Just a 2-degree Celsius increase in a dog's body temperature is all it takes for heat stroke to kick in. Fatalities can occur in as little as 15 minutes. Never risk leaving your dog in the car for any length of time. Dogs can overheat very quickly and struggle to cool themselves down, even when a window has been left open or water provided. ⚠️
If you believe your dog has heatstroke, visit your vet immediately or contact your nearest out-of-hours Vets Now clinic.

Keep em cool
It's forecast to get warm again in parts of the UK, and while some humans will be celebrating 🎉 pets don't have the same "fun in the sun".
Heat Stroke is a life-threatening condition brought on by a sudden rise in body temperature. Your pets are especially at risk if they're exercised on warm days or left inside places like cars and conservatories 🔥
Spotting the signs of heat stroke early and seeking emergency treatment are significant in improving your dog's chance of survival.
If you suspect your animal has heat stroke, call your vet as soon as possible or call Vets Now and we can direct you to your nearest emergency clinic 🏥🚨
Visit vets-now.com/summer for lots of helpful pet care advice during warmer weather conditions 🌞

Be careful with those fur babies
❗️ Heat stroke warning
With temperatures soaring, please be aware of the signs of heat stroke in dogs – thank you to our friends at Vets Now for this handy reminder. Our furry friends can really struggle in the heat, so it is vital we keep them cool in these extreme temperatures 🐕
🐶 Walk in the early morning or later in the evening when it is cooler
💧 Always provide plenty of water
😎 Access to cool and shady areas
❌ Never ever leave your dog in a parked car on a sunny day
☀️ Watch out for the signs of heat stroke and seek veterinary care immediately if you are concerned
If you are due to attend a donation session with us this week, please be mindful of travelling with your dog in the heat. Keep them in an air conditioned car where possible and provide plenty of water. We will continue to review the situation and will ensure we are only running donation sessions if it is safe to do so. As always, the welfare of your dog is our top priority.
Stay cool 🙏

Just thought I’d put this out there to see if anyone is in a position to help 😇
Hi everyone, after yet another sleepless night, I need to write this post as I’m feeling so sick with the worry, there’s a constant knot in my stomach I can’t get rid of 😞and you’ve always said to reach out to you when I need your help.
This winter has been incredibly expensive on the sanctuary, the costs of making outdoor enclosures for the birds has cost us £500 just for the tarps and netting, the fencing and gates for the yard to keep the animals separated were £800, we had to have our muck heap removed which was £600, as you know the hay and straw bills are £500 a month, we’ve needed 5 tonnes of gravel for the chickens areas to control the mud, rubber matting to line all the pigs & sheep huts came to hundreds then there’s all the extra feeding costs as all the animals need supplementing with dry feed over the winter, plus numerous other costs, not to mention the usual vet bills.
Our funds are now gone, we have enough to pay the rent for February and that’s about it. We are running 100% on donations, we have no back up except you, you are literally keeping us from closing our doors. I do find the responsibility of it all weighs very heavily on my shoulders alone and I admit it’s very hard to cope with at times, especially when money is low, or things go wrong or an animal is sick.
I must add that the cow hut appeal raised £3100 (THANK YOU!) that money is safe and won’t be used for bills, it is booked to be built in March and we cannot wait to see the coos running free in the fields again 🙂
Can you help us please, it’s a desperate situation. Come spring we also need to rent the extra land that is attached to the sheep and pigs fields, for the cows so that will need to be fenced.
The £1 (or whatever you can afford) appeal is always so helpful.
Can you help us with a donation to get us out of the red and keep the animals safe and fed?
Thank you in advance, from the bottom of my heart & on behalf of all the animals, who have absolutely no idea what worry they cause me and probably couldn’t care less so long as they’re being fed 😁

Great news!
We're delighted to announce that the bill to increase maximum sentences for animal cruelty from six months to five years has finally passed through parliament! 🎉 Blue Cross has campaigned for this law, with other animal welfare charities, for many years and we are delighted that progress has happened. This law will now send a message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated.
