If you give your child a pony, they will want to ride. You’ll buy them the best pony you can find, followed by a helmet, boots and all the other things pony.
You look for a local barn to ride at where you start to socialize with the equestrian community…………And then life as you know it, will end.
Before you know it, they want to show so you find a circuit …..There will be no more lazy weekends watching tv. You will see more sunrises than you ever thought possible.
Every spare minute of your time will be spent hauling campers, horse trailers and horses and enduring a crazy addiction to practice for the next show.
Your house may be a mess, and your car will be dirty. All because you gave your child a pony. Your weekends will be spent freezing or burning to death on a fold up chair. And their weekends will be spent gaining confidence and friends, learning new skills and having fun and getting dirty!!!!
You will be there the day he or she takes the first few steps of canter, the first taste of a jump, first ribbon, first championship. And they will make you SO proud. Other parents will congratulate you, but you feel weird saying thank you because it's not you on the pony, it’s your child. It's everything that they did, they achieved. And right before your eyes, your little boy/girl will be transformed from the baby who bounced around on their rocking horse into an exceptional young horse enthusiast on the hunt for the next pony finals or maybe even the Olympics!
When you give your child a pony , you give them more than just something to ride. You give them a sport, a talent, hope and dreams. Friends, a new family, a place to learn about life, room to grow as a person where they can push their limits, and bravery, and courage, and memories. And they will have ALL of these things, simply because you gave your child a pony.
Because you gave your child a pony, you too will develop new/lifelong friendships, developed solely from the same passion for the sport. You will have a equestrian family because you gave your child a pony.
Then one day, many years from today…they will be in their room and a certain trophy will catch their eye. And they will pick it up and realize instantly that when you gave your child a pony, you also gave them a childhood that they would never forget, at this point, you realize that everything you gave up along the way and sacrificed was totally worth it…..
All because you gave your child a pony📷 📷📷

Ruby is home for Christmas!! 🥰♥️🎅🏼🐴
After an emergency drop off to Rainbow Equine Hospital Ruby spent 10 days in ICU, she was very unwell and it was touch and go if she would pull through ♥️ The team at Rainbow have done an amazing job and Ruby is on the road to recovery

She had her sparkle back today and jumped on the horsebox in true Ruby style 🥰 ✨

Thanks to her lovely owners for the card and chocolate 🥰

Tigger unsure of his sleep over at the vets, bless him! ♥️ He knew what was ahead of him this time … 15 hrs starvation for his rescope 🫣

Take a look at this fabulous charity for thoroughbreds ♥️ Jacqui and the team do a fab job! All the horses get 5* care and really have the best home they could wish for.

We transported the lovely Tigger to Hirds on Monday to be rescoped for Ulcers ♥️ he was such a good boy for us but he does stress when he is out of his usual routine, as you can imagine he was very glad to be back on home turf 🥰🐎

Tigger was taken by lovely Frances of Equi-Move yesterday, he travelled well but rolled a few times on arrival at Hirds Veterinary Clinic in Shelf - she called to ask if this is usual, she’d thoughtfully stayed until a vet was in attendance and then put the vet on the phone .. to be fair he does roll on a fresh bed, when his rug comes off, sometimes when a rug goes on.. the tell tale sign of colic with this boy (he had a colic op when racing) is lip curling and pawing - rolling on its own not so much - his pulse and respiratory rates were up too, but his gut sounds were good.

He teeth grinds sometimes but this is usually when he wants his dinner - a 15 hour fast will not go down well with him 😢

A chat with the vet ‘any issues I’ll ring you, if you don’t hear he’s ok’ didn’t allay my fears so another sleepless night (I really am becoming the epitome of ‘I’ll sleep when I’m dead’ these days - not through choice)

Just about to get up, mix him a quick feed (last time even after starving he turned his nose up on the clinic’s offering) - of course this will disturb the others so they’ll get a little feed - before heading up there to be with our boy and bring him home

I’ve decided this will be his last scope regardless - he didn’t want to go, I’m happy to take advice but even if we just assume they’re still there, or they’ll come back we can feed him accordingly

Problem with Tigs is he’s got more and more stressed as he’s got older; is it ulcers first or as a result? Eliminate ulcers and we should know in theory, but we need to manage his stress levels more to prevent recurrence

He hates being in the field; walks the fence line getting more and more agitated until we bring him in; he’s only happy in, with the run of the barn, but that requires his friends in too, which isn’t fair - manageable in winter but not so much in summer

I’ve just ordered Hempine CBD again from the lovely Jo, this amazing product is a go to for a gazillion ailments

I’d rather have a natural all round approach and this looks like a good way to go

Wish our boy the best of British, one way or another he isn’t going in again .. he’s too old for the stress .. and so am I

It has been a thoroughbred type of day today 🐎 🐎

This is Venga 😍 sleepy after her sedation😴
She is on her third visit with us to Hirds vets and finally her leg cast is down to just a stable bandage! 🎉
She can now enjoy some time in the field which I’m sure she will be very happy about 😀
🤞 she stays on the right track and we are back in 6 weeks for the vets to sign her off 🥰

This week we transported Sovereign ♥️ I transported her a few years ago and knew she could come with a little bit of sass 💁🏻‍♀️😆🐴

When I arrived she was already so stressed in the stable so we didn’t start on the best hoof, she put her brave pants on and loaded fairly fast but we sure knew we had her on board!

She has gone full circle and is in safe hands where she will have an early retirement.. which I’m sure she will love!

She gave a sigh of relief as she was turned out in the herd, to see her stress levels instantly come down was lovely

And she even walked across the field to the horsebox as I drove back out of the farm 😍
Happy retirement ♥️♥️
