PREPARE YOUR PETS FOR BONFIRE NIGHT Pet safety tips for 5th November 💥 𝐃𝐚𝐲𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬: Avoid times when fireworks are most likely to be set off 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐞: Provide a den or safe comfortable space for them to hide 𝐏𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐨 𝐨𝐧: Drown out the sound of the loud bangs with some music 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐦: Pets can sense your mood so try to stay calm 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞: Keep cat flaps and doors closed. No night walks 𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞: Stay close so pets feel safe with familiar faces If your pet suffers with increased anxiety around this time of year and no calming methods are helping, please speak to one of our Vets on 01925 977 622.

HEDGEHOG SAFETY 🦔 During Firework Season Hedgehogs are looking for somewhere to hibernate this time of year, so piles of branches, leaves and logs look very attractive to them. Please make sure to check your bonfire pile before lighting it, as sleeping hedgehogs could be nesting in your firewood. If you find a Hedgehog in your bonfire and they don't appear to be injured, pop on a pair of gloves and get a thick towel so you can move them somewhere safe. Preferably in a bush so they can escape from the area. If you have any Hedgehog related concerns, you can give us a call on 01925 977 622

WE HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS... (But we can't tell you yet, sorry!) 🤐 We can however tell you that we have TWO new vets joining our team in the autumn. That means we will be able to offer our services to even more pet owners in the area! So, we'll have to keep our big, exciting plans a secret for now, but we hope to share them with you very soon 😘

WEATHER WARNINGS ☀️ SIGNS OF HEATSTROKE & HOW TO ACT With the hot weather continuing throughout the week, we wanted to highlight the importance of keeping your pets cool in the summer months. SIGNS OF HEAT STROKE: Panting heavily | Dribbling | Wobbling | Bright red gums | Vomiting | Frothing at the mouth | Hot to touch HOW TO ACT: If your pet experiences any of these symptoms, it is important to contact our Vets IMMEDIATELY on 01925 977 622. In the meantime, you need to start cooling your pets SAFELY! NEVER USE COLD WATER OR ICE - This could cause shock. Put them on top of a wet towel to start cooling them. Pour room temp water on their paws and the outside of the ears, then slowly on the whole body and use a fan or air-conditioning to cool the air around them. Give them cool (not freezing cold) water to drink. Move your pet into a cool space that is out of direct sunlight. Transport your pet in an air-conditioned vehicle and continue cooling them on the journey to the practice.
