Aquila, our PRE Fusion filly at nearly 10 months old.
A lot of the winter baby fluff is now out and I think she’s settling on this gorgeous chocolate antique gold. She is genetically buckskin EEAA, won’t grey.
She is doing so well, such a beautiful, healthy and confident foal. She is halter trained, leads nicely, fab ground work, ties, picks up feet and is not scared of really anything.
As much as it breaks my heart to let her go, I know she is going to be someone’s whole world and has so many exciting adventures in her future.
Her beautiful mother Phoenix is also available, I’d love for them to go together but would consider separating them for 6* forever homes.
What I’ve learned about the equine brain and how horses think and communicate has led me to try to do this…
Communicate peace and stillness as often as possible. So you’re not actively ‘thinking’ anything when you’re with them. They know when you have an agenda, baggage and self doubt.
If you’re just with them, or having a relaxed ride in nature, just cultivating an energy of safety and peace is the best thing you can do for both of you to keep you safe and relaxed.
If I’m asking them anything, or needing them to behave in a certain way of go a certain direction they might not otherwise do, I try to imagine us doing it together ahead of time. Horses communicate with mirror neurones in their brains (which we also have) and can read energy and intentions a far more sophisticated way than we usually do, so they understand things better if you envisage an outcome you desire before you suggest it.
I try to leave fear and self doubt behind, because I know my horse can hear my heartbeat from four feet away and feel my energy. Being a herd animal and a pray animal, that’s not an energy I want to project onto him.
I try to have an easygoing soft aura of safety, care, love and rest. As often as possible, even though this is difficult when there’s a lot to do and not very much time. Even when I have to apply pressure to teach something, I’m always coming back to this as a baseline. Even in the one second long micro releases between asks.
It’s not something anyone can get right all the time, but it’s something to always work on.
It starts with working on you first, you can’t show up for your horse in this way if you haven’t already learned to show up for yourself.
Ground work session with Spartan today. Working on our yields and our perfect baby stallion manners. 👌🏼🖤

Seeking 🏡
13.3 Welsh C gelding
Dream pony seeking forever human
Super pony looking for his forever human! Gray is a 13.3hh four year old papered Welsh C sooty palomino gelding with a heart of gold. He’s been with us for the last few weeks to start off his riding career and find a new home. He’s been exceptionally well handled since he was a foal and has been taught perfect ground manners while being given time to grow and mature. He’s been trained under the TRT Method ‘Preparing the Perfect Pony’ system and has fantastic groundwork, is trained to park by the block, to come back to the person in the middle when the rider stops riding, and to keep himself calm in all situations. He is hacking confidently and cantering out sensibly in a group, he goes in front or behind no problem at all. He has begun cantering and pole work in the arena so we can show prospective buyers but ideally he’ll do a lot more strength training out hacking before he’s schooled too much more in the arena. He’s being taught to find his balance and reach for the contact and is forward off the leg with a lovely soft mouth. He has never bucked, bolted or reared and barely looks at anything. He will make the ultimate allrounder and child’s best friend, or a fab partner for a lightweight adult. He will only go to a knowledgable 5* home. Asking 6🥕 for this little angel.
