❄️ Cold Weather Care for English Bulldogs ❄️

Our chunky little companions may look tough, but English Bulldogs feel the cold more than you think!

Here are some important DOs & DON’Ts to keep your bully safe and comfy this winter 👇

✅ DO
• Use a warm coat or jumper for outdoor walks
• Keep walks short and sweet in cold or wet weather
• Dry their wrinkles, paws, and belly thoroughly after being outside
• Make sure they have a warm, draft-free place to sleep
• Watch for shivering or reluctance to walk — they’re telling you it’s too cold!

❌ DON’T
• Leave your bulldog outside for long periods
• Assume their stocky build keeps them warm
• Let them walk on icy or salted paths without protection
• Forget that cold weather can worsen joint and breathing issues

🐾 Remember: If you’re cold, your bulldog probably is too!

🔔 PLEASE READ BEFORE ASKING TO “PRE-INTEREST” IN UNASSESSED DOGS 🔔

We are seeing increasing frustration and hostility from people who want to apply for dogs that have not yet been assessed. This needs addressing clearly.
We do not – and will not – allocate dogs that have not been fully assessed.

This is non-negotiable.

Here’s why:
• We rescue dogs with unknown histories
• We rely on volunteer foster homes, not kennels
• We must assess behaviour, health, triggers, environment needs, other dogs, children, handling, medical issues
• Until a dog has lived in a foster home and been professionally observed, we do not know what that dog needs

Placing a dog based on photos, a sob story, or someone’s enthusiasm is dangerous, irresponsible, and unethical.
It puts:
– adopters at risk
– children at risk
– other animals at risk
– our fosters at risk
– and the dog at risk of yet another failed placement

If you are unhappy that you cannot “reserve”, “pre-book”, or “call dibs” on a dog you have never met and we have never assessed, then this rescue is not the right fit for you.

We will never:
• Rush a placement to please people
• Ignore safeguarding because someone is impatient
• Gamble with a dog’s future to avoid complaints
Dogs are not first-come-first-served items.
They are vulnerable, often traumatised animals who deserve the right home, not the fastest one.
Being rude, demanding, or abusive will not change this policy.

It will simply result in your application not being considered at all.

If you genuinely understand rescue, you will understand why assessment comes first.

If you don’t — this is not the rescue for you.

🎄💙 A huge thank you to Precious Paws Liverpool! 💙🎄

We are incredibly grateful to Precious Paws Liverpool for their amazing support and generosity. Through their Christmas campaign, they raised £200 for us, and earlier in the year they also raised an incredible £100 over Halloween — bringing their total donation to an amazing £300 this year!

Being chosen as their Charity of the Year truly means the world to us at Geordie Bullies. Not only have they raised vital funds, but they have also continuously supported us by sharing our dogs across their platforms and helping us reach more people — they have truly been incredible. 🐾

Instead of gifts, they kindly encouraged their customers to donate, such a thoughtful and selfless gesture that will make a real difference to the dogs in our care.

Ahhhh look Baxter! They lit up the pathway just for you! You’re a star ⭐!!

It looks like Baxter had a fabulous time at the local illumination show 🥹❤️

Baxter’s personality is really starting to shine through in foster now, his foster mum describes him as “strong, cheeky and loves to be the centre of attention!”

Elton has now moved foster homes and is settling in with Martin in the South East, where he’ll continue his assessment ❤️

We’re incredibly grateful to Martin for opening his home and welcoming another foster alongside Elton. We know he’ll feel right at home very quickly!

A huge thank you to Kathy and Paul for meeting Will and Tash — Elton’s previous foster family in the Midlands — and for helping with the road train to bring Elton safely down south. Thank you, Kathy and Paul ❤️

And of course, a massive thank you to Tash and Will for stepping in as Elton’s foster carers. We know how much hard work, love, and dedication you’ve put into him, and we understand how difficult it is to say goodbye. We’re so thankful to you both!

Welcome to Geordie Bullies!

Thank you for visiting our page and wanting to learn more about us. Geordie Bullies is a breed Specific English bulldog Rescue. The Rescue was founded by Helen Edwards and Clair Knox both from Newcastle who both are very passionate about the breed we know and love. The charity was formed in 2016 when Helen and Clair recognised that there was a huge amount of bulldogs being sold or given away due to breed related issues, those being used as a commodity and were at risk.

The charity at present has over 80 volunteers/fosters around the UK. We are a non profit organisation and rely solely on donations from the public to rescue and rehabilitate the bulldogs in our care. We only use foster homes for our bully babies. Every bulldog that arrives with us is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, wormed and micro-chipped before it is re-homed.
