Our ponies are taking a well deserved break for a week during the Easter holiday. Our fabulous team of volunteers will be waiting on them hand and hoof as they spend time relaxing in the fields. 😄

His mum tells us: "Cody attends Wakefield Riding for the Disabled Association every week. The staff and volunteers are an amazing support to him. The service has worked wonders for his confidence not to mention the physical impact it has on his core strength and stability. Here is a gorgeous photo of Cody giving his horse, Bill a gentle hug. This is something he would not have dreamt of doing before he started his riding lessons." 💙💛

It’s been a lovely day in the sunshine. Our horses have been enjoying time without rugs on during the day and we’ve been able to work in the outdoor arena too.
Camphill Wakefield student Daniel is working towards an ASDAN qualification and today’s module was focussed on parts of the horse and the correct order for grooming. Blue was the perfect model for the parts of the body and Ellie enjoyed a good groom. 😃

Here are some lovely pics from earlier this week. Can you believe it was actually nice enough to ride in the outdoor arena on Monday. We thought Spring was here! It was back indoors yesterday and today!
Today Josh firth farriery was here for a routine visit.
And we even squeezed in a visit to Dial Wood Carriage Driving for the Disabled for a participant to experience their horse simulator!

Do you want to do something different and get active?
Have you considered volunteering but are not sure where to start?
Are you 14 years old or over?
Are you available regularly on a Monday or Wednesday, any time between 3.30 – 7.30pm?

If you answer ‘yes’ or ‘maybe but want to know more’ then please get in touch!

We need additional volunteers to join us for our RDA activities on Mondays & Wednesdays from late afternoon to early evening from April to the end of October. There is a short application process which includes completing an application form, with details of 2 people we can contact for references and, if you are over 16, you will need to complete a DBS check, (there is a small, discounted, fee of £12.00).

Full training and support will be provided.

Well what a fantastic evening we had last Friday!

We raised an amazing £1438.00!! This will go directly towards the running of our group.

Thank you so much to Colours Fundraising Fashion Shows for putting on a fabulous show with so many lovely clothes to choose from.

We’d also like to thank them for donating raffle prizes along with The British Oak, Venture Studios Leeds and everyone who donated raffle prizes.

We’d also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported us on the night. We also hope you enjoyed the show!

And finally we couldn’t do any if this without our brilliant volunteers who give up their valuable time to make sure everything runs like clockwork. 👏👏👏

To put the amount raised into the context of our day to day running it could :-

Cover our annual RDA Membership

We could use it to buy the equivalent of 31 round bales of hay

It would pay for 6 months routine farriery with Josh firth farriery and physiotherapy care with Rachel Thornton Veterinary Physiotherapy

Update! We raised an amazing £962.00 with tickets, cakes and raffle! ❤️ Every single penny of that will go towards the running of our group.

Wow! What a wonderful, fascinating evening we had!

First of all we’d like to say a huge thank you to Ridings Equine Vets for supporting our fundraising and organising the event in such a fantastic way. It was genius! It must have taken a lot of preparation before hand - and also required their team to ‘host’ the tables. We are eternally grateful to have your support.

Our leg dissection evening was a sell out and judging from the comments everyone really enjoyed it. We played ‘musical chairs’ as each table had a different aspect, so everyone visited every table throughout the evening. There were lots of chances to ask questions, and even examine the ‘specimens’ if people wanted to!

There was a raffle and we had our usual cake and refreshment stall. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Rachel Thornton Veterinary Physiotherapy, CE Dressage, AY Horsemanship and Sellequine for their very generous raffle prize donations.

Also a huge thank you to everyone who bought tickets, ate cake, drank coffee and bought raffle tickets!!! You are helping to keep our group running.

And thanks also go to our dedicated volunteers who made the evening run so smoothly.

It’s a sell out! We are so excited about this Thursday’s event!

We are busy planning the room layout so everyone will have as good a view as they want!

The audience will be split into small groups for the ‘practical’ part of the evening.

We will be serving tea, coffee and our usual cakes throughout the evening so please bring a little cash as we don’t have a card machine.

There will also be a raffle with lots of lovely prizes, so again please have a little cash.

Every penny raised will go directly towards the running of our group!

There’s been another supermarket theme running through today’s sessions.

Participants had a shopping list, chose groceries from the stand and put them into a shopping basket. They then rode around the arena until they found the matching card and put their shopping in the correct place.
