Well Hedgie fans, it’s been a while since our last full update of our inmates, as most have been snoozing or munching their way through the winter months.
Now the weather is changing and holding better at night we are able to finally release some of our inmates back to support gardens with hedgie houses.
We had 55 within our network, during the winter months and thankfully now they are starting to wake and some are off wild and free
we have Petal, Ziggy, Bullet, Stitch just waking up in elsecar. We are very sad to report we lost Dusty though as he didn’t make it. RIP dusty, he fell asleep never to wake but was safe warm and loved.
Shenton, Holly, Susie, Monty,pebbles,
Jerry, Abraham, Lucky, Georgie, Buddy, Fortune, wee Harry, Cash,Dewey, Fitzy and new boy Flynn are all building weight and nearly at the finish line. The rest have all gone back to be wild and free 🤩
In this week we have Aurora, Helen and Harriet from Conisbrough, Cudworth and Brampton. All are very underweight and have internal parasites or need lots of tlc but Harriet is a super late juvvie and only around 4 months old 😳 now on medication and lots of tlc, in the hope we can get them better.

Due to last minute emergencies last weekend we didn’t run our Mother’s Day raffle for the lovely Radley Bag we have, so in between sorting prizes for our amazing Tombola coming up, we will arrange a number raffle for this soon.

Hi, if you brought a hedgie into us in autumn we may be trying to contact you about its release. This is time sensitive as we can only release when the weather is appropriate. So if we have contacted you or you want to know how your hedgie is doing, please reply or message us asap. The sooner they are back out in the wild and not In a cage- the better.

Thank you so so much to Gez the mouse man from The Mouse family that live by the brambles for the food order from Brambles. Gez supports Brambles food and feeds it to the wildlife in his garden, including our little friend Mr Prickles.
We use an astronomical amount of Brambles Pet and Wildlife food at our rescue.
The adult inmates are given the biscuits and when very sick the soft tinned food, but all our Hoglets are given the moist and soft food when they move on from from puppy mousse. It helps to build weight on our tiny little inmates but give them the nutrients they need to thrive, as they need so much care and Brambles is our go-to choice. This can mean throughout our network we use 12 cans upwards a night. 😳
If you are ever unsure of what to support your wild Hedgies with, you can’t go wrong with the brambles range.

What a top bloke our Gez is. A super star, thank you so much for your support and help. Mr Prickles was our first Facebook famous inmate, no pressure to get him well lol. But he’s living happily ever after back in his garden with mum nearby and the mice for friends.
Why not pop over to The Mouse family that live by the brambles page to see these tiny happy little sweeties and the beautiful enriching environment Gez gives them.

Brambles Hedgehog & Wildlife food is the only food I use for our resident hedgehogs available at most pet food stores, online and supermarkets.
I am not being paid for this shoutout all I asked was they donate a quantity of hedgehog food to Debs at the amazing Wath Hedgehog Rescue and Rehabilitation. who are fit to bursting with poorly hedgehogs, which brambles are kindly doing, Wath rescue do an amazing job looking after poorly hedgehogs even mr prickles from our garden was there 3 years ago it was touch and go but as you all know he is still going strong living a happy life in our garden.

Disgraceful behaviour.
Most of you know me behind the scenes at Wath Hedgehog Rescue and Rehabilitation.
As chief prickles debs or Debs Marie Harrison. And I hope anyone that has any issues with the rescue would contact me directly.
I have been rescuing them for nearly 10 years, have a team of 16 and have also trained/mentored 5 others so that they can also rescue and rehabilitate sick or injured hedgehogs over the last 4 years, all whilst working (we won’t go into the health side)
And if you have anything to say about MY refusal to allow a hedgehog to come back to a totally inappropriate garden or house, (in this case) then you should contact me. NOT message the poor carer, hassling her. The carers are volunteers who put their own time and money in to fostering the hedgehogs.
I am the one that has/makes the rules, not the carers. We have standards and rules in place to protect these already vulnerable animals and I will NOT send any back and or leave them in a vulnerable position.
I follow BHPS, The Vale animal Hospital and legislation from the British wildlife rehabilitation council if you want to check why the house is not suitable.

I will refuse any hedgie going back to these dome things.

Hi Hedgie fans, so we’ve been little quiet recently, but chief Prickles debs has had some family issues that need a lot of attention and will do over the next few weeks, But we would all like to wish her mum Jenny all the best with her 9 hour operation on Thursday.
So we have a winner for the Radley watch, well done Joanne B.
We still have this gorgeous a phone bag. Brand new never used. IPhone 13 for size comparison, made from real leather.
Later this month we will be selling a fantastic black number by Radley, with beautifully made Mother’s Day cupcakes, for Julie’s Cakes. This would make any mum smile I’m sure.

All our inmates are doing well, some have woken from hibernation and others are still asleep. But most are still partying most nights🦔💕🦔

So not so good pics to start our updates today hedgie fans.
Another strimmer victim has come into us as us humans just can’t help ourselves when the sun shines, we have to hack and strim our gardens.
If you just took 5 minutes to checked it would save the agony these poor animals are suffering. Hopefully Paulie has been found before infection can set in. Well done to Lorraine who thought he didn’t look right on the camera in the feeding station.

All our other inmates are snoozing or are eat sleep 💩 repeat with some very 💩💩💩 messes from Doreen and Jeff🤦‍♀️

We have our Radley/skechers items up for sale at the moment and in a couple of weeks we have some for treats coming our way from Julie’s Cakes. Now I have tasted these beauties and can highly recommend Julie’s cakes, who are donating to us some Mother’s Day or Easter cake and cup cakes to raise funds. How SWEET is that (sorry couldn’t resist) if you have a need for a celebration cake, I would highly recommend Julie. My own 50th cake, a hedgehog, was absolutely amazing and so so yummy.

Thank you to all our supporters who have made donations recently. We get through an astronomical amount of biscuits this time of year but also need to start stocking up for the Hoglets season.

Under that red/black scab is a massive cut deep into the hedgehogs head. The strimmer also caught his nose and a leg that was broken from the impact. Sadly too much for us to save, so he had to be pts.
Only our second hedgehog in of 2025 and it has to be put to sleep because of us stupid humans. Rip little one, you were safe warm and loved at the end by us.
Please please check the pile of leaves or the shrubs in your garden for wildlife, before you start, it would have only taken 5 minutes and it would have saved this hedgehogs life. 🦔😭🌈🦔

We hope you all had a lovely, romantic valentines hedgie fans, our inmates have sleep 💤 on their minds, as most have or are starting to go into hibernation. The ones that are awake are still partying and making ups lots of 💩 mess, but this is the Quiet time of the year and a rest for us before the madness of spring brings poorly awake Hedgies and the babies. 🤦‍♀️
It’s been a hectic week sorting the auctions this week, but thank you to everyone that took part, we have raised an amazing £225 so far. Our other items will be up at the end of the month so keep an eye on the page for details soon.
Special mentions for Rebecca and Ann on their birthdays this week, Rebecca’s birthday cake is just too cute to eat.
