Hi everyone, I'm sure that most of you are aware but just incase you're not... the new rules have come into place about registering any kind of poultry that are kept as pets & live outside.

I know quite a few of you are worried about doing this & there's a lot of scaremongering & conspiracy theories going round on facebook & other Internet sites... please don't be worried... registering your birds is not a way of the government keeping tabs on who is providing their own sorce of food & it certainly doesn't mean that the government are going to turn up on your doorstep & either take your birds away or cull them.

The reason for joining the register is purely so they know who keeps poultry & can quickly inform anyone who lives within a certain area of a confirmed bird flu outbreak. Sadly bird flu is very real & is only going to get worse if they don't do something to moniter it more closely. I have personally been on the register for 20yrs & the only time I hear from them is when they send me a text message informing me of a confirmed outbreak. If you are within a certain parameter of a bird flu case then they will contact you about visiting your premises & it is usually a vet who will arrrive to check that your birds are ok & will offer you lots of advice about keeping them safe. They will not take your pets away unless they are sick...

The announcement we've all been waiting for has been released this afternoon.... Tuesday 18th April is official freedom day for our girls 🥳🥳🥳

Cleanliness is the key to keep any infection at bay so good biosecurity is a must but stick it in your diaries & get ready to count down the days 💖🐔🐔🐔

Mandatory housing measures will be lifted from 00:01 on Tuesday 18th April but scrupulous standards of biosecurity remain essential.

Just a quick update everyone.. a highly pathogenic case of bird flu has just been announced in Helsby. This is the closest one to Hens Haven & I know it will be even closer to some of you. Just a quick reminder to you all to please stick to the Goverment guidelines & keep your birds safe... remember that your birds can still enjoy going out in a run area as long as it is totally covered & doesn't allow other birds to get in

As some of you are probably aware, the new government rules on allowing chickens & other poultry to free range are coming into place on Monday... this means that the dreaded 'flockdown' is back again & our girls are all going to have stay inside or in a run area that is covered so wild birds can't come into contact with them. It's the law unfortunately & something we all have to do to protect our birds from bird flu.

Well here's the news we've all been waiting for... defra have just announced that as from midnight on 31st March... our babies can be free again 🥳💖 of course everyone still needs to keep an eye on their birds but the lockdown will be over & chickens can be free to roam in the garden again 🐔🥰

Ok everyone... a new law has been brought out that will take affect on 14th December. It is going to be law that for the next few months all chickens are going to have to be kept indoors or in an enclosure that other birds can't get into. This is because bird flu is getting worse in the country so to protect your girls we all need to follow the new rules. Any help or advice I can help with give me a shout.

As if covid isn't enough to worry about we now have to be extra cautious about our birds everyone... it's migration season & unfortunately birds coming into the country are bringing a highly pathogenic case of bird flu with them. Please read & be extra vigilant. Any advice i can help with please send me a message & you know I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

People are always asking me about set ups for their chickens & this is a fantastic coop & run... I'm currently chicken sitting for this customer & her set up is really impressive. It's made by 'Omlet' but I'm sure there's ideas that we can all pinch & use 😀 some extra pics of tasty treats the girls have been enjoying too
