Rupert thought that after eating all those sweets yesterday, he had better share a handy tool for if your beloved dogs get into the chocolate selection boxes this Christmas! Please remember though that there is no toxic dose for raisins and grapes, so if any amount is consumed, it should be treated as an emergency!

This is the absolutely beautiful little Lilly who has been rescued and is being looked after by Little Legs Dogs Rescue. Lilly came in today for her 1st of 12 donated Laser therapy treatments to help manage her Ivdd. She was a little worried at first but soon settled and really seemed to enjoy it by the end!

StreetVet is a wonderful charity offering veterinary care to the companions of people who have unfortunately found themselves homeless.

Have you ever wondered how long it would take me to walk a marathon whilst stopping every mile to draw a pet portrait? No, me neither. But we’re going to find out!!

In 2021 I did the ‘24 hour drawathon’, in 2022 I did a ‘100 Portrait Challenge’, this year I’m doing ‘The Portrait Marathon’….

So, here’s the deal; on Sunday 14th May I’ll be leaving Worthing (where Turning Tides are based) and walking to Brighton (StreetVet’s nearest outreach post to me) and back again….a total of 26.2 miles. At the start of the walk, and every subsequent mile, I’ll stop to draw a pet portrait…..27 of them.

What’s more, your pet could be one of the 27 lucky animals drawn and all you need to do to enter is make a donation of any amount to either Turning Tides or StreetVet. Once you’ve made your donation, please send proof (screen shot or donation ref number) together with a photograph of your pet to the following email address:

[email protected]

You’ve got until midday (BST) on Friday 12th May to submit your entry and we will then be randomly picking 27 pictures to be drawn (I REALLY hope we’ll have at least 27 entries!).

What’s EVEN more, the order in which the portraits are drawn on the day will be chosen at random and the people who are the first and last portraits to be drawn will get their original portrait along with some other goodies!! All other pics will just be uploaded onto the socials as per usual.

Yes, the entries are open to everyone, wherever you are in the world and yes, you can enter more than once. But only one photograph per donation will be considered, so multiple entries need multiple donations!

More details about the day will be announced over the next couple of weeks, but in the meantime here's a very professional poster that I designed which highlights all the important stuff.

The links to donate can be found in the comments section and please don’t forget to email us once you have done so if you want to enter your picture into the portrait draw!

There's now over 250,000 people on my social media pages, IMAGINE if half donated £2 to sponsor me on this latest challenge....

Much love

Hercule

💚

🌨❄️☃️ Brrrrrrr! Gosh it's cold out there this morning! We have a few tips to make your dog walks a little more enjoyable for you gorgeous pooches!

🐕 For very young and very old dogs, as well as dogs with thin fur, we recommend getting a well fitted, waterproof coat to keep them cosy.

🐕If you have been walking on roads or pavements that have been gritted, always wash your dogs paws and dry them well when they get home. Grit and salt can cause damage to your dogs paws, and if ingested, could potentially cause salt poisoning.

🐕Investing in a reflective and light up collar/harness can make your dog much more visible to car drivers. They also make it much easier for you to spot your dog should they be off a lead!

🐕Ensure your dogs microchip details are up to date, so should they get lost, you have a better chance of being reunited.

‼️Anti Freeze Poisoning ‼️
With temperatures set to drop, we want to make people aware of the risk of Anti Freeze poisoning. Ethylene glycol, or Anti freeze is a highly toxic substance used frequently in:

❄️Car engines
❄️Water features
❄️Radiators

🐈 Antifreeze tastes sweet and is extremely toxic, even in small quantities. Cats may drink from treated water, lap at spillages or clean their fur and paws after they have been in contact with it.

🐈‍⬛ Treatment must be given immediately, and no later than 3 hours after ingestion. If you have any suspicion of Ethylene Glycol ingestion, please contact a vet immediately.

🐱Symptoms of Antifreeze poisoning include:

▪️Vomiting
▪️Lethargy/depression
▪️Ataxia (wobbly, abnormal gait)
▪️Increased thirst and urination
▪️Increased heart and breathing rate

You can reduce the risk of ethylene glycol poisoning in cats (and wildlife!) by refraining from using Antifreeze in garden fountains and ensuring that any spillages are cleaned immediately.

We have seen some great results with Laser therapy recently! We can use it for all sorts of illnesses and conditions, including osteoarthritis, back pain and inflammatory conditions such as IBD and Pancreatitis. Check out our website to find out more about Laser Therapy!

Laser Therapy or Photobiomodulation Therapy, is an innovative, non-invasive way of reducing pain and inflammation and encouraging natural healing.  We recommend its use post surgery, for chronic pain, inflammatory conditions and in the control of dermatological conditions
