Meet the trainer part 2

Adam joined Cunningshot initially working alongside Emma in the midlands, having come from a countryside background being involved in gundog training from a young age. When Emma moved to Cumbria Adam took over the running of the Midlands. Adam has now over doubled the client expansion of Cunningshot offering regular classes, courses 1-1’s and workshops. Along the way Adam has built professional connections with companies that now sponsor and support us, found endless amounts of ground to vary the client experience and continued to work his own dogs to a high standard. Adam also set up his own natural treat business to further enhance and offer nutritional support to our clients. Adam now… much to his dislike of paperwork 🥰🤣…. Manages all food orders, invoicing and a lot of the client communication. Cunningshot is truly lucky to have him train and work as a partner in the business.

In his own words:

“I’ve grown up with dogs working them all my life. I learnt from my dad and spent most of my childhood out with the dogs, helping at working tests and then later on competing myself.

Transitioning from dog trainer to train people has been such a rewarding change of career for me and I’m thrilled when I see dogs and owners succeeding and doing well. Working more recently with minority retriever breeds has welcomed new challenges for me to experience and learn which is the best thing about dog training constantly learning. “

I thought we needed an updated meet the team section…

Emma

I started Cunningshot 12 yrs ago, initially running it whilst working full time at the vets on shifts I grew the business to where it is today. It was and always will be my first baby. The business was driven by a passion to give back to the mentors that aided my learning and made my entry to shooting such a pleasant one. One that I now know isn’t necessarily the normal for lots of newcomers. In the last 12 years we have expanded in trainers and locations. I have met some amazing people, experienced some incredible adventures and witnessed some truly magical journeys of dogs transforming. I now work as a lecturer at Kendal College teaching young people all about animal care and behaviour. I have the privilege to help bring on the next generation of people in the animal industry, whatever path they may choose.

Everyone will now see me with my mini me in tow having a child has meant that I’ve had to adapt how I run things, I see Harry as an addition to the business eventually I will have my own assistant 😂 but right now he’s a 4 yr old with a big personality and a lot of opinions 😂🙈. We have this year alone held introductions to tests, our third year of sold out gundog holidays across both training centres this year and a new location, the addition of courses, simulated shot days, novice shoot days, mentor days in the field. On top of our regular workshops and 1-2-1’s. Cunningshot and I can’t wait to witness more amazing owners and their dogs journey.

Reality of shoot season #5 with a now 4 year old. Probably the hardest year so far to do with Harry…. Not because he’s difficult or hard work but he’s bloody heavy 😂😂😂

Forever my mini me!!

Harry is very excited to officially be a brand ambassador for he is already planning dog training for tomorrow in his new gilet. We absolutely love what muntjac are doing to promote the next generation.

Few highlights from our fab day walked up workshop at red hall farm. Some great progress made by the handlers and the dogs and hopefully everyone went away a bit more confident about the upcoming season for them all! Great work!!!

Was great to work with this young handler again following on from the young handler day in August. It was lovely to see the progress of a very patient 11yr old working a very excitable lab. A credit to you and I look forward to seeing you all again soon!
