This beauty had his first training session with It's Not Magic Dog Training @ Ally's Dog House a few weeks ago when his pawrents reached out for help with teaching him how to walk nicely on the lead - he was taking them for walkies rather than the other way round.
On learning more about him prior to the session it was clear that in addition to his identified training need, he was nervous around new people resorting to barking and his bark is BIG, getting over giddy and suffering apparent ‘hearing loss’ when around other dogs and losing all focus, leaving him struggling to perform the simplest of commands. As his owners said, ‘he is a quick learner but also a quick forgetter’
His first session ended up not focussing on loose lead walking but helping his owners understand him better in terms of why he was behaving the way he was, learning about how he learns and building the foundations for his future learning.
Fast forward 4 weeks to this evenings second session and the difference in this boy was astounding. His owner said that understanding their boy, his behaviours and going right back to basics had really helped them move his training on and what’s more it had been so much fun to do and was proving effective.
Foundations nailed, tonight we were able to start focussing on his individual training needs and he was fantastic.
Well done you three. Loving the looks of concentration and a happy, relaxed face!
