FTW Timothy Plum At Hartleyjean (Timmy) had a litter of ten last week and
FTW Emmanygan Damson of Wedgnock (Tully) had his first girlfriend confirmed pregnant this week.

I was just having a look at my training website and thought I’d share some of my home page, where I sum up my life with my dogs so far.
My love for Goldens started in 1999 with the most wonderful dog, Castlemans Classic Fin. He got me started competing in Working Tests and was extremely successful, gaining numerous awards. I then got the bug for Field Trials. Fin did really well, achieving open status, but it was when I got his nephew, Castlemans For Your Eyes Only (Archie), that I started to become quite successful. Archie won a novice trial at 18 months old, his first Open 2 day trial, he was 3rd. He got awards in open every year until his retirement around 7 years old. Fin lived to a good age of 15, Archie I lost at 13 years old.

My third Golden I had alongside Fin and Archie. Birdsgreen Baggins was pretty special. He won a novice trial at 17 months old, then his first 2 day AV open trial, he was 2nd. He also had numerous awards in open, but unfortunately never won. I lost him at 10 years old. My fourth Golden was Castlemans Mkussi (Rowan). He was a slow learner but once his education fell into place, he was fabulous. He won a novice trial at 18 months old, he won a 2 day AV open at 3 years old, then a week later a 2 day Breed Open which made him up to a Field Trial Champion. He was in the winning GB team at Ragley Hall game fair, and the winning team at the prestigious charity test at Windsor. (Rowan is still pottering about at nearly 14 years old ❤️)

My fourth Golden is one of the most special and talented Goldens I've ever seen. Frizelwood Odan of Hartleyjean (Odie) He won a novice trial at 2 years old, the next season he won a Breed 2 day open, then shortly after a 1 day AV open to make him up to a Field Trial Champion, he had just turned 3 years old. He has continued to get awards in open since. He has also been on the winning team at the Windsor test. (Odie has been retired for some time now, and at 11 years old is a little blind unfortunately)

My fifth golden is Gatekeeper Boycie Del Hartleyjean (Del) DOB 10/01/16
Del started his trialling career in 1917, and won his first trial on 07/09/2017, the GRC All Aged Trial. He has gone on to gain further awards in All Aged trials with a second at UGS at Ampton on 14/09/2018 and a COM at Dukeries on 25/09/2019. We then lost a season to Covid in 2020 and he had some lameness in 2021 due to a migrating grass seed. He will still only be six years old in 2022, so hopefully will continue then.
Del has produced some super field trial winning puppies. (Unfortunately I lost Del in 2023 at just 7 years old)

My sixth dog is Tullysege Chase The Gold With Hartleyjean (Chase) DOB 30/06/2017
Chase won a novice trial in style, picking a very strong runner in maize at Ampton, on 9/09/2019 at Guildford AV novice trial. We then had a season lost to Covid in 2020, but in 2021 he got a COM in the GRC two day open.

My seventh dog has a special place in my heart, he is Dels son Timmy.
Timothy Plum at Hartleyjean DOB 26/02/2019.
Timmy is a beautiful dog, who is showing a lot of potential. He missed what would have been his first season in 2020 due to Covid, but in 2021 he got his first award, a COM, (and gained his stud book number) at the GRCS one day open trial at Drummond Park on 6/12/2021. He then went on to win the NGRA novice trial on 14/12/2021. Timmy had AA awards in 2022, in 2023 he qualified to run in the England team selections, he was in the winning team at the Golden Retriever Interclub event, he got a 3rd in GRC two day open trial at Windsor.
A really beautiful dog, siring stunning puppies.

In 2021 I got my first Labrador.

In 2023 he got guns choice at UGBA novice trial, his first trial. He then was 2nd in his second trial MCFTS novice, he then won his third trial, LINCS novice.
I’m looking forward to running him and Timmy next year.

I had an emotional but proud day today.
Dels daughter, Hanwoodgold Breeze owned by Lesley Crompton won the NGRA two day open trial.

I was so proud I found myself shedding a few tears.

FTW Timothy Plum at Hartleyjean was 3rd at GRC open two day trial at Windsor on 2nd and 3rd October.
The judges said it was very close. Timmy was clean and did everything I asked, but didn’t have any retrieves to shine.

One of the best two days trialling that I’ve ever had. It’s an enormous privilege to be at Windsor, the guns shot superbly, the dog work was great, as was the atmosphere.

Huge thanks to keeper Peter Clayton and his team at Windsor, to the guns, and judges who gave their day to watch our breed.
Thanks also to GRC

Good luck to Keith Bedford at the championship.

One of Timmys puppies with her mum.
He’s only had two litters, which really surprises me.
He’s a stunning dog, with a super temperament.
A Field Trial Winner with open field trial award, so he’s proven his capabilities.
He produces big strong puppies with bone like him.

Can I please reiterate that Del died from an autoimmune disease that’s likely to have been triggered by an underlying condition, probably cancer.
It is NOT hereditary.
Can those of you with his progeny please not message me about how he died, I’m still trying to deal with it and it’s very upsetting to get these messages.
I’m sorry if your own dog is unwell, but as I said, it’s not hereditary.
I’m not blaming his Dam or Sire for losing him, so please try to do the same.

Gatekeeper Boycie Del Hartleyjean (Del)
10/01/16-14/5/23

Five weeks ago Del started to come down with the most awful autoimmune disease.
He fought it well and managed to keep fairly bright despite getting worse by the day.
However, over the last week he was losing the energy to fight it as it started to get the better of him.
He gave up his fight yesterday.

We are heartbroken to lose such a beautiful, talented young dog who was one of my best friends and completely devoted to me.

I’m so lucky to have his son, Timmy, and to still see many of his progeny and grandchildren.

RIP my darling ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I’m very proud of Timmy to have qualified to run at the England team selection test on Sunday. One of only two Goldens there.
He did well and completed all the tests, which were quite tricky.
He didn’t get on the team, but it was a big achievement to be there.

Well done to my darling Timmy for his third at URC Midlands open test. He did everything that was asked of him, he had one tricky retrieve where a dummy had rolled downhill in a wood, which lost him marks.
A superb test where the winner, Godfrey Lowe, and second place, Jayne Coley qualified to go to the England team selection. Well done to them

Timmy’s season is now over and I’m really pleased with him in his first open trial season.
We didn’t get the two day win that I would obviously like, however he got through to the second day of most two days and was one or two retrieves away from finishing some. At not four years old yet.

He did get a 2nd in ECGRC all aged at Ampton and
COM at Leics AA at Creeton. Both of these trials were on fairly challenging ground and he did well.

Timmy is producing stunning puppies.

A beautiful dog inside and out. Timmy has shown a wonderful temperament this year with the number of times he has been tightly crammed onto gun buses, with lots of other dogs and without so much as a curled lip.
