The many stages of an _Ally's Dog House initial training session.

This beauty had been taken to a previous trainer whose training methods made his humum feel uncomfortable as the techniques included aversive techniques and pain.

is ethical, kind, science based, achievable, effective and wait for it, fun - for everyone concerned.

Helping an owner understand how their dog learns helps them help their dog learn, progress and develop a range of skills.

A busy, giddy working cocker spaniel was shattered after his session showing the impact of brain training on the mind and body of an active mind and body.

It’s been a while - it was great to be back trudging through the autumn leaves with the boys having so much fun!

This beautiful boy first came for basic training with at just before Covid when he was a young pup. Today he returned for a reassurance session for him and his human mum as of late, he’s been showing some signs of anxiety and his family wanted to know how to help him.

His mum admitted today that she thought they were beyond the training stage having a now adult dog, but as with human learning, in dog training, there’s always something to learn for owners, the dogs and for me as a trainer.

We spoke about fear and how it can manifest itself in a dog’s behaviour - most commonly interpreted as ‘aggressive’ behaviour but how else can a dog tell us he’s afraid, and most importantly how we can help him and his family cope and teach him he’s going to be okay.

We built on the very basics of his training learnt all those years ago and his mum left feeling in a far better, knowledgeable and confident position about on together with her four legged friend.

This little sausage recently had her second training session with at .

She and her lovely mum sought help with this wee one’s recall and her ability to cope with doing everything asked of her when she was anywhere vaguely distracting - bearing in mind their main walking locations feature an abundance of pesky squirrels - this girl’s brain was blown half the time!

The improvement between her first and second session was impressive and showed that she and her mum had been working really hard together which was helped by mum understanding what her sausage needed from her.

The second session was a challenging as we trained outside so the distractions were much higher and was amazing - just look at her focus bottom right!

Great work girls!

So what’s the story behind the picture you might ask…Milo is a 6 month old giant in the making and he and his pawrents worked with a couple of evenings ago to work on his general obedience and good manners alongside helping him do things for longer than a nanosecond and develop some self control.

During the session we spoke about the importance of encouraging our dogs to exercise their brain as well as their physical being and THAT is the story behind the picture…
