⭐️CHEMOTHERAPY COMPLETED ⭐️
Today we’re celebrating Lola, who has officially completed her chemotherapy course!
Lola first came to us in September 2024 and was later diagnosed with MUO (Meningitis of Unknown Origin). MUO can cause neck pain, fever and neurological changes, but Lola’s signs were very subtle, making her case a real challenge. Her initial bloodwork, CT scans and tests were largely normal, and although she seemed brighter in hospital, she repeatedly showed signs of pain at home.
One breakthrough came while Lola was eating - she dipped her head to her bowl, yelped, and then refused food until it was raised up. This was the very first clear sign of pain we’d seen during her stay, and it led us to pursue an MRI scan.
An MRI scan was performed that we found lesions consistent with MUO, and after tests came back negative for neospora and toxoplasma, the diagnosis was confirmed. Once treatment began with chemotherapy and steroids, Lola started to improve, visiting us every 3–4 weeks for Cytarabine.
Her journey hasn’t been easy, but Lola has shown incredible resilience - and her owners’ dedication in pursuing answers has been vital to her recovery.
We’re so proud of Lola and thrilled to be celebrating this milestone today! 💛
