Looking to go away over summer?

We offer a friendly, reliable and professional cat care service for your cats in the familiar surroundings of their home. Many cats (and some owners) find the experience of cattery stressful and we aim to provide a real alternative.

Our Cat Care at Home service is ideal for all sorts of cats, from independent types that like to come and go as they please though a cat flap, to elderly cats that just want to sleep in their favourite spot and of course fuss and cuddles along the way.

Cat Care at Home visits include litter tray cleaning, feeding, changing water. We can even cater for cats on medication including diabetic cats as we are fully trained in administering tablets and injections.

We will provide you with photo and video updates and also keep a good eye on your home ensuring that you can enjoy your holiday in peace.

After a mysterious illness and three lifesaving blood transfusions, Cockapoo Honey is finally on the mend and rediscovering her love of life 🙏❤️

After collapsing out of the blue, Honey’s owners Nicole and Shannon took her straight to the vets where they were told she was severely anaemic and may not make it through the night. Fearing the worst and with Honey continuing to decline, the vets decided to give her a transfusion in the hope it would buy them time to run more tests.

Honey’s bloods came back clear, but they discovered her red blood cells were sticking together and her immune system was attacking them. The vets stated the illness was idiopathic, meaning there was no known cause. Honey continued to deteriorate over the next few days, which resulted in her receiving a second transfusion along with various medications and immunosuppressants 😢

Unfortunately, Honey continued deteriorating and Nicole and Shannon were advised to think deeply about their next steps. They came to the decision to try a third blood transfusion. After this, Honey stayed stable (with only a handful of bumps along the way) and started to slowly reduce her medication.

Fast forward a few months later and Honey is doing wonderfully. She is still very much in recovery, but she is still here and loving life 🥰

Nicole said, ‘I wanted to say a huge thank you to Pet Blood Bank and all the amazing dogs that donate blood. It is because of you that we have our Honey at home with us right now, and we are so grateful that she is still here and has been given the best chance at recovery. As well as the veterinary team that cared for Honey, Pet Blood Bank is the reason she is alive, and no words could express how grateful we are for that.’

Dogs can need blood at any time and for many different reasons. If your dog is fit and healthy, between 1 and 8 years old, weighs over 25kg, and is confident, they could become a blood donor and help to save the lives of dogs like Honey.

Top tip for donor owners – chemical implant ❌

If your dog has received a chemical fertility implant (chemical castration), there are set restrictions of time which excludes them from donating, depending on the strength of the implant 👇

👉 4.7mg – lasts for 6 months and your dog can donate as soon as it expires or is removed

👉 9.4mg – lasts 12 months and your dog can donate as soon as it expires or is removed

Please double check with your vet if you are unsure about which implant your dog has so you know when they will be able to come along and donate again 🩸😇

The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.
You will be sad, I understand;
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.
We've had so many happy years -
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come, so let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend
And please stay with me until the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Please do not grieve - it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years -
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.
