Hey everyone, first of all I would like to thank everyone that came to the Marchington open gardens to support me.

I am nearly at capacity and I’m in need of newspapers. Hardly have any left!

If you have or know somebody who reads newspapers please can you bring to me and put in the box outside my house. If you need my address I’ll happily private message you.

The picture is of Yorkie. He came in with mum at 96g but mum didn’t want him. I’ve hand reared him and he now weighs over 400g.

Hi, Prickles in a Pickle Marchington Hedgehogspital is opening for the Marchington open gardens next weekend. Therewill also be a raffle, Tombola etc. I’m just wondering if anyone has a small gazebo the rescue can borrow. We have one but that wasn’t quite enough last year.

Also if anyone has got any styrofoam we could have that would be great. We are making a hedgehog scarecrow and need it to stick things in to make spikes.

If you could help with either message me or email [email protected].

Thank you

The picture is of Yorkie a hoglet currently at the rescue.

All done!! 2 live broadcasts that were on at about 7:50 and 8:15. Then I pre recorded 2 that are going to be on at around noon and then 4pm. It’s also going to be on BBC sounds.

Hey Everyone, you’re probably wondering why there’s a picture of Jack Tymon of BBC Radio Derby on my post.
Well as it’s Hedgehog awareness week I’ve been asked to appear on his radio show tomorrow morning to talk about Hedgehogs.
I’m a bit nervous as it’s live and hoping I don’t make an idiot of myself 😂
If you can have a listen and support my first radio appearance! 😁📻

Just a quick but important post.

If you are doing work in your garden this weekend and are using a strimmer remember to check for Hedgehogs!

They will not run away from the strimmer and will either just stand still or curl up. So many Hedgehogs are being brought into rescue with strimmer injuries already!

Pictured is one of my girls, Tinkerbell, that was released last week. She is beautiful and I would be devastated if anything happens to her.

So please please please be mindful when strimming. Tell everyone! If you see someone strimming ask them if they have checked for Hedgehogs!

Hope you have a Happy Easter love from Lisa and the Hedgehogs. ❤️🦔🐣

EXCUSE THE NO GLOVES I WAS BEING NAUGHTY!
Here is my newest little one who I collected today. She is a girl from Sutton Coldfield and weighs just 360g and is currently in an incubator because she was freezing cold. Now she is not underweight by much so surprisingly she was most probably born January this year.
She was out in the day so I am expecting some internal parasites to show in her p**p but she hasn’t graced me with one yet to check 😂.

So that’s why Hedgehogs have a foot sticking out when they roll up! 😂Also thank you to everyone who has donated to the r...

Here’s my gorgeous boy Elf enjoying an Imavoral bath. He has ringworm on his tummy and on his willie, poor boy.
Elf has a history here at my rescue. He was last with me about 2 years ago to be treated for parasites and ringworm. He went into hibernation and was released again in 2023. Now he’s back again with ringworm and suspected lungworm. He looks small in the bath but he’s a big boy at 1.2kg!

The busy time of year for hedgehog rescues is coming up and my funds are low. I appreciate times are still hard but if everyone who follows me donated a pound that would be another £400 in the kitty.
If you can spare a £1 or more please donate via PayPal using friends and family to [email protected]

Thank you from Lisa and the hedgehogs.

OPEN OPEN OPEN OPEN OPEN OPEN OPEN

Yes my Hedgehog phone line is open again,at last. I’d like to apologise that my phone was off for so long but I just had no space and every time a space became available a hedgie came in from my local area and village.

So a lot has been happening here. I’ve been taking hedgehogs to volunteers to overwinter, moving hedgehogs from the shed to hutches, collecting hedgehogs that aren’t doing well whilst overwintering and taking a hedgehog out of hibernation because he’d lost too much weight! Phew I’ve been busy.

Due to all my lovely volunteers that took hedgies to overwinter i have some space. So if you do find a hedgie in need please call me.

First of all excuse the no gloves situation 🤦🏻‍♀️.
I am putting a shout out to all my lovely followers. Why? You ask.
Well my little rescue is getting busy and I am looking for some volunteers.
Duties include cleaning out and weighing hedgehogs. Helping me treat sick hedgehogs and on some occasions hand feeding hoglets.
So if you’d like to learn about rehabilitating hedgehogs and can spare 2 hours a week message me and I can arrange a visit.

Picture is off one of my gorgeous hoglets called Autumn.

Hey Everyone,
Sorry for the radio silence. Here’s what’s been going on since I reopened.
I quickly filled up with hoglets and juveniles, sadly I lost several due to severe parasite infections. Then I became ill with the flu, it’s been 3 weeks and I’m only just starting to feel better but still quite weak.
Due to this I switched my hedgehog phone to closed. However I still had 3 hedgehogs from Marchington in. I was literally crawling around having to do what I needed to.
So I am full again and currently have 19 hedgehogs with 3 in hibernation 🦔💤.
I’m only a small rescue and can’t manage anymore.
The pic below is of one of my hedgehogs being released a couple of months ago.

Meet my first 2 admissions since reopening.
Ruby 265g from Ashbourne found out during the day and Oscar from Swadlincote 230g also found out during the day.
Currently they are doing well and nothing detected in p**p as yet.

If anyone would like to help me fund looking after these gorgeous creatures please donate via PayPal. Details can be found in my about section. Thank you 😊

Well I’ve still been very busy! My months ‘off’ didn’t quite turned out as planned 😂. I currently still have 14 hedgehogs, these have mostly come from Marchington and people I’ve picked hedgehogs up from before.
However I have decided to reopen as I want to be there for the Autumn babies and juveniles.
My hedgehog phone is back on so please feel free to call or message me.

Hey Everyone, I’m still closed to new admissions (however I’ve had a fair few from Marchington).
Currently I have 15 hedgehogs so I’m still working away.
Some happy news now, remember hoglet Harmony, well the picture on the right is her as a 3 day old hoglet (36g) and the picture on the left is Harmony on her release day 860g.
She was released in my garden and she comes to the feeding station every night. I believe she lives in one of my hedgehog houses too.
I do still need donations to help these gorgeous animals. If you can help out I’d be grateful, my PayPal link is in on my bio page.
Love to you all from Lisa and the hedgehogs 🦔❤️🦔❤️🦔❤️🦔❤️🦔❤️🦔❤️🦔❤️🦔

As of this moment I am Closed as I am full of babies and Juveniles. Also due to my health declining I am going to be taking a break but not for long. Once all my prickly patients have been released(17 Hedgehogs) I’m going to take a couple of weeks off and then open again.

I need to be at my best to care for these gorgeous angels so after much thought I decided to close for a bit.

If you have a hedgehog that needs help go to www.helpwildlife.co.uk. After putting in your postcode it will list all the rescues near you.

I’ll put another message up when I’m open. Don’t forget about me though as I am still here and like I said I will reopen soon!

EDIT: I’ve chosen the names Dyson and Vax. I thought that was very apt 😂

These two little munchkins are from different litters but around the same age. The red mark is not blood it’s the only colour nail varnish I had 🤦🏻‍♀️
I would like you all to choose 2 names for me 😊🦔🦔
Put your names in the comments and I’ll choose 2 of them.

I’m so proud of her for allowing me to be her ‘mum’🦔❤️.

Excuse the food on her face she’d just eaten 😂

I would just like to thank everyone that came to the Prickles in a Pickle Marchington Hedgehogspital during the open gardens. Due to your kindness and purchases I have managed to raise £502.
Myself and my 15 hedgehogs say thank you 😊 🦔❤️😊

Update: It appears as though it was a scam as people said. The notification actually appeared in my account and wasn’t just be email, which is why I was worried.
Thank goodness my page is still here!

Hey Everyone, I just wanted to let everyone know that the lovely people at Facebook may delete my page. According to them I have an infringement violation! What for I do not know as they haven’t said. 😤 If it does get deleted I will set up a new one. So if you see my page disappear I am still here and hedgehogging.

Here we have Harmony. She is between 3-7 days old. Sadly her nest was disturbed by a fox and her siblings passed away. Harmony is a fighter and is accepting feeds on her terms as she is a prickly ball of anger at the moment! 😂(this is her defence mechanism for the wild)
Please send all your love for this one.

Hooray!! I got all the names filled! I rubbed off the name and 🥁(drum roll) the winner is Rebecca Anne Louis with Spiky 🎉.

Every penny of ’Name the Hedgehog’ is going towards an ICU unit. Thank you everyone that had a go. Myself and the Hedgehogs appreciate it. 😊

A great video of a mummy to be hedgehog or mother going about it’s business during the day. This hedgehog is fine and does not need rescuing. However if a hedgehog is out during the day and not moving with purpose it needs help and the quicker the better.

23/04/2023

This is a handsome boy called Denny. He came to me about 3 weeks ago and he was very very sick. He had blood coming from his nose from a nasty infection as well as Capillaria and Lungworm. He lost 100g in weight which is a lot for this little guy but I could tell he was a fighter and wanted to live. He let me feed him by syringe 2mls at a time every couple of hours day and night. After about 5 days he started to get a little stronger and would eat from my hand and a few days later he started eating all by himself 😊
So along with very intensive care including subcutaneous fluids he has turned a corner. Denny is now gaining weight well! He is my little star ⭐️ 🦔❤️

Also I haven’t forgotten the name the hedgie competition for the wreath but I’ve still got some names to fill up.

If you would like a go at name the hedgie let me know and I’ll send the details.

Also if you can or would like to contribute to Denny’s care please donate by PayPal by typing in my rescues email address and it will be Lisa Wray. [email protected].

Thank you all 😀

I still have many names left to win this gorgeous Pom Pom wreath and Easter Egg. I can’t scratch the name off for the winner until all the names have gone.

Only £2 per name and it can be paid via PayPal at [email protected] (Lisa Wray)

The picture really doesn’t do the wreath justice it truest is beautiful 😍.

All funds will be going to Prickles in a Pickle Marchington Hedgehogspital towards an Incubator for very sick hedgehogs.
