The Animal Behaviour and Training Council promotes excellence in animal behaviour and training and sets and maintains standards of knowledge and practical skills needed to be an animal training instructor 🐾

Check out Maggie & Lottie the lovely labradors with their certificates for ‘most impressive recall’ 🐶 Maggie’s owners sent in video footage of her recalling from a distance where you could not even identify her! And Lottie’s owners sent in footage of Lottie doing such a quick response to her cue which they had worked so hard on, well done girls 🥰🐶🎓

A lovely review from Lottie’s owners 🐶 Lottie completed and graduated from our Puppy Course and follow on Superpup Course and did a fab job! Her owners worked hard on regaining her attention when distracted which then fed into strengthening all her other behaviours. Lottie was always so pleased to be in class and I am missing her snuggles! 🥰 Well done Lottie & owners & thankyou for your review. Our Superpups got into the competitive spirit at their graduation on a mini obstacle course! The results are in: 🥇 Nellie with 19s! 🥈 Madge and Skyr joint with 25s 🥉 Lottie closely behind with 28s 🏅 4th for speed but 1st for sniffing, Miss Martha! Well done everyone 🐶

Cooper showing us his lovely heel position in class at the weekend - we had to adapt our technique to stop his lead getting caught in his leggies 🐾 He did a fab job following the lure and learning that being at the side of a hooman is more reinforcing that being ahead of us, good job Cooper 🐶⭐️

HERE COME THE SUPERPUPS 🦸 Recall is one of the behaviours which can easily regress during adolescence, and all of these pups are in different stages of adolescence too so we need to adapt to the individual to better set them up for success. We worked hard on giving the recall cue once the dog had engaged with the handler or disengage from the distractions. Well done Madge, Martha, Lottie, Skye & Nellie 🐶🐾
LOTS OF RECALL INCOMING 🏃♀️🐕 I had an extra hand today to take some videos and got some great recall footage from the first and 2nd class. This is only week 2 and look at the fab recall from the pups! This week we worked on distance and then added in a distraction (toy play) to recall from. To help set them up for success we made sure we reduced the distance when adding the toy and kept the play short and sweet. Well done Cooper, Luna, Buster and Little Luna 🐶🐾
