To each and every person who made a donation to help Reggie, thank you.

He underwent his operation today and is recovering well. We raised £753 and are humbled by the care, kindness and generosity of local people for this little cat who had no one. Thanks to you he will now go on to make a full recovery.

Huge thanks also to Riverside Vets Nick who performed the operation at a hugely reduced cost to help.

This lovely boy Reggie has been signed over to us today after being hit by a car. He is a year old and has a very nasty broken pelvis. As he is so young, we want to help him keep all 4 legs, so he will need a very expensive operation. Our vets have agreed to do the operation at a massively reduced cost but it is still going to cost over £1000 so we are asking for your help.

It's that time of year again.

We hope you can come along to support us. Last year we rescued, rehabilitated and rehomed over 500 animals and this is our main fundraiser. We currently have 132 animals in our care.

We are a separately registered charity to the National RSPCA so are self funding.

2 weeks ago these kittens were found abandoned in a wooded area in a taped up box. They were about a week old and their eyes were still closed. We are hand rearing them around the clock and they are doing well, beginning to toddle around and play. Sadly a third kitten didn’t make it despite best efforts.

Smithy is a lurcher cross and is around 10 years of age. He came to us as his previous owner passed away. Smithy has a few lumps and bumps on his underside which the vet have said are fatty lumps. We are looking for Smithy to go to a local foster home so that these can be monitored at the animal centre and would remain under the care of our local vet.

Smithy can be a little wary of meeting new people so introductions would be done slowly, at his pace. The home we are looking for would be adult only and with someone that would be with him for most of the day.

Once he is familiar with a person, he is very sweet and playful and don't let his age fool you, he still loves zoomies and a mad half hour!
Smithy likes to play with soft toys and does best when he is with someone.

We are continuing to work with him meeting other dogs and getting familiar with other members of staff. Ongoing training and bonding time will be an essential part of his re-homing.

These cats were reported as being abandoned by their owner. The Inspector has brought them all in so we are just checking we haven't inadvertently taken a cat that doesn't belong with the group. They are all approximately a year old.

RSPCA Easter Raffle results

So after lots of time and effort from staff, it seems the fluey Feral cat Cracker does appear to like us a little bit after all. Still work in progress but coming along nicely 🥰

Shreddy came to us a few days ago, terrified. He was found with some nasty wounds to his head and neck which required veterinary treatment as they were so infected. He is continuing treatment at the Animal Centre. These wounds were abscesses, most often seen in unneutered males fighting over territory, he has now been infected with FIV as a result. Please do the right thing for your cat and help keep them safe. Have them neutered. There is lots of help available if you are struggling.

Milo was signed over by his owner to an Inspector. He has been vet checked, had a wound on his back treated, been neutered, FIV tested and is thankfully negative, he’s vaccinated, flea and worm treated and microchipped. He’s a 3 year old cuddle bunny! All he needs now is a new family to love him.

Our Story

We are a separate branch of the RSPCA and as such are reliant on the generosity of the public to keep our very busy branch going, helping local animals in the Wirral and Chester areas. We deal mostly with cats and last year in 2017 we rehomed almost 950 cats and for every cat we rehome there are many others waiting for our help. We can only continue helping these animals with your support.

Or call in. We normally house over 100 cats and that is a lot of cat pouches so we are always grateful of cat food donations as well as blankets and towels (sorry we can’t take duvets and sheets)

We also have a charity shop based in our Animal Centre, and are always looking for good quality household goods to sell. (We can’t accept larger items as we don’t have space).
