The results are in from our Free Motion saddle testing, some great results with an average of 11% less “bounce” seen with our 10 test horses. Meaning a more secure feel for the rider and less fatigue for both horse and rider. #jeremyrudgesaddlery #freemotionsaddles #saddlefit #horsecomfort #horseperformance
We had an exciting end to the week last week, doing some more testing on the Free Motion saddles using an accelerometer. The sun even shone for us this time. Many thanks to everyone who helped and all the riders and horses who took part, you know who you are. We now have loads of data to sift through and will you the results as soon as they are ready. #jeremyrudgesaddlery #advatagegirth #horsecomfort #horseperformance #saddletesting
We tried a little experiment to see if we can get a different view of a bare tree on a horse in motion to show the fit across his back giving stability and even contact. The photo at the beginning is a static photo to show just the tree, there is thin felt pad under tree in the videos for his comfort and to attach the girth straps. #jeremyrudgesaddlery #advantagegirth #saddlefitting #horsecomfort #horseperformance
The 100% synthetic V2 Advantage Girth, quick and easy to wash and ready to use again. #jeremyrudgesaddlery #advantagegirth #horsecomfort #horseperformance
The V2 Advantage Girth is available in leather or full synthetic, same great design 2 different materials. #advantagegirth #jeremyrudgesaddlery #horsecomfort #performancegirth
I just want to take a moment, to appreciate how much horses can and do change. This video starts with the tree that did fit and shows the changes through the templates and the important thing to see from these templates is that the changes are all over not just the wither.
Always be aware of how much your horses elbow/shoulders move, every horse is different and requires freedom of movement. #advantagegirth #jeremyrudgesaddlery
We have had a lot of comments from the last few bare tree videos about the tree touching or being very close to the horses spine, these 2 videos are the same horse, the same day and most importantly the same tree just with the addition of the panel (it has just been tacked in place for the purpose of this video not attached as it would be in finished saddle) To show how the panel supports the tree over the horse back.
So you already have a super cute 2 tone jump saddle, what do you need now? A super cute 2 tone dressage saddle OBVIOUSLY!!!🤣🤣 many thanks to Becky Irwin riding Pimms 🐴
You all seem to have loved our tree videos so we thought we should take a closer look at the trees (off horse) but here in the workshop on our jig so we can see the differences in the width of the twist and angle of the rails. Showing how different they are from each other and what different horses they are suitable for.
Hands up 🙋♀️if you loved bright coloured saddles 🌈
Over the last 2 weeks we have been able to carry out a small pilot test using an Accelerometer on our new Free Motion panels compared to standard wool flock panels to test stability. The early results show an average of a 17% less ”bounce” so a smoother more comfortable ride for both horse and rider. The Free Motion panel is a new and exciting development, that we have been working on for the last 3 years more info to come.
Remember when checking the tension of your girth, check between your horses front legs, this gives a much more accurate guide as to how tight your girth actually is. For horses that are narrow behind the elbow in the arm pit area the girth will always feel loser and you risk over tightening.
Absolutely loving this Birds Eye view video, it shows just how much movement and skin horses have in the whole elbow/armpit area. Many thanks to Victoria Leidig riding the lovely Milo for the video. Victoria says Milo has never gone better and is a joy to ride with his Advantage Girth. #AdvantageGirth #JeremyRudgeSaddlery
I think this video shows the importance of thinking about saddle trees in 3D form not just a 2D width fitting, this tree is an ok width fitting but far too curved and just rocks.
Well we thought we should show trees on moving a horse, our last 2 tree vids have been on a static horse, so this is the same horse, same tree but on the lunge this time. There is a super thin leather lined felt pad under the tree to protect his back and to provide girth straps. But so great to be able to see a little of what is happening inside his saddle, it is balanced, stable and clear of his shoulder.
Just love some of these colour combo’s 🌈 go as bright as you want😎
This is next image I want to show and I think it is my favourite as it is a view so rarely seen as you can kind of see “inside the saddle”. This is the exact same tree on the same horse but with a panel in this time. Again we have a static horse and no tension as there is no girth straps but you can see the how much clearance has been created by the panel.
You may remember a few weeks ago we posted a video of 3 different trees on the same horse, we had loads of comments/questions so we thought it would be nice to look in alittle more detail and at things not generally seen. I fully appreciate the limitations this is a few seconds of video on a static horse but every saddle fit has to start somewhere and for me this is a good place to make that start, finding a tree that is a compatible shape so test saddles that are built on that tree can be selected.
