I had a couple of cases yesterday that made me ponder the importance of a good ultrasound scanner. My first lady had decided to come in earlier than planned. Her girl wasn't herself and she was concerned. The scan showed early Pyometra, I was able to book her in with my preferred vet and the bitch was spayed and is doing well.

The second girl had a retained puppy after delivering her litter two days prior. Again they were referred to my preferred vet and ultimately she needed a c-section.

Early Pyo, to the untrained eye, can look like pregnancy. It's a mistake I've seen people make before. Last week I had a girl come in for a reverse progesterone test as her owner's were planning a c-section. She's been scanned at 7 weeks by someone else. However I asked to scan her before running the test. The girls was empty.

3 years ago I attended ultrasound training I spent time scanning my dogs, and friend's dogs for free. And had to help from another breeder clinic / friend. The experience I gained was invaluable and allowed me to confidently start my business. ❤️❤️❤️
