Bonfire night is upon us, whilst it's fun for some of us, for others not so much. More so our pets. Here's our tips for surviving the seasons festivities.

🎆 Ideally walk before dark. Make sure all leads, harnesses and collars are fitted securely with no rips or tears. Keep on leads at all times. If you can't get out before the bangs start, missing a walk here or there won't hurt. Especially if your pet some some brain games to work with at home.

🎆Make sure cats and outdoor pets are inside, or at the very least in a safe and secured outdoor environment. Covered to drown out the light flashes and sound down a bit. This is also helps with warmth.

🎆 Close the curtains and have yourself or someone familiar stay with your pet. Make as little recognition to the bangs as possible. The less fuss we make, the less of a deal it will be. Give gentle reassurance if needed.
Play music/TV on to help drown out the noise of the bangs outside.

🎆 Use enrichment toys to help calm. Snuffle Mats, Licky Mats, Dog Activity Games and Puzzle toys make fantastic distractions, especially when food motivated. Get your pet so engrossed in a good food game they will forget all about the bangs outside.
This is great for dogs and even cats and rabbits!

🎆 Make a den. Blankets over crate or back of sofa with nice comfy bedding to lay on. Layer with natural pet appropriate calming items or chew toys. Let this be your pet's safe space and don't disturb.

🎆 Give them natural calmer - oil, drops, treats, pheromone diffusers, valerian root, matatabi, catnip (for cats) are great choices.
Pressure point vests can also work.

The cabin will be open today - looked after by our lovely neighbour cabin Simply & Walker at The Brambles
