The final charity we need to let you know about and that we have chosen to donate to is The Gap - Registered charity no. 1086640 Warwick, which has been our training venue for many years. The Gap is a community development project supporting the community of Warwick through a wide range of social facilities and support for all ages. They do so much, and we thank them for their support over the years allowing us to use their venue for training classes, seminars, workshops and more.

The third charity we have donated to is Medical Detection Dogs (registered charity: 1124533). They are at the forefront of research into the fight against cancer and other life-threatening diseases, including Parkinson’s disease and bacterial infections. Their Bio Detection Dogs are trained to find the odour of those diseases in samples such as urine, breath and sweat. The charity relies on the generosity of their supporters, charitable trusts and foundations and members of the public to fund their life-saving work.

We have donated to four charities in total and the second of those charities is Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) (registered charity: 244108) RDA, whose National office is based here in Warwickshire RDA National Training Centre, is the only major UK charity whose focus is squarely on the therapeutic and health benefits of bringing people and horses together – they really do make a huge difference to the lives of disabled children and adults. Their activities are recommended by Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, and the majority of their participants are referred to RDA by a medical professional. https://rda.org.uk/
As part of our Club closure, we are donating remaining funds to charities selected by our Club committee. One of those charities is Therapy Dogs Nationwide (registered charity: 1167622). We have always supported this charity and a few of our members, committee and their dogs have volunteered for them. We also held a talk for members where charity representatives came to explain more about the charity and how to volunteer.
Therapy Dogs Nationwide is a national charity where visiting volunteers take their own dogs into establishments to provide comfort, distraction, and stimulation. Establishments include schools, care homes, hospitals and many more. They are also part of the Kennel Club Bark and Read programme. Check out their website to see more about the amazing work they do.

Friends, followers & supporters. You may already be aware that Warwick Dog Training Club has no longer been running group training classes since January 2024. Unfortunately, the committee has had to make the difficult decision to put the wheels in motion to close the Club. Most of our trainers and committee have been with the Club for many years, so this has been a very sad and difficult decision to make. As per the Clubs constitution, any remaining funds in the Club account will be distributed to charity. The charities that have been chosen by the committee will be shared in due course. Doglaw specialist Solicitor Trevor Cooper is going back on the road in 2024 with an extensive tour of his c.3hr talk on "Doglaw: What every dog owner needs to know". The map below shows how far and wide Trevor is travelling and they are being held at a range of venues throughout England & Wales at weekends. These talks aren't recorded so you would need to come and watch it live and in person!
The seminars are aimed at being informative as well as entertaining so be prepared to have a giggle. No prior legal knowledge is required. Even if you've been before, come along to see what changes there have been and to refresh your knowledge. A Certificate of Attendance can be supplied on request as a pdf. All our weekday evening indoor group classes are now fully booked until 2022. We are not holding waiting lists and any updates on availability will be posted on our social media pages., website and monthly email newsletters.
