Say hello to our wonderful Birchwood team, Kim and Sue! 💛👋🏼🐈

Kim was the first cat-sitter to join Wendy in 2019 and has been part of the team ever since. Hailing originally from Florida, she has lived in sunny Birchwood since 2005. ☀️ She adopted 2 kittens the day she bought her first house in Warrington and has been adding to her kitty brood ever since, now sharing her home with 6 rescue cats along with her husband and son. Kim worked as a Cat Care Assistant at the Warrington Cats Protection shelter and is highly experienced in all temperaments. She can administer medicine and brings with her a vast knowledge of feline issues. 😸

Sue joined the My Three Cats team in 2022 and lives in Fearnhead with her rescue cats Bob and Mabel. She has previously worked at Manchester Airport ✈️ where she checked cats and dogs arriving on the Pet Passport scheme had the correct entry requirements, and has also worked as a dog-walker 🦮 and pet-sitter in Altrincham where she previously lived. She has an abundance of excellent reviews from past and present customers and brings with her great knowledge and experience of cats of all temperaments.

An update on Coco 🐈‍⬛💜

We collected Coco from Burford Lane Vets - Lymm where she'd had two teeth taken out (we thought it was one but there were two rotting and producing puss, so it was best to get them both out!). 🦷

Coco recovered very well and we were told she was immediately wanting cuddles once she awoke - that's our Coco 🥰 We brought her home and gave her a small amount of food, although she definitely wanted more!

She was a little delirious at first but it wasn't long until she was back on our laps and rolling around for tummy tickles 💖

"I have been using My Three Cats for a number of years now and I couldn't speak highly enough of Wendy and her team! If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be able to go on holiday.

I would never put my cats in a cattery and I find the service that My Three Cats provide an excellent other option to a cattery and my cats are all very happy staying at home in their wonderful, caring hands. I love the regular updates and photos I receive daily whilst away. I feel happier on holiday knowing that I have left my much loved pets in very safe loving and hands. They are happy and extremely well cared for 😊

"Good morning (Dexter's mummy), I hope you had a lovely evening. The big guy is fine this morning, he sat on my knee for a while, I think he thought if he showed me some affection he would be released. I told him ‘I’m on to you matey’ so he left.

I'm not sure what happened with this rascal last night, I think he must have been break dancing in his litter tray, it was everywhere. All tidied up and I'll see him later.

Before each new set of cat-sitting visits we contact every owner a checklist of things to do before they leave.

🔑 Keys: The most secure option for all is a hidden lockbox on your premises which minimizes the risk of key loss. If not possible, please provide a key to your cat-sitter or arrange key details with them.
🍽️ Food: Please ensure food details are correct in your online account and leave enough food for the duration of your trip.
💊 Medication: Ensure medication instructions are current, stating the cat's name, medication name, frequency, and amount.
🚽 Litter Trays: Leave out litter scoops, bags, and cleaning supplies with extra litter for a fresh kitty toilet.
💰 Payment: Please pay in full before the first visit. Invoices can be paid securely online or by bank transfer.
🚨 Emergencies - Home: Leave local contact details for household problems. Ideally, someone with a spare key.
🚑 Emergencies - Pets: Please leave a contact number so we can call you if your cat becomes unwell. If urgent, we'll take them to your vet or the nearest out-of-hours vet. Ensure vet details are up to date.

All our clients use a secure app called Time To Pet which allows them to update their kitty's details in real time. We also use the app to send a Visit Report with photos after every visit.

Just an update on our gorgeous Coco 🖤She’s currently in with the brilliant Rachel at Burford Lane Vets for a full dental and a tooth extraction. One of her teeth has become infected which must have been causing her a lot of pain 🤕

Did you know that cats often mask pain and don’t show many outward signs that they are suffering? This is a survival instinct - in the wild a cat in pain is seen as weak and a target for predators 🐊

I feel really guilty now that she’s been struggling and I’ve not realised 😩Poor Coco 🖤Just waiting now for a call to say she’s ok and hopefully then she’ll be home and pain free 👍

Last week we took our old lady, Coco, for a check up at Burford Lane Vets - Lymm with the lovely Rachel 🐈‍⬛🩺🏥

Coco is nearly 18 now and we've noticed she's become quite stiff in her back legs so we wanted to get her a check up. Coco is the most laid back cat you'll meet and she was so good in her cat basket.

Burford Lane Vets are a cat-friendly clinic with a cat waiting area. They provide blankets you can use to cover your cat basket with in case you have an anxious cat. It was very quiet during our visit so we didn't have to use it this time - our little Billie would definitely appreciate it though 🥰

Rachel assessed Coco and encouraged us to get Coco's bloods tested so we can check she is okay to take Metacam, an anti-inflammatory to treat pain and inflammation in rheumatic diseases and osteoarthritis. These tests came back showing some inflammation but otherwise she's got the green light for Metacam! 😄

Rachel also made us aware of how bad Coco's teeth had gotten 🦷 Her teeth are likely the source of the inflammation shown on the blood test. They are probably causing her pain when she's eating - we would have never guessed, Coco has never had any trouble when it comes to eating! 😂🍽

We'll be heading back to Burford Lane to get Coco her Metacam, as well as getting some of her teeth taken out. Follow our page to keep updated with how we get on! 💖

Some of you may remember this lovely little family of kittens that were rescued from St Wilfred’s graveyard recently along with their brave mummy who had been bringing them up all by herself in the bushes there. Thanks to the efforts of a number of volunteers we managed to capture all of them - mummy and 4 babies and they are now safe and being cared for by Fur The Love Of in Mobberley.

As they are a new and very small charity they have very little in the way of funding and rely heavily on public donations. The cost to spay mum, and for vaccinations, chipping, flea & worm treatments and other blood tests and vet fees have come to over £700 already. We’d love it if you could spare a small amount to help this wonderful charity to get our little family treated and hopefully on to loving homes 🖤

At My Three Cats, we want to make your cats feel safe and comfortable in their own homes while you are away. While we aim to provide the best cat-sitting experience, there are a few things we don't offer:

🏠 Boarding - Unlike dogs, cats are solitary creatures. Most of them would feel very anxious and stressed if they had to live in a different house, even temporarily. Plus all our Cat-Sitters have cats of their own which would add more trauma to all involved. We want them to feel happy and comfortable in their familiar home comforts, so we go to them!

🗓️ Every-Other-Day Visits - We sometimes get requests for every-other-day or even every 3-day visits with dry food in timers. While many cats are fine with this, we've seen some unexpected incidents. Water bowls knocked over, cats getting stuck in cupboards, burst pipes, alarms going off, cat-flap batteries running out are all things that aren't too much of a problem if we're returning in 12 hours. But if we don't go back for 3 days the cat could be in real trouble.

🌙 Overnight Visits - Unless a cat is unwell or very young, they don't usually need round-the-clock monitoring. In our experience one or two daily visits are sufficient so our Cat-Sitters don't do overnight visits. However, we do offer longer visits if your cat loves company or extra attention, and we can do these later in the evening if required.

After seven years of cat-sitting for over 300 clients, there's not much we don't know about caring for cats in their own homes. But occasionally something unexpected happens which teaches us a valuable lesson!

Here are some real-life examples of 'Unexpected Incidents' that our cat-sitters have dealt with:

🔑 Keys Left in the Door - On more than one occasion our cat-sitter has arrived at their clients' home only to discover that a key had been left on the inside of the lock and they couldn't get in - the most memorable being at 4pm on Christmas Eve with the client 200 miles away🤦‍♀️A heartfelt thank you to the local Facebook community for quickly finding us a friendly locksmith who saved us from having to break a window. Lesson learned: Always remind owners to check their locks before going away!

🚪 Locked Out - Another key-related disaster. Self-locking doors can be a recipe for disaster, especially when you go out to empty the rubbish without taking the key with you. Leaving the cat-sitter (me!) stranded outside, with cat, keys, and phone all locked inside! Thankfully, I had a second sitter with a phone, and a call to the owner revealed the location of a spare key, and bacon was saved! Lesson learned: ALWAYS take your keys with you, or hope you can climb over the gate to access the open back door!

💦 Household Emergencies - This time it was a flood. Upon arrival, I was greeted by HOT water FLOODING through the kitchen ceiling. The entire house was like a sauna, wallpaper was peeling off and windows were dripping with water. I found the poor cat sitting on the stairs, looking a bit overheated! These type of emergencies can't always be avoided, but making sure you have your client's contact number handy is certainly helpful!

🤒 Illness - Occasionally, a cat in our care can fall ill quite quickly, and we know the signs to spot. Robin, Kevin and Sebastian have all been stricken down with serious urinary infections while we were caring for them, and I once arrived to find Woody had had a seizure 😪. We are trained in emergency first aid and we will take them to their own vet and administer medication if needed. While it's distressing for owners, we do everything we can to reassure them and we provide emergency care until they can return.

💔 Loss - Thankfully, an extremely rare occurrence, but this year we tragically faced two losses while owners were away and their cats were in our care 😪. It was an incredibly traumatic time for all involved, but as we grow we know we must be prepared to face these occasional tragedies and to handle them with the utmost compassion and professionalism.

🔒Help! I'm stuck! - Cats can find their way into all sorts of places and sometimes find they can't get back out! Bosco managed to lock himself into a pantry, Fluffy's catflap batteries ran out and he couldn't get in the house and Kyma found himself stuck inside a bathroom after he sneaked in when the cleaner wasn't looking! It is partly for these reasons that we do not offer an 'Every-Other-Day' service!

🐭Presents - And finally, some cats clearly love us dearly as we are regularly presented with their 'gifts'! Attie brings Sophy a vole treat each time she visits, Eloise has been presented with a huge dead rat from Monty & Milo. And who can forget the 'live blackbird in the kitchen' incident from Jeff & his furry siblings!

Through all these incidents we've gained experience and have learned to 'expect the unexpected'! We believe that this makes us more professional and gives us a better appreciation for the trust our clients place in us.

Wendy and Eloise aren't the only mother/daughter duo at My Three Cats anymore, we now have Fiona and Sophie! 💖🌸

Fiona and Sophie both live in and cover the Sankey area and are sister/mum to another ex-cat sitter Elie who has sadly now moved out of the area.

Between them they own a number of cats with amazing names such as Peggy Shu, Kat Moss, Pussington P Pursworthy, Rupert & Mrs Mow 🤩 As well as Fiona's little rescue dog Winnie!

Sophie in particular has been bonding with our Maine C**n customers, including Grace - one of our most nervous clients who is a beautiful, white girl and completely deaf. Sophie communicates with her through sign language and by vibrations on the walls and this has enabled them to forge a special friendship.

"Morning (Minnie & Coco's mummy) 🤗. Both Minnie & Coco were waiting for me on the stairs as I arrived and both gave me a warm welcome with lots of sniffing , leg rubs and general loveliness 🥰 .

They’ve been thirsty, so I’ve replenished their water bowls and added an extra one. They’ve also eaten well - all gone! So that’s all replenished too. Coco had a couple of treats to entertain her whilst I busied around the utility area. Litter tray has been fully changed.

Minnie was purring a lot (lush!) and Coco was right next to me the whole time (double lush!). Apart from when she was “ekk-ekk-ekk” ing at the birds outside 😂

💁🏼‍♀️Hi, I’m Wendy. I have lived with cats since birth and there has always been one or more in my family. One of my earliest memories was my mum taking in a tiny, black kitten that our vet neighbour had found in a ditch one stormy night🐈‍⬛

😺When I was 13, I volunteered for the Cats Protection in Warrington where I cleaned out pens and helped to feed abandoned kittens. My love of cats grew, especially for those big, scraggy Tomcats that came in with raggedy ears and no-one wanted.

🐱I began cat-sitting in 2016 alongside my full-time job in finance. It was never my intention to have anything more than a ‘side hustle’ but it soon became clear that my cat-sitting service was becoming popular.

📆By 2019 I was at full capacity and still the bookings were coming in. Now in danger of exhausting myself working two jobs I took on two more cat-sitters who helped me to expand my service.

🦠2020 began with lots of plans and excitement about the future of My Three Cats. But the Covid pandemic brought an end to them and all our bookings were cancelled as travel plans were scrapped.

😩I still had my full-time job and worked from home. Financially I was ok but mentally I suffered with loneliness and isolation. My three cats (the cats themselves not the business!) helped me enormously. Ronnie, Billie and Coco were always there when I was struggling.

✈️With the travel ban lifted My Three Cats went into overdrive! I took on more cat-sitters and still we struggled to cope with demand.

🙈But I took on too much work and burnt out. By September 2021 I’d hit a wall and couldn’t cope. I took a much-needed holiday and reassessed my life. Something had to give.

🚗So, in March 2022 I left my job and began cat-sitting full time. Three more cat-sitters took our team to 10 and the bookings flooded in.

📈Over 2 years later and client numbers have increased to over 300, and our team is still growing (there's 15 of us now!). I’m still exhausted most of the time, but I’m slowly learning to delegate! My daughter Eloise joined us as Cat-sitter/Social Media manager and now has a following of her own on both social media and in real life!

🤩My Three Cats has an exceptional 5 Star record and all the feedback we receive tells us that the cats we care for are much happier staying at home when their owners are away. Owners return to find their cats calm, relaxed and happy (They often wonder if they’ve even missed them!)

Introducing our new cat-sitters! Our team has now grown to 15 and we are so pleased to have Sarah H, Naomi, Sarah B and Shiromi! 😄

Sarah H is a 'customer-turned-cat-sitter' who contacted us after we'd been looking after her crazy cats Ronald & Noodle for a number of years. Sarah helps to cover our busy Westbrook & Callands areas along with some Town Centre visits, and can always be found chatting and singing to her cats. She adores each and every one of them and can vouch for our wonderful service from both sides 🥰

Naomi is one of our newest members and got in contact with us after she saw our Facebook post! She has a ginger rescue boy of her own called James and had previous experience volunteering at a cat rescue centre. Naomi is very patient and gentle in her approach to all cats in her care and has always had cats in her family. Naomi has her own coaching and development business so having some cat-sitting jobs on the side has been perfect for her! Naomi helps in our busiest area, Lymm, as well as helping out with visits in Thelwall 🐈

Sarah B already had experience as a cat-sitter as she often looks after he neighbours cats. She already had a similar routine to our cat-sitting service so it's all been a piece of cake for her! Sarah has a chocolate British Shorthair called Bruce and she volunteers as a socialiser at Cats Protection Warrington. On top of that, Sarah also has her own mobile cat grooming business (Moggsy Malone!). Sarah has been a huge help covering the Moore and Daresbury areas and has developed lovely relationships with all the cats in her care 🌟

Shiromi is another 'customer-turned-cat-sitter' who got in touch with us when looking for a change in her career. Shiromi wanted to do something she would love and could put her heart and soul into. We used to look after her cats Tinker & Andy but after they unfortunately passed away, she has two new babies: Bonnie & Clyde! Shiromi helps to cover Central Warrington and Padgate areas and she loves each cat in her care like they're her own 💖
