will award the title Champion.
Queenie has a habit of shredding her pen cards, which is a blinder for judges, hence it being placed on the base of her pen, out of paw and teeth reach!
