MEDICAL SWIM ARCHIE 27-8-19 CRANIAL CRUCIATE LIGAMENT & MENISCOTOMY. Little Archie my pocket rocket swam lovely today. The next day on the 28th Archie went to the vet and was signed off from his surgery. His vet was really pleased with his recovery and muscle tone he's built on left hind from surgery so Archie is now fully recovered. Today he had auntie June running with him in the pool she felt like the 6 million dollar man (only those 40yrs and older will remember that programe). Its hard running in water !!! Archie had fun and thats all that mattered. Well done little man. xx
'MEDICAL SWIM' PARALYSED CLYDE 8YR OLD 28-8-19
'MEDICAL SWIM' PARALYSED CLYDE 8YR OLD 28-8-19. This is a short video to show you Clyde was put into a harness today not a buoyancy jacket so he works that bit harder. Look at this pooch work his hind legs he improves on every session this is his 3rd and he is determined to get back on his feet again. Clyde went to hospital the next day to Leahurst / SATH in Liverpool where the physiotherapist was amazed with his progress of body condition, muscle mass tone and strength and happier in himself and overall so pleased with him telling his owners to carry on the good work they are doing with him. We will between us and me personally am determined to get this pooch back on his feet as he is such an adorable dog he deserves a good quality of life. That means being 'himself and being a 'Lurcher' xx
'MEDICAL SWIM' PARALYSED - 8YR OLD CLYDE
This is the 2nd video of Clyde the 1st is on top this one underneath and the 3rd is in the corner me placing Clydes feet. Clyde is a fit healthy extremely proud 8yr old Lurcher. 5/6 weeks ago Clyde was running for a ball on Black Rock Sands beach when his owner Barry heard him yelp. Clyde was then Paralysed from the waist down from that moment. Leahurst Small Animal Teaching Hospital diagnosed him after CT scans with Intervertabral Disc Extrusion and Fibro cartligenous Embolism Mylopathy. In short he has damaged a disc which has extruded and possibly a small fragment has lodged in his spinal canal causing the paralysis. Clyde is brought into the centre by a pelvic sling to hold his hind up and he hasn't walked or moved his hind limbs since the accident. When Clyde came in I could tell he was a proud boy but he looked depressed. I'm a big believer in making a dogs mind healthy as well as the physicality of the dog. Clyde needed to move, needed to work, to 'do' something and the videos you are watching are his 2nd session. The first was simply allowing him to 'wallow' and get used to the water as he's not 100% a swimmer. I'm holding Clyde at the rear with my hand between his hips to stop the right leg from crossing over the left and to stop them floating it's giving him some support at the rear. Clyde has 'NOT' had a ball in his mouth since the accident and today he picks it up in the pool a few times. Watch how Clyde doesn't move his rear limbs coming away from the ramp but watch him attempt to move the hind legs during the video going back to the ramp as he can see bickies on the side. By the end of the video he is moving his hind limbs quite a lot for the 1st time swimming. On the other 2 videos I'm placing Clydes hind feet down to retrain his brain where his legs should be placed and to strengthen his rear legs whilst the Owner is taking the weight of the hips with the pelvic sling on top. This was on saturday 24th and Clyde came today the 26th. Owner said he look
'PUPPY LEARN TO SWIM' 20-8-19 15 mth OLD BILLY
Billy comes with Jay J as they are family. 1st session Billy was held in my arms on his video. We progressed onto me using a lead with him to build up confidence then went onto bringing Owner Roger into the pool to build it even more. I wont say anymore. ALL READERS / VIEWERS MAKE A COMMENT IF YOU THINK BILLY CAN SWIM ON HIS OWN NOW. Roger is over the moon with him and please see Jay J in the background making his own way up and down the ramp to check Billy is not in any trouble due to the splashing he can hear. He checks him out he goes back down again xx
10yr OLD NEL 'LEARN TO SWIM' & CONFIDENCE IS BUILDING
ALL REST BREAKS ARE TOOK OUT. Nel builds confidence every session she does. She ran down the ramp to her mum and dad today by herself no treats were needed or any help from me either. Today she also doubled up her swim times too. She is getting confident to swim more for longer periods though she does focus on the ramp as thats where mum gives the bickies. The very last swim she did she practically dived off the ramp herself and swam with such speed she left me behind so I'm hopeful next session she will eventually step off the ramp herself and take her own 'leap of faith' into the pool. Mum and Dad were so proud of her this week as was I as now Nel has stop leaning and rocking and rolling her hips when she swims she is becoming more methodical and staying nice and straight as when she 1st started she almost rolled she would swing her hips and rotate herself over. She is progressing to become independent in the water. Once she steps off the ramp alone there will be no stopping her. Well done Nel xx
'LEARN TO SWIM' - 6yr OLD MEGGIE - 10-8-19
This is Meggies 3rd swim. Her 1st swim she put up a 30 second little
'I don't want the water' fight and now look at her. Swimming around quite happy and content and even taking a flying lunge or 2 to get in as well. She's just too cute xx
14MTH OLD BILLY 9-8-19 4 WEEKS AGO COULDN'T SWIM
HELD IN MY ARMS 4 WEEKS AGO - ALL I CAN SAY - IS LOOK AT HIM NOW !!!!!
14 MTH OLD BILLY - PUPPY LEARNED TO SWIM
Do all of you remember young Billy in my arms terrified of water for the 1st time? Through the same 4 weeks he's been coming with Jay J Billy has progressed. He was swam on a lead twice to gain his own confidence and 'feel himself in the water then I asked Roger last week to get in the pool to help build confidence even more. LOOK AT BILLY NOW. This was MASSIVE for Billy to do this by himself. Look at Rogers face he is beside himself doesn't know if to laugh cry scream or shout and Billy is thriving. This footage was taken on the 6th and on the 9th Billy was even better than this which you'll see in a day or 2. This video is in 2 parts as its uncut and lengthy. For all you dog owners out there who have said these words '' my dog doesn't like water''' then look at a dog that most certainly didn't and thought the world was ending when put into it. Now hes saving birdies life and loves the retrieving aspect of it. Roger wants Billy to get into water activites like canoeing and swimming with friends etc.. so this is huge for both of them and will change their lives and expand it. Way to go Billy.xx
14yr old JAY J - ABDO MASS & OSTEOARTHRITIS
LOOK AT JAY J PROGRESSING NOW. All rest breaks been cut out. Jay J started swimming 4 weeks ago and comes 2 x per week. When he started his hind legs were weak he couldn't stand for long periods tended to cross his legs over a lot and knuckle his feet and at that stage just enjoyed 'wallowing' in water. He progressed in swimming times, became fitter by building up stamina and improved in all areas so a week ago I put Jay J in a harness (not a buoyancy jacket) as he was getting stronger, fitter, was able to stand longer less knuckling (hardly at all now) and a harness is less buoyant so the dog has to work that little bit harder. I was going to cut his swimming times down to account for the harder work but Jay J actually met his swim times too. Look at Jay J now holding himself in water swimming by himself and look at the underwater footage see how Jay J is stronger on his hind as he actually puts himself on the ramp now. He doesn't 'wallow' anymore he justs gets straight in and he's walking himself down the ramp now too with very little aid from me. All in all Jay J has improved 100% in these 4 weeks. Owner says he can walk for longer go further and swims outside in a warm lagoon too. Footage of him doing this stuff is on Jay J Greenhalgh own page. Way to go my man. xx
