🦜 Penny is DNA sexed female, hand reared and tame Green Cheeked Conure, Pineapple mutation 🦜

She's an absolute snuggle bug and the sweetest girl. She's ready to be reserved but we are currently working on "step up" but once she's mastered it, we are happy for her to go to a new home.
She currently prefers to climb into your hand rather than "step up" 🤣 which is rather sweet though!.

Kiwi is settling into our Parrot Rescue Sanctuary really well 🥰 we work hard to build trust and get to know all birds that come into our rescue, this allows us to match birds up with the best home for them! 🦜

🥝 Kiwi is still undergoing assessment but she already has a home secured. No enquiries about rehoming please! 💚

➡️ Alot of our birds that come into our Rescue don't get put up for adoption advertising.
Why is this❓️
This is because we have an adoption form list that can be found on our website. Alot of the time we are able to successfully match birds from our adoption enquiry list. We will always adopt birds out to new homes with the best match and not on a first come first served basis!

🐦Animal Proteins and feeding them to Parrrots - don't do it!🐦 Why do people feed animal proteins to Parrots? -There has long been the belief that feeding animal proteins (eggs/meat etc) is a good way to provide parrots with sufficient amounts of protein and calcium in their diet. Why is it not necessary to feed them to Parrots? - The main issue that comes with feeding animal proteins is the animal based cholesterol involved. When fed regularly (as little as once a week!), accompanied with lack of exercise (there is very little chance that birds get the same amount of exercise as they do in the wild) and fed an all seed diet, chances of heart disease is very high, especially atherosclerosis. This can also be true for pellet fed birds based on the fact that pellets are formulated to have the necessary and safe proteins. Parrots are not Raptors🦅 There are much better ways to provide your parrot with the right amount of proteins and calcium into their diet without compromising your birds heart health; 🌿 Sprouted seeds pack a huge nutritional punch! They contain high levels of proteins, amino acids, antioxidants, living enzymes and vitamins to name a few! (Plant based proteins are much safer and natural your birds body, even when provided alongside pellets- it is recommended to provide alongside a wide, varied and NATURAL diet) 🌿 Calcium can be found in green leafy vegetables, Mustard greens, collard greens, dandelion greens, butternut squash, kale etc. As well as safe supplementation, when required, on top of food. *while feeding meat and eggs isn't unsafe in that moment (provided the meat or egg is FULLY cooked, without salt/any other additives) there are much healthier and more natural options that will benefit your bird in better ways. We, at Feathers & Tails don't recommend it.

Tallie is a Turquoise Cobalt Blue and Cobie is a Cobalt Blue. Both girls are picking up re-call training well and good at eating healthy foods. Hand-rearing a bird, doesn't necessarily mean tame, which is why don't just hand-reared our birds, we spend alot of time taming and teaching them! We ensure they are confident with people and get to know their individual personalities to find the right home for them.
