Before we start each new round of visits, we send every owner a checklist to make sure everything’s set for their kitties. Here’s what to keep in mind:

🔑 Keys: The safest option is to use a hidden lockbox on your property to avoid key loss. If that’s not possible, please coordinate key details with your cat-sitter.
🍽️ Food: Double-check that the food details in your online account are correct and ensure there’s enough food to cover your time away.
💊 Medications: Keep medication instructions updated, including your cat's name, the medication name, dosage, and frequency.
🚽 Litter Trays: Leave out litter scoops, bags, cleaning supplies, and extra litter to keep your kitty’s bathroom fresh.
💰 Payments: Please settle payments in full before your first visit. We accept online or bank transfers.
🚨 Emergency Contacts - Home: Provide details for a local contact in case of household issues, ideally someone with a spare key.
🚑 Emergency Contacts - Pets: Make sure we have your phone number for emergencies. If needed, we’ll take your cat to your vet or the nearest emergency vet. Ensure all vet details are up to date.

All clients use the secure Time To Pet app to update their cat’s info in real-time. After each visit, we send a detailed Visit Report along with photos!

🐱 I began cat-sitting in 2016 alongside my full-time job in finance. It was never my intention to have anything more than a ‘side hustle’ but it soon became clear that my cat-sitting service was becoming popular.

📆 By 2019 I was at full capacity and still the bookings were coming in. I took on two more cat-sitters who helped me to expand my service.

🦠 2020 began with lots of plans and excitement about the future of My Three Cats. But the Covid pandemic brought an end to them and all our bookings were cancelled as travel plans were scrapped.

😩 I still had my full-time job and worked from home. Financially I was ok but mentally I suffered with loneliness and isolation. My three cats (the cats themselves not the business!) helped me enormously. Ronnie, Billie and Coco were always there when I was struggling.

✈️ With the travel ban lifted My Three Cats went into overdrive! I took on more cat-sitters and still we struggled to cope with demand.

🙈 By September 2021 I’d hit a wall and couldn’t cope. I took a much-needed holiday and reassessed my life. Something had to give.

🚗 So, in March 2022 myself and my daughter, Eloise, left our jobs and began cat-sitting full time. Three more cat-sitters took our team to 10 and the bookings flooded in.

📈 Nearly 3 years later and client numbers have increased to over 300, and our team is up to 15! I’m still exhausted most of the time, but I’m slowly learning to delegate! Eloise helps with admin, social media and more cat-sitting!

🤩 My Three Cats has an exceptional 5 Star record and all the feedback we receive tells us that the cats we care for are much happier staying at home when their owners are away. Owners return to find their cats calm, relaxed and happy (They often wonder if they’ve even missed them!).

"Hi (Spook's mummy), both Eloise and I have just been to visit Spook this afternoon and we’ve had a lovely time! We’ve been out in the garden and Eloise has been on Dreamies duty 😃 She’s also had a chase of the laser pen (Spook not Eloise! 😅) video attached!

A little group of squirrels and some pigeons had gathered to enjoy the nuts so I’ll make sure to put some more out for them.

Thyroid Issues in Cats: What to Watch Out For! 👀

If you're subscribed to our monthly newsletter, you might have seen the feature of Miss Mauw last month 😸 Miss Mauw is Sophie's grandad's beloved cat. She was named her "Miss Mauw" as she's an extremely vocal cat, always "talking"! As a former stray, she was very good at convincing everyone to feed her, and before long, she'd put on a fair amount of weight. But at the end of last year, she suddenly began losing weight very rapidly. A trip to the vet revealed she had a thyroid condition - her little heart was working overtime, and her thyroid levels were dangerously high.

Here are some signs of Thyroid Issues in cats:

🍽 Weight Loss Despite a Good Appetite: One of the first signs is weight loss, even if your cat seems to be eating just fine—or even more than usual.

💦 Increased Thirst and Urination: If you notice your cat drinking water more often or needing the litter box more frequently, it’s worth a closer look.

🤪 Restlessness or High Energy: An overactive thyroid often means an overactive kitty. Cats with thyroid issues may seem more restless, pacing, or just more active than usual.

🧥 Unkempt Coat: Cats with thyroid problems may have a scruffy or unkempt coat, as they’re not grooming as well.

📢 Increased Vocalisation: Some cats with thyroid issues become more vocal, meowing loudly and often—just one more way they’re trying to tell you something’s up.

Miss Mauw has now had her thyroid removed at Westbrook Vets. The surgery went well, and she's resting and recovering at home. She even had to wear a little red onesie for the first day! 🥰

"Good morning, I’m sat with Buffy 🥰 He's filled me in on all the gossip when I arrived. We had loads of lovely hugs and nose boops too! We’ve realised that if he stands on the top of his tower, we're basically the same height 😹😹.

He’s had a look at my hair, he said he might be able to squeeze me in before Christmas 😹😹. He’s understandably very busy at the moment 😹😹.

"Hi (Arlo & Astrid's mummy), I’ve made a breakthrough with Astrid tonight!! 😆😆 Astrid was in her usual routine of watching myself and Arlo from afar. I sat at the top of the stairs like normal, waiting for her to come out from under the bed. When she did finally come out, she came straight over to me and let me stroke her! She kept pushing into my hand and I even saw her roll around on the floor - I wasn’t quick enough to snap a photo 🙃 She’s such a lovely girl and I’m so happy she feels safe and comfortable for me to stroke her 🥰 Arlo watched proudly but then came over when he was clearly getting a little jealous 🤣

The two of them had eaten all of their breakfast and have already had most of their tea. Water is fresh and all curtains are shut. I’ve also put your black bin out 👍🏻 Back tomorrow morning x"

"Thank you for looking after our cat with such kindness and professionalism. We very much appreciated the fact that he was able to stay in his own surroundings whilst we were away. We were put completely at ease by Zoe and Wendy and knew that our cat would be in safe hands. From June 10th 2024, it became compulsory for all pet cats to be microchipped. This new rule means that cats must be microchipped before they reach the age of 20 weeks. All cat owners have until JULY 1ST to get their cats microchipped by their vet. We have adopted many cats from Warrington Cats Protection - we took home our beautiful Coco from there 14 years ago! 🤎 And who could forget our big boy Reggie. We had originally fostered Reggie from Warrington Animal Welfare at the start of 2021, and it wasn't long before our home became his. We unfortunately lost Reggie in January 2024 very suddenly and unexpectedly.
