Good Afternoon.

Does your greyhound want its nails clipping in the New Year. Whilst we are not currently at kennels we can confirm our colleagues at Wolverhampton are available to do these for you

They are taking half-hour appointments for your greyhound to have their nails clipped and an optional run in their secure field at £5 per hound.

So as we move in to 2024 more good news as we learn that Buddy was homed today by our colleagues Greyhound Trust Wolverhampton

In addition to this Mercedes has been reserved and will be going to her new home on the 14th January.

Good luck Buddy and so glad you’ve managed to secure a home.

Massive thank you to colleagues at Wolverhampton who are really making us smile since our greyhounds went to their kennels from our Broadmarsh kennels.

Our volunteers including those no longer with us will be happy at this news.

We will continue to keep you all posted 💚🐾

We hope everyone had a great New Year and the greyhounds were not too disturbed with the fireworks.

Some posts are scheduled today to share the two greyhounds who were returned over the holidays as we would like to try and help them get another chance of home life. Please share these when you see them as it will help get their profiles to a wider audience.

In the meantime we would love to see pictures of Hall Green greyhounds enjoying their time at home over the Christmas holidays, it's always great to hear and see how they are getting on.

If you would like to feature in the Happy Homing segment of our website then send us some photo's and a little paragraph giving us the details on how they have been settling in and the things they have enjoyed doing since being a pet.

Happy New Year

So as the end of 2023 arrives at our doors, we won’t reflect too much on what has happened recently but will just wish everyone who has supported us and continues to do so a Very Happy New Year.

It’s upsetting our homing centre became homeless at the beginning of December having homes 128 greyhounds in 2023. We could have done so much more.

We will be back in 2024 and hope to share news on this shortly.

So as we head to Christmas Day and everyone has enjoyed Christmas Eve, we have had the issue of returning a greyhound to kennels.

Obviously with us no longer operating from both kennel locations this has proven to be a worrying time for us.

However we are pleased to say yet again the Greyhound Trust network has pulled together and without any issues we were able to obtain a kennel space with our colleagues at Dudley. Greyhound Trust Dudley

Whilst it’s not the option we were wanting as we didn’t want this greyhound back in kennels we had no choice with it been Christmas Eve.

If anyone has been having any doubts about how the Trust works then you only have to see how the teams across the network have collaborated together in the last 3 weeks to make sure our greyhounds were the priority and all taken care of.

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas, remember it’s not always going to be an easy one for new adopters and greyhounds alike.

It's Christmas Eve....... Children will be going to be early full of excitement about what the morning will bring, will they have all their presents under the tree and will they get everything they were hoping for.

In the Greyhound World, greyhounds will be asleep much earlier and whilst the children dream about their toys the greyhounds will be thinking about all the smells that come with Christmas Dinner. " I wonder if there will be those small sausage things I like and will there be Turkey, Chicken or Beef. Or in fact all of them ' 😃

Well here is Madge from Hall Green in the middle of her dream, thinking about that special table for one Greyhound and filled with all the tasty things she wants tomorrow.

I'm sure it won't all come true but she will definitely have a little special Christmas bowl of food when we sit down for ours.

What will your greyhound have on Christmas Day? we would love to hear from you or better still send us a photo of them enjoying a treat or two or if you give them one like us, a picture of their greyhound Christmas Dinner.

We would like to say a massive thank you to all the hounds and their humans who have been attending Pets at Home in Lichfield over the last 4 weeks, raising awareness of greyhounds as pets as part of the annual Santa Paws Campaign

They have been fantastic ambassadors for the breed and for Hall Green Greyhound Trust

Mentions go out to Jo Bevan, Sharon E, Heather Owen, Neil Owen, Jean and Ray Heap, Liza Shahan and Jane Heyman who helped do some hours yesterday.

It’s very much appreciated to still have this support in all I can describe as difficult circumstances and I hope you were given no problems in doing this for the Branch.

Monies recieves from the scheme gives us the ability of buying things from Pets at Home in 2024 for those greyhounds who are not able to be homed and are continued to be cared for by Hall Green.

Looking for a Home - Swifty

So for any of our page followers who live south of London, this lovely boy is now with colleagues at our Brands Hatch Branch which is near Fawkham.

Be lovely to get news that he has managed to find his home down in Kent.

Below is the profile for him.

Swifty is a very handsome black boy with a delightful personality. He has shown himself to be friendly and confident both around the kennels and when taken off site. He loves being out and about exploring new places with the volunteers and doesn't seem to be phased by anything so far.

He is keen to meet other breeds, although he currently gets quite excited when seeing smaller dogs and dogs running off lead but he just seems to want to join in!

Swifty has been happy to meet people as well and enjoys lots of fuss. He enjoys the company of other greyhounds so could be a companion hound for an existing dog

H💚MING - ALLY

Just wanted to let you know the homing of Ally was completed today by our colleagues at Greyhound Trust Wolverhampton

Ally was transferred to Wolverhampton as her new family could not get to kennels until the 16th.

So that’s 3 of the transferred greyhounds homed, keeping everything crossed for the others.

Greyhound Trust Hall Green branch has had a busy few weeks as we have now moved from our previous kennel sites at Watford Gap and Broadmarsh.

We are pleased to say all the greyhounds from the branch have settled in well to their new surroundings and we would like to thank all our colleagues in Greyhound Trust, especially the teams at kennels who were able to offer our greyhounds new temporary homes whilst they find that forever one. Our Big Shouts go out to Wolverhampton, Brands Hatch, National Greyhound Centre and Harvel (Kent) for all their help.

We are pleased to confirm that Greyhound Trust Hall Green is continuing as a branch. We are currently looking at new kennel options and hope to be able to share news on this in the New Year.

Hall Green branch volunteers are no longer based at Watford Gap or Broadmarsh kennels.

So Petsfoundation have now raised a whopping
£ 941,949 💷 🙌

All money raised in-store during the will be donated to local animal organisations, helping people through pets, including us at Hall Green.

A H💚MING Update - TWISTER 🐾

Twister is a special boy and loved by the volunteers but he had been with us for over 14 months.

He is a lovely boy but always missed out being chosen on viewings because he shied away when being introduced to new people and wouldn't interact with them.

That is until he met Sam and Georgia.

They had been following him on the website and wanted to come and meet him. On the viewing we were amazed he went straight up to Sam first then Georgia for a cuddle and a lean he also had a wag for Billy their homed dog. (Billy was homed from Broadmarsh kennels a little while ago)

They were taken with him, reserved him and took him home last Sunday on phased homing. He can get anxious and panted for pretty much all of his first day with them but this has gradually reduced and he now pants hardly at all unless he experiences something new.

He is doing brilliantly and they have had no issues with him. He is getting on very well with his fur brother Billy, loves his new bed by the radiator (bet he thinks he is in doggy heaven). He sleeps through the night and gives them a warm welcome when they get up in the morning with lots of tail wagging.

It didnt take Sam and Georgia long to fall for his charm and know they wanted to adopt him.

Well done Twister we couldn't be more pleased for you- you are a gorgeous hound. You were just waiting for the right people to come along

Have recently heard he has started roaching!

Every greyhound can find that forever home, it takes longer for some but just look at Twister now 💚

H💚MING - Miller

After a few tough weeks with the re-location of all our greyhounds to other Branches in the Trust network, it was great to find out that one of our greyhounds didn't find the trip south of London that much of an impact.

In fact it's probably the speediest thing at Brands Hatch for some time because the gorgeous Miller only went and got himself a new home through Dun Running Brands Hatch Greyhound Trust.

Marvellous news..

We wish him well and hope he settles in as quickly as he did at the kennels.

Massive thank you to our colleagues at Brands Hatch for the support they have given us over the last week, it's very much appreciated. 🥰

Mischievous Tara finds her H💚ME

Valerie lost her husband last year, Greyhound Alan had been their dog and he became a special companion to her helping her through her loss. Sadly in July this year Alan became ill and she also lost him. It was a difficult time for her and it wasn't until November that she came to Watford Gapp to look for another companion.

She chose Tara, Alan had been a quiet, calm laid back hound but Tara is just the opposite she is very lively, high energy and quite mischievous so she is keeping Valerie on her toes!

Valerie says she is a little monkey and is already becoming a celebratory in the village where they live. Its has only been a short time but its easy to see a strong bond is already forming and Valerie is starting to smile again.

Well done Tara! 🐾💚

Thanks to any of our followers who popped by to Pets at Home Lichfield whilst our volunteers were there on Saturday helping to raise funds for the Santa Paws Christmas Appeal Pets Foundation

From now until Christmas Eve donations can be made whilst you do your shopping and then in the new year as part of the partnership scheme we will receive a share of funding. This enables us to continue to support greyhounds who are not able to be homed.

So if you need to grab those extra bits for your hound then get down to Pets at Home where you can help Charities with some winter funding.

Those of you who already have a greyhound living in their home will certainly resonate with these headlines.

Greyhounds certainly love a routine, having had them in all their working life it certainly continues in their relaxing home life.

Anyone got any unusual quirks or specific times in the day their greyhound never gets wrong, other than the on-time demands for a morning stroke before getting out of bed or the nudge to say its breakfast time or dinner.... We are sure the list will be endless

They certainly don't need clocks..... 😄
