I noticed tonight whilst we went to dinner (a rarity at best), how a man spoke to a server preparing his food. He spoke to him with such disrespect and barked at him like he was nothing. At what point did this become ok? When did we as people start accepting, we can talk to others how we like, especially those in the service industry.
You will have seen an absence of one half of The Fish Shop for many months. Some reasons are our child, some have been general health. Sadly, one of the main reasons is the way in which I'm consistently spoken to. I understand many people, if not most, will only be aware of Ross, because you see him in store. But if you message, contact us via any platform other than face to face, it's me you speak to. I am called Ross on a daily basis. Told to "ask Ross" frequently, even though Im perfectly capable of answering you. And once told to "get my boss" This week has been the worst yet. Ross is the face of the shop, the reason we started the shop, he does not, however, do this alone. Everything you don't see, behind the scenes, is not Ross.
You don't have to be aware of this, if you don't see me, why on earth would you know. However, once aware, why would you repeatedly speak to someone so disrespectfully? As a society, we expect exceptional customer service, we will do everything we can to provide that, and we go above and beyond our hours to provide that. I have messaged people up to midnight to help them. I will, however, match your energy if you are rude.
The Fish Shop is two people.
