Milkybar and Malteser
It’s going fantastic for 3 weeks in. Malteser and Milkybar were about to sent to a cat colony in Spain in an attempt to save them from the LORCA list. They did not like being touched and were not thought to be adoptable
Blossom (now named Beanie) enjoying her first Xmas in her foster home. She passed her health check with flying colours last week! She’s so much happier
Phoebe’s eye, nowadays. Definitely looks better. She’s doing great. Unfortunately she will need eye drops long term and it’s difficult for her, us and her future owners.
Chive and Parsley are doing really well in foster care and are coming out of their shells slowly but surely. What sweet lovely girls.
Phoebe
A Phoebe update for everyone who put in her fundraiser. It’s been 11 days now post op and her eye is starting to open up a bit. They got most of the membrane off it and for obvious reasons it was very swollen. There was some membrane that they couldn’t remove and there’s scarring in the corner that won’t get better. She’s also not producing enough teardrops out of her poorly eye and might need drops for artificial teardrops further along the line. However, the vet did a few simple tests on her yesterday and she can see out of it to some extent. She’s also a lot more comfortable being touched but some of this could obviously just be due to being more comfortable in her environment now. She has a home lined up in January and probably won’t come back down to the cafe now. She has been staying with Roxy as she needs eye drops three times a day. She is now very settled in a home environment and we don’t want to unsettle her by bringing her back to the cafe. She has another check in three weeks. Her dental went fine.
Blossom, playing
A little update - little Willow was spayed and chipped today. Pasta had 8 teeth taken out on Monday and goes to her forever home on Saturday. Lyra and Julian also leave for their forever homes on Saturday. Celine is officially reserved. Phoebe has a lovely couple interested in meeting her and will have her dental and eye operation on Friday. Enjoy the video of Blossom ferociously playing last night.
Willow
Little Willow, the second of Saturday’s arrivals. She is blossom’s daughter. She is nervous but sweet

Fish breakfast
As it’s payday for our other jobs, we decided to treat the cats to tuna this morning. I’ve always been massively taken aback by how appreciative rescue cats are of small treats. My own cats have great grandmas and nanas that buy them treats regularly. These are luxuries that cats that have spent their lives as strays and then in shelters with 100s of other cats just don’t experience. We’re lucky that we occasionally can spoil them out of our own pockets. #catcafe #newcastleupontyne #thebadcatcafe
Celine
She’s decided she quite enjoys it - unlike the other six. Book in to meet Celine and friends 10-4 tomorrow and Saturday, or 10-4 Monday-Sat next week. You will need an appointment. #blackcat #catcafe #October2024 #halftermfun #newcastleupontyne
Playtime
We’ve never really had a bunch of cats less interested in cat wands as we do at the moment. We’re busy trying to find new ways to entertain them. #thebadcatcafe #catcafe #newcastleupontyne
Puzzle feeders
This week we had a puzzle feeder donated and some of the cats have been making good use of it. They’re great for cats that eat too fast, but also great for mentally stimulating smart cats #thebadcatcafe #catcafe #newcastleupontyne
