Another success story 🐴
🐴 CASE REPORT
Lillie’s owner first noticed there was a problem early last year, where Lillie was having trouble holding the right counter canter. Over lockdown she lost a lot of muscle and when bringing her back into work in the summer she still wasn’t right.
At this stage Lillie’s owner sought advice from our vet Ryan, who carried out a comprehensive investigation for a bilateral hindlimb lameness. Treatment was carried out alongside physio Jenny Hadland.
The rehab started end of July 2020, after injections combined with intense H wave physio sessions; and very carefully placed manual therapy and laser sessions used by her owner on a regular basis. Lillie is lucky as her owner is an equine and canine manual therapist so she got extra care! A very slow and careful exercise plan was put in place (ridden and longrein) and followed to the letter.
By September she had returned to canter work… Then poor Lillie slipped in the field and strained her proximal suspensory ligament. Luckily it wasn’t a tear, with some treatment again from Ryan and Jenny she slowly returned back to work.
“Yes it has taken time. But I think it has really been worth the patience and going slow. Lillie is a big horse, is young and is maturing slowly and it has taken slow progress with lots of ups and downs along the way. We are now jumping small fences and are on track for re-entering competitive BD life probably by June this year. We could well have gone a bit faster but I just didn’t see the point. I couldn’t have done it without the vet/physio and livery team all working together to support Lillie back to health. Teamwork is the key! Thankyou Ryan, Jenny and Zoe ###
