My name is Tina I am a dog trainer and I use physiology and pyschology to get good results, it's good to have some knowledge of both. I believe that if you use energy and body language the dog will know where it stands. Observing and studying your dog's body language is a quick way to get good results. There are so many different behaviour theories around at the moment that dog owners are hard pre

ssed to find out which is correct. My best advice to you is to go with what works for you and your dog as long as you do not use any methods that is in anyway causing your dog physical pain or discomfort or resulting in him showing signs of being emotionally unhappy. My training methods are not always based on reward with food;
My reward is based on praise and massage and on fun,
It's better for your dog if you don't want your dog to lose its figure!! My behaviour theories are based on pack structure. I believe that your dog views itself as a member of a pack within your family and that you need to make sure that you are that pack's leader to ensure that you have ultimate control over your dog and to help your dog to be secure, happy and content. There is nothing threatening about this, every dog needs a leader. None of my methods involve physical domination or bullying. They involve creating an environment in which the dog knows its place in the hierarchal system using canine communication methods.

We love Scentwork at Dogwise!!

From Sports 121s to weekly group classes any age and breed of dog can enjoy searching 🐾

Here I am teaching Shady the newest recruit how to cover areas and basic indication training. We use lots of food and toys to motivate the dogs as well as lots of rewardment πŸ₯°πŸ¦΄

We also had Sassy watching on and showing Shady how it all works!

Ahead of Bonfire Night, we have teamed up with Magic Classical for the pawfect canine calming playlist 🎢

Calming Pet Sounds, presented by Emma B, plays relaxing classical music to help you create a calm and soothing atmosphere for your dog to relax in. Every dog responds differently to fireworks but staying calm and using music to mask the sounds outside can help improve behaviour during fireworks season πŸŽ†

The playlist is available on the Rayo app or you can tell your smart speaker to 'Ask Rayo to play Calming Pet Sounds'.

And don’t forget our tips πŸ‘‡
β€’ Plan for a cosy night-in – close the curtains, put on the radio, create a safe space for your dog and prepare with toys and treats.
β€’ Walk your dog before it gets dark and never force your dog outside during fireworks.
β€’ If your dog wants to hide, let them. But if your dog seeks reassurance, calmly give them attention and comfort. Research shows that ignoring them won’t help.
β€’ Give your dog any prescribed medication before fireworks start.
β€’ Check your house and garden are escape-proof. Your dog could try to run away if they’re scared so check your doors, windows and fences are secure.

Judges report
Exterior 🧱
Wall, bricks, pallets and doors. Both odours at a good dog height. All teams found them all, great to seethe handling and longline work
Odour on flat bricks
Nearby odour on stand bricks

Vehicles πŸš—
Moved these inside to stay as dry as possible! Air flow working around each vehicle, handlers working around the lawnmower and forklift very well. Looking high and low
Lefthand side of forklift - on wheel
Righthand side of lawnmower- on plastic

Interior 🌱
Glasshouse - in a L shape a long way up and down - dogs got dragged to the scent. The other odour was in a coat pocket just after the cones

Selection πŸ“¦
Odour on the 5th box out of 8
Inside the Treatment Room to stay dry. Hard to slow the dogs down I know, keeping those leads loose is important. Well done everyone.

Thank you to Zoe Heritage for being an amazing TO and thank you everyone for coming 🐾

A huge congratulations to everyone that entered today's trial. A good test of skills and confidence 🐾

Judges report
Interior
Glass greenhouse- 2 corridors and a selection. 1st odour on the first left hand side of corridor. 2nd odour at the very end of the 2nd corridor. A test tosee if handlers tasked their dogs to the very end. Most teams found the first odour but many forgot about the end and just turned round to come back. Most handlers worked their dogs on lead.

Exterior
So many items on the arena! 1st odour in the middle close to the ground, great sourcing by all the dogs! The 2nd odour on one of the little orange chairs to the right of the search area.
Nearly all teams found both and great handling by all. Great to watch. Mixture of on lead and off lear

Vehicle 2 cars
On odours on the car wheal centres. Was test due to the wind and spread of the odours. Teams mostly worked on lead and allowed the dogs to go to source.

Selection test.
Everyone did very well in this element! The odour was on the 2nd box in put of 8. Great indications and line handling! You should all be proud x

Thank you everyone for entering and we hope to welcome you back to Dogwise soon.

Thank you to Zoe for being a fantastic TO and to the wonderful Teggi for white do***ng the areas 🏳🏳🏳🏳🏳
