Every thing has gone completely crazy !! Saddle fitting/ teaching/ riding. Im booking 4 weeks a head at the moment so please bare this in mind. I fly solo and I’m doing my best to keep the wait as short at possible with out killing myself 🤣

So this is how today went !

Massive car transporter decided to ignore all weight limit signs and against everything telling him not to take he’s massive lorry down the narrow lanes of keston he did.

It was very slow, he got stuck many times and he pi**ed off most of keston.

Sorry to my clients for my lateness today.

Thank you stupid lorry driver 😳

Just a update on wait times, I’m currently booking last week of May. This is always a really busy time of year so please be organised. To top it off I’ve had a on and off bug which has been grim so have had to prioritise jobs slightly.

Monday and Thursdays are my days off which will only be worked in emergencies.

A great post by the lovely fellow saddle fitting friend.

The job is full on and can be extremely stressful and frustrating at times. It’s easy to let it take over your life but people need to Remember we are human with families needing us at home too.

This job can be a lonely one.

I was planning on writing an apology for being slow to reply to messages and get back to people. But I think it's better if I don't sugar coat it, and just tell the truth.

This job is hard. Its brilliant, but I carry every tricky customer, problem to solve, and constant bombardment on my phone with me every day. It gets too much sometimes.

The first year of fitting out solo was what I and other fitters have dubbed 'hell year' if you can mentally cope with the load, you have a chance of making it. We are on our own. We are running our business, diary, accounts, and trying to see as many people as quickly as possible. I don't have days off. My brain doesn't let me. Everything is there all the time.

The last few weeks I've overstretched myself. And it's done me in. Not only am I Freya the saddle fitter. But I'm Mum, and a wife. And when I overload myself, my family suffers.

I want to be the best fitter I can be, the most attentive and to get back to people as quickly as possible. But I am not going to compromise my family for that. My son needs his mum, I don't have mine, and I will not take his away from him. My husband needs his partner, and I need him more than he'll ever know.

This weekend the glue that has held our family together for the last 10 years, Maisie, had an accident that took her from us. I'm not OK, and only time will heal this loss.

I will try and get back to everyone as quickly as possible, and get out to everyone as soon as I can. And I will be the same attentive, happy, person I try to be for every customer.

I'm not the only person close to me to lose someone recently. We bury it, pretend it doesn't hurt and carry on as if everything's the same. We all love those around us, and we all have lives running in the background that affect us.

Thank you to my amazing family, friends and the Saddlers and Fitters who I love. I couldn't be who I am without all of you.

And of course. Here's to the best girl that ever lived. To Maisie ❤️

Busy day !
Started off with a great jump session with Izzy and James ❤️✔️
Jack assisted in some flower arranging with Rhoden Roses
Then to the doctors for he’s jabs 😞 (wasn’t so happy)
Then Darcy came and gave Plum a work out.
Finally 2 saddle checks this evening on 2 ex racers then gave up on the idea of dinner and off to bed 👋

I’m back to work with a boom 💥

I’m currently playing catch up so I’m afraid I can’t take on any new yards for the next few months. I’m also limiting on how many new fits I do as these take up a lot of time. As usual I’m pretty booked up.

Please book at least 4 weeks ahead to save disappointment.

I would like to thank all my clients for being so patient while I’ve been off I’ve missed you all.

I’m loving having a youngster to play with it’s been a long time since backing a horse. We backed horses all the time when I was at Clockhouse but we had a finely tuned way of doing it and a team of people that knew their part of the job so this one has been a little different. I’ve grabbed yard pals to assist when they can but she’s sort of had to cope with just me which has created a nice bond between us. I’m mindful of my back injury which is why I don’t ride the mental ones anymore but I know I’ve got a friendly Irish guy at the end of the phone who she will spend some time with at some point. #perfectplum

You know when RTB Equine Therapies has been when your horses muscles are this spongy.

Very proud trainer moment this week. Young Izzy has ridden 2 big not always the most straight forward horses this week. She has completely smashed it, she’s a pleasure to teach and has been fantastic at work with me. 🙂 Watch this young lass for the future, she’s a very determined cookie 🙂 I think she will be sad to go back to school

I love half term 😜😂 but wow how amazing have my younger clients have been this week so far. We have been working on control and accuracy. This is Mia who is 11 working on a exercise I’ve been doing a lot. Here we are working on Mia asking the pony to land on the correct lead, keeping her rhythm between the fences and thinking about where she wants the horse to take off and land. Being organised is the key.
