A BIT ABOUT ME
Personality:
Darla is an affectionate and playfully natured little lady, who thrives in company whether of humans or dogs.
Darla is a gentle girl and loves children, she makes the ideal family companion.
She has the most inquisitive and cheeky side with just a hint of daredevil.

Behaviour:
Darla needs the company of another dog or her humans for her wellbeing.
Darla loves toys and will engage in rough play at times.
Darla is an energetic little lady, who sometimes doesn’t understand the dangers around her especially around water. She loves to swim and will jump in a river given the opportunity.

Needs:
Darla needs an active family environment, one who can shower her with all the attention she could ask for.
A dog in the home for companionship and company when her humans are away.
A garden is a must for gentle exercise and play.

Walk/exercise:
Darla’s breathing isn’t the best, so she can only manage short gentle walks.
Darla prefers to walk with the company of another dog; she can be unwilling to go alone.
Darla is happy to interact with unfamiliar dogs and adores meeting new people.

Toilet trained:
Yes, Darla is a good girl.

Travel:
Darla loves a car ride, because of this we will accept applications of up to 4 hours from her current location.
We recommend using a seatbelt restraint or travel crate whenever transporting dogs.

**TRANSPORTING DURING WARMER WEATHER IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE CAR AS COOL AS POSSIBLE**

Things to be aware of:
Darla had BOAS surgery prior to GBSR, her breathing isn’t the best however it is getting better as she loses weight.
Darla has allergies, she must stay on her current hypoallergenic diet and takes a Piriton daily. She could potentially have environmental allergies so we would recommend changing cleaning products from chemical based to a brand call Method and using their plant-based cleaning products.
Children must understand that bulldogs need time to settle in and have space to rest peacefully and uninterrupted.

Additional information from Darla’s foster family:
Darla is craziest, most loving English Bulldog. And anybody that gets to give her a home, will be very lucky.
Darla’s adoption donation fee is £500 and will need to be paid in full prior to her going home which will also be subject to a home check.

**Every dog rehomed by GBSR receives Rescue Back-up for their whole Life. And the admin team are available for advice and support for the whole of that dog’s lifetime via Messenger, therefore the successful applicant will need to have an active Facebook and Messenger account for the life of the dog. If you cannot agree to this, please don’t apply**

Very sadly we are letting you know that we have lost another GBSR girl, Ronnie 😪💔

Ronnie came into foster in 2021 as a 4 year old after her family moved and couldn’t take her with them.
Ronnie was suffering with severe Entropion effecting both eyes an underwent eye surgery before being ready for her new home.

Then in November 2021 Dawn Askwith-Shepherdson became Ronnies new mummy and she never looked back 😍 🙏

What a beautiful life Ronnie has had but her eyes were always her weakness, and in the past couple of years she was rendered nearly blind 😪

And then then Dawn discovered Ronnie had breast cancer which hit home hard as Ronnie has been Dawns support through her own battle with the same illness

Sadly Ronnie was too poorly for surgery, so Dawn had to put her little girl first 🥺

So earlier this week and with the heaviest heart, Dawn told her little girl she no longer had to fight as she gently left her mum for Rainbow Bridge leaving a huge paw shaped hole in Dawns heart 💔💔

We are so sorry to hear about Ronnie's passing Dawn, we know she was very much loved and will be dearly missed. We are extending our sympathies to you and wishing you a full and speedy recovery 🙏🙏

Freckles has a new bu**um 😍

Poor Freckles has been through so much with her infected tail pocket. Having the tail removed is a big operation and she has been in quite a lot of discomfort but her FM Ceara is keeping a close eye on her and she is taking it easy, bless her heart 🥺

Is Home 🏡💙

Baxter was collected over the weekend by his gorgeous new family, Danny & Bev! 🎉

Baxter arrived into foster in April, when unfortunately he’d found himself in a pound with no place to call his own 😔.

We were made aware of Baxter and moved as quickly as we could to get him out of there!! Step in our fab volunteer Jadey and her lovely dog Denver 🐾!!

Jadey has worked wonders on Baxter, she’s built up his confidence and settled him at night, he’s been a delight to have in foster according to Jadey. 🥹🥹 Denver has been the bestest big foster bro too! 🎉

Jadey - thank you so so much for being an incredible foster mum, we appreciate you and your little family so much 🩷 Congrats on another successful foster! 🎉

Now to Danny and Bev, I have the absolute honour to announce that Baxter, has officially gone home to the most loving and sincere couple! Baxter will be so doted on, he’s already wrapped you round his paw 🐾! They had a lovely set up waiting for his arrival 🥹🥹

Baxter, be the best boy we know you are! 💙

We have some VERY exciting news and that is.. STEVE IS HOME 🏡🥹

You may remember our gorgeous pup Steve arrived into foster when his owner sadly surrendered him to the local vet, who thankfully reached out to us! 🩷

Steve within hours of the phone call landed into foster with our fabulous volunteer Chloe & her partner Louis and GBSR Brody! 💙

Steve blossomed under Brodys guidance, showing him the way, how to act and how to play.. The bond between them grew over his time in foster..

When it came time to post about his adoption, Chloe asked if she could make Steve hers, of course we couldn’t deny Brody of his foster brother, Steve.. 🥹🥹

Chloe and Louis signed up to foster after adopting their gorgeous Brody from us back in 2023, they have fostered over a year, with foster dogs Including Bibi, Reggie, Steve, Abby and Raven! We’re so grateful to you both and also that you want to ensure Steve is the best big foster brother along with Brody 🥹🥹

Please help us congratulate, Chloe & Louis, along with their boys, the official GBSR brothers, Brody & Steve! 😍💙

Steve we can’t wait to see your adventures as you get older, follow Brody, we’re confident he’ll show you the way 💙
