Is your dog looking a bit stiff or struggling with everyday tasks like climbing the stairs or reluctant to jump in, or out of, the car? Are you seeing 'twitchy skin' when you touch or groom your dog? Do you have a sport dog you'd like to keep in the best possible condition or is there a performance issue such as lack of enthusiasm, turning wider in one direction, knocking poles or missing weave en
tries? Been diagnosed with an orthopedic issue, like elbow/hip dysplasia, arthritis or slipping patella? Been diagnosed with a neurological condition like CDRM? Is your dog just not quite right and nobody can seem to point to why? Clinical Canine Massage can help! Clinical Canine Massage is a science based therapy which has undergone clinical trials by Wi******er University and published in Vet Record, which found significant reduction in pain severity after canine massage. I'm a member of the Canine Massage Guild and use 4 types of massage Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myofascial release and Sports massage and have trained extensively in canine anatomy and physiology. Clinical canine massage involves muscle tissue manipulation and fascial release techniques to rehabilitate injured soft tissues. Treatment helps to speed up and improve healing. We treat the whole body rather than just the area of disfunction, this helps address areas of overcompensation and restriction resulting in better movement patterns and long lasting results. We usually require 1-3 sessions to produce results that you can see and your dog can feel. People often worry their dog will be too wriggly or anxious for massage but we always adapt treatment to work with the dog and still produce measurable results, contact me to discuss if I can help. I offer treatments in my home in South Glos and home visits covering Bath, Bristol, Chippenham and South Glos and surrounding areas.

Sim had her first session and was an absolute dream, she’s a very busy girl although brilliant with people so we were super surprised to see her quite so calm on her first session!
It did show the importance of seeing a therapist with a young dog as there were a few areas to work through which would likely become chronic and impact movement over time.
Feeling super behind with updates this summer. Blaming the naughtiness puppy that ever lived!
Saw this gorgeous golden boy for lameness after a ball incident, I really could have kept him ❤️
Feel we have the same expression 🤣
Muscles pull on bones to create movement, and when arthritis is present, the joint has to recruit extra support of muscles which leads to your dog offloading, overcompensating on other limbs, primary as well as secondary areas of muscular and myofascial pain, and habitual patterns of tension throughout the whole body
So it's not just the joint thats affected.
It's your dog's whole body.
We can help.

Today I wore my new Muckboots to walk the dogs. You might be thinking ‘who cares’, but hear me out!
I’ve been slipping and sliding around in my old Muckboots, the weather has changed, it’s rained here and all our walks are so muddy and slippery at the moment. This has resulted in my hips hurting. I know that what I’ve been doing is tensing up when I walk on muddy ground, I’m protecting myself from potential slips by holding myself differently, my glutes are in a constant state of hypertonicity and this impacts my hip flexors, resulting in my sore hips.
So why am I telling you this?
It made me think about those dogs who live their lives on slippery floors. Dogs are digitgrade animals, this means essentially that they walk on fingertips and toes rather than our flat feet, they are able to grab the ground as they walk allowing for speed and stability, have a look at slow-motion videos of greyhounds running, you can see them digging in and almost grabbing the ground as they run. I’m sure you will have noticed how well they manage on slippery ground, digging in with their claws.
Now imagine what would happen if you stepped onto a slippery surface whilst standing on your toes, you would be unable to grip, your toes would tense up, followed by your calves, then your hips, do you see where I’m going with this? My hips feel much better today after one walk with my new boots (they’re the ones on the top), I wasn’t slipping around and now my muscles are able to relax and their resting tone is soft, this means I’m far less likely to suffer from muscular injury as my muscles are not held in a permanent state of tension.
Dogs who live on slippery flooring suffer from far more muscular injuries than dogs who don’t. You can remedy this by putting down non-slip mats on hard floors, especially in areas where your dog is more likely to slip such as by the front and back door and by the sofa or bed. Or consider carpet if you’re redecorating. Your dog will thank you!
💕

Jack and his owner enjoy going for long walks but unfortunately Jack had been stiff getting up and showing lameness for sometime which didn’t seem to be settling down. Jack went to the vet and they found discomfort in the lumber region of his back and prescribed anti inflammatories. Unfortunately Jack’s owner saw no improvement but the vet was keen to explore other treatment options. Jack had a significant back strain and a trigger point in his coccygeal and his surrounding muscles had become very tight to try to protect him. Jack’s owner noticed significant change after just a few treatments. I thought you’d like to see the before and after video. Jack’s symptoms are quite noticeable but some signs of discomfort will be very subtle. Look out for 🐕 panting when not exercising 🐕 twitchy skin 🐕 hair flicks 🐕 restlessness 🐕 grumpy or more nervous 🐕 missing weave entry’s or taking poles 🐕 looking a bit hunched in the back 🐕 not playing as much as used to 🐕 difficulty getting on the sofa or into/ out of the car
