Back in July last year, we were granted a licence to start up Day care. We received the highest possible rating we could achieve, which is a 4 star, 2 year licence. The highest rating achievable is 5, but for all new Day care business, 4 is the most they can get in their first year or two of trading. We were quite proud of this. There was a lot of preparation regarding paperwork and getting the place ready for inspection. And to be honest, quite stressful.
Offering Day care was something I'd been toying with on and off for a long while, and finally took the plunge to offer it as a service. Sadly, Day care for us, has proven not to be a popular service. We had hoped by offering something different than a typical commercial or home setting, we'd be a popular choice. This hasn't been the case, and although we do have some Day care clients, majority are our original play session group that continue to be a part of our family. Something needs to change for us to continue with Day care. What can we do to help our dog family grow?? Is there something else we could offer to improve the service? I'm very open to suggestions.
At the moment the place is going through some changes to improve and make the place more inviting. This is costing a fair few pennies and we do have plans for late spring to offer something no other facility offers (all to be revealed and all for the dogs enjoyment). However, I personally go through a mixture of emotions constantly, from positive to reluctant, to motivated to disheartened, back to positive and it's just constant yoyoing. It's draining. I'd love for the Day care to continue, but we need more dogs to join us. There is just so much competition out there at the moment and lots of great Day care businesses locally, I feel it's a constant battle to compete and wonder if it's worth it. The likelihood is, if we don't see an increase of dogs joing Day care in the next couple of months, I'll sadly have no choice but to cease this part our business and just continue with the play sessions and walks.

Monday saw us welcome Doug the pug to our sessions 😃. Some of you may remember him, as he used to come a while ago, and has now returned, yay. We also challenged Sophie to crawl through Gus the caterpillar. She had some help off Skye 🤣

POST FOR VISITORS!!

We are currently undergoing some maintenance works onsite and these will be happening over the next month or two. Some of the work is being done by myself as, and when I can, and other jobs, by trades. So, there may be some disruptions around the site when you visit.
However, the dog park is still available for private bookings.
