Being asked today what was the biggest part of training a dog....

Took me a good few minutes of contemplation. Recall.

Anyone that knows me knows I rarely do leads. Obviously we have ones we are working on but recall is my major in the dog world.

Freedom to a degree. Especially in some of the working breeds we see nowadays. And you wouldn't believe the power of a good off lead walk.

Many seek to accomplish so many behaviour issues straight away, whereas I see giving your dog's what it needs combats many issues to begin with.

I've never owned any kind of collar other than a normal one.

I have 0 desire to adopt this training tool.

Good diet. Good exercise. Socialisation. Freedom and most importantly, I gulp when I say this.... structure. Whether that word is taken as obedience a good solid leader of your dog is the major part.

I see south Yorkshire police going under due to dog attacks. I see people unable to take control of their dog and it saddens me.

It's actually very simple. Dogs love being led. Dogs love structure. And every dog should understand the word no. It actually can be a life saver!

As my old mentor said to me...

Treat a dog like a child. And see how quickly they treat you like a dog. It's totally true.

A calm, gentle structured leader will gain a true 4 pawed best mate for all adventurous.

Max has joined the petpaws gang this weekend and has smashed his trial.... 🐕❤️. Wonderful lad he is. And Ralph's best mate I can see fun ahead!

Last weekend i had to do something I've never ever done before, I had to send a boarding client (new to us) to a family members. It was clear she was terrified, didn't eat, nor toilet so I gave up on a 2 week booking to do what's best for her not us!

So i think I'm going to have a age limit. Obviously it depends on the dog but I reckon 11 years and above at the moment may not be a good idea. Though I think a trusted home pet sitter would have been more appropriate for her.

Anyway the last picture is of my little lady lolling about in the most comfy of beds while I drag my butt up for work 🤣🤣🤣.

So yesterday I couldn't add Marlow!! Purely because I had not 1 decent picture 🙄🙄.

We got him today though. Marlow is an OG to us and his gang all respectfully went up to say "what's up" and off they went with their gang complete again 😁😁😁.

It's so great to have him back . ❤️

Sooooo let's introduce the newbies.....

Saluki Potter and white curly fluff bomb is milo.

Now milos been with us for a while and had absolutely shocking seperation anxiety/fomo 😊😊.

His lady owner cried dropping him off as he cried to not be dropped off and it's been a few weeks of teaching him that actually being a dog, is fun. Of course brunos charms are hard to resist 🤣🤣.

And Potter, finding himself on the street, always astounds me how cruel folk truly can be.

Nervous, intact, no social skills really but our gang's have really taken to him so hopefully onwards and upwards.

We don't hide from what your dog is afraid of. We don't believe it helps. We believe in proper experience, knowledge of them and us and dog power.

And when I say proper experience. I really do mean it. Not the multiple answer exams online neither. 😬😬😬

Heidi, ludo, drew, stan, Hugo, Rosie and Duke, milo, bruno, cooper, Benji oakley. Though Bruno seems to have escaped every single photo!! 🙄🙃

I often watch and wish I had just a pinch of their energy 😊😊. But adore seeing them dicking about!!

Seems we are here again. I'm thinking of you all this weekend and next.

I know the ones who'll bark and not care. And I know the ones that will be terrified.

Create a safe place, turn stuff up to drown it out. Walk well before the evening and try to have a good walk too. A tierd pooch will settle better.

Since our caravan a couple of years back on new years my little lady is terrified so I'll be by her side.

Bertie doesn't care 1 bit, he actually watches them😉😉.

Stay safe. And please even if your just doing a garden toilet, keep that lead on you never know when your pooch will get freaked and bolt!

I've never separated big and small. Totally no need at all. The big always respect the small and the small doesn't give 1 crap about the big 😉😉.

Back tomorrow can't chuffing wait. I'm starting to sieze up from not moving and don't have to worry about another dreaded appointment until 31st January. Hurrah!!🥳🥳🥳

I'm talking about it. Sorry but I am. But I have included a lovely photo of dip who came for a trial at the weekend and is utterly amaze balls. Plus I love his quiff!!!

Righto serious business. I'm finishing Friday 20th December and back Monday 6th January 2025. Sssshhhh don't tell Mr petpaws just yet as he thinks I'm having another week and I'm not, boredom will have set in on day 3 and by 2 weeks in I'll have no hair or relationship 😁😁😁.

So off from Friday 20th December until Monday 6th. From 27th of December I'm uncontactable as the tranquil beaches of Cornwall do become us!!! 😁😁😁

Ps I know i keep going on but please if you have dates for boarding in 2025 let me know , I'm for the 1st time ever running 2025 and 2026!! Crazy at the moment.

Can I talk about a ickle matter.......

Invoices. They need paying. Unfortunately a small few think I work for free, I don't. Nor does ley.

If I leave an invoice I expect payment within 2 days. I have bills to pay and don't see why I need to keep chasing.

I'm really sorry but if you could imagine what it would feel like if your boss paid you when they felt like it, it isn't great.😪😪😪

Please clear your invoices or walks and availability may be effected.

The van is on the road again. It needed a new battery.

Evening all, hope you're good and slightly squiffy 😅😅.

Sooooo there are many people/ nutjobs out there that believe dogs don't need other dogs. And pack mentality doesn't exist 🙄🙄.

I won't swear but you can kinda understand my views on it.

An example this week. My little lady, my ickle pop tart has had a poorly eye. I've bathed it, kept her ring of shame on, socks on all paws and I've ummed and arrded as to take her to the vets!!

Yesterday, this gem of a staffy ( horrid fighting breed apparently,) went up to my little girl and sniffed, licked her eye. I knew instantly she needed the vets. You had to see it. The knowledge of him understanding. The care he felt for her. And the love too it was all there in seconds.

Jaxson is possibly the best lad I've come across. We love him soo much in our gang.

And my ickle princess has a £ 104 eye infection 😳😳😳.

Dogs need each other. More than we think. ❤️🐕❤️🐕.

I know my page is generally all happy happy but today I've something important to discuss and inform.

I shall be leaving new terms and conditions for every dog walking client next week. I simply cannot keep going with so much disorganisation.

72 hours notice will now ne required to cancel walks or full charge will be made.

I need to know by Sunday afternoon/Monday morning latest as to what you and your pooch require that week.

5 days a week is discounted. If 5 days are not used the walk will change to £10 per walk for the remainder of the week.

If your dog isn't walked with us a minimum of 1 walk a week , we will not hold the slot anymore. In the same breath if we start seeing massive gaps in between regular walks and behaviour issues alongside it. We will again end the walking.

Noone sees what happens behind the scenes of planning care for upto 30 dogs. I can assure you an awful lot goes into planning and it's totally unfair to not consider us too and the other dogs! 2 dogs missed out today due to all the lack of communication.

Communication is a great tool.

Rant over but I can assure all that this is not only set in stone I've added concrete on it too.

Many thanks and as always I truly appreciate your support. It doesn't apply to everyone no but unfortunately I have to set it now before I loose my mind.

Morning........ thought I'd throw this out there a meeting/ dick around between tramp and Ralph. Now we know both dogs and trust 1 totally. The white guy is tramp. Look at his tail wagging like crazy but I can assure you this guy isn't going to play. So many people assume wagging tail means happy. It doesn't. Wagging tail in this video means I'm OK with you but il boss I'm holding my ground. Look how Ralph the German pointer goes beyond silly to try lure him in. And then how our bertie comes in and ends it! Wagging tails isn't always play mode. Watch the other body movements, stiff body, head up no eye contact. It's a good job big uncle Ralph is the best at communicating.
