❓ Can you help? We're looking for a volunteer who can help us with a small data entry project. It can be done from home by someone with basic computer and Excel skills.

The project will probably take around 40 hours and could be split between multiple people if you only have a little time to give. If you can help please email [email protected] for more information.

So last week our cockerel Barrack went to a new home at a community allotment near London.
I was fed up of being attacked and having to watch my back everytime he was out and inevitably they weren't getting out as much as they'd like which wasn't fair on the girls.
We have now amalgamated into one big flock of 9 hens and Gilbert and its all much more relaxed. So lovely to see them all clucking around in the sunshine

All the birds are still on flockdown and we can wait to be able to set them free. In the meantime though I'm very excited to pop a clutch of 7 eggs in the incubator. Mostly Gilbert's progeny but 1 maybe 2 from Barack.
Hatching eggs is so exciting!!! 21 days to go 😁

The chooks are all thoroughly fed up of flockdown but they can't come out and free range just yet! Bird flu is still around 😒
We've only been getting 2-3 eggs every day over winter some days none! I can tell the days are getting linger as we had 5 today! We will soon have enough to start sales again. I'll let you all know when we are ready!

The 'babies' are 2.5 months and mahoosive!!!! Nothing they love better than a mooch round the garden. Unfortunately our cat, Princess Gabrielle, despite being smaller than the chickens, has found her moxie and started chasing them. Currently sat in the garden, with a cup of coffee, on chicken sitting duties! There are definately worse ways to spend an hour 😍

Brahma chicks first free range in the garden. Its definitely a learning curve and these are our most confident chicks yet! Straight out the door, eager to explore and we've been working on our 'chook chook chook' call and treat sessions so i feel reasonably confident that ill be able to get them back in too!! 🤞🤞🤞

Today was the day for the newest babies to move outdoors. I love Brahmas but they get so big so quickly they outgrow everything in half the time of a smaller breed!
It makes me really happy to see them have space to explore, dirt to dust bathe and rose leaves to jump for 😉 Not sure the quail neighbours are quite so sure!

Could you rehome a few chooks?

Could you give these lovely hens their new home? Not only do we have rehoming dates in July and August, we also have girls left here at our Wareham collection point from our last farm which means they are available immediately. All you need to do is go to
www.freshstartforhens.co.uk
You will be asked for current photos of your coop and free range set up and a minimum donation of £2.50 per hen, it couldn’t be easier. If you have any questions just get in touch, we are more than happy to help.
