A big welcome to our first puppy recruits of 2025!

Such a lovely mix of breeds. Say hello to:

They made a fantastic start to the course with some excellent settling on their mats and some very enthusiastic recalls!

I'm very excited to announce that tonight I started Reactivity Coach course! By successfully completing many sessions, workshops, and assignments (both practical and written), I will be an approved Reactivity Coach!

Lots of learning, practical exercises, and real-life cases to be examined.

Some very chilly 121s on the field this weekend!

Following the amazing success of our last Assistant Trainer Claire , I was ably assisted by Loraine this week, our brand new Assistant Trainer! For those of you booked on to classes and 121s, you will soon be lucky enough to meet her, so please give her a warm welcome. Here is a little bit of info from Loraine:

'Hi I’m Loraine, I am very excited to be starting my journey shadowing Nicola as a dog trainer. I have a 4 year old English Springer Spaniel who enjoys participating in various sports and I am currently a certified dog walker and puppy trainer with IMDT and hope to take my dog trainer assessment in the near future. I am so grateful to Nicola for giving me this opportunity and can’t wait to meet all of her lovely dogs and clients.'

Rocky the 6 month old Cockerpoo was my first 121 of 2025! What a cutie he is! We looked at how best to prevent sock stealing and how to make sure he comes back when called. Can't wait to see him again next week!

I was devastated to hear that Ponyo, one of my superstar graduates, sadly passed away last week in a tragic accident.

With Ponyo's owner's permission and in loving memory of one of the sweetest, most gentle souls I've had the honour of helping train, I'd like to share some reminders about collar safety:

-if you're leaving your pup alone at home, please remove collars and harnesses, or if you're using a daycare provider, ensure they have a no collar policy for when pups may be unattended

-If you use a harness for walks, consider a breakaway collar for quick release in the home

-Ensure collars aren't too tight using the two finger rule and any harness is fitted properly

Please share this information to help others avoid such tragedy and feel free to get in touch for general safety advice if you need it.

Next up was the owners of gorgeous Mabel. Her new owners don't collect Mabel until New Year's Eve but wanted to make sure they were prepared! We discussed crate training, toileting, safe swaps and general puppy management. Looking forward to meeting her soon!

Final 121s of 2024 today!

Starting with the beautiful Mandy a rescue Ibizan Hound. Mandy struggles with her feelings when seeing other dogs on walks and gets quite upset, so we started by improving her engagement with her owners. Her companion Sydney was on hand to help reassure her (and steal the odd treat! 😁)
