Thursday I had a juvvie in from Wickersley OITD 257g Male only just breathing and struggling to get up , didn’t have chance to do a 💩 check as he went over the 🌈🦔😢 gave meds and fluids but just too late R I P little one
General
Sadly Snowflake died on Monday after losing loads of weight over 3 days nothing in 💩 sample
Tank was a worry as he refused to eat and wouldn’t come out he was losing weight fast and yet again nothing in the 4 💩 samples I did and sadly passed away Friday R I P Tank 🌈🦔😢
Sonny is upto 543g now and looks a totally different hedgie from getting him in in September at 111g
Ray came into me in October at 277g and now a massive 743g and doing good with no worries at all
Gousto was doing well and started with horrible 💩 so a check was done and he as lungworm so meds started
Not been a good week for me with 🦔🌈

Update from Lesley. Tina had a tiny cough the other morning so she was checked over by Sean. He found a tiny bit of cap in her poo so gave her some meds. She seems to be okay now. Still in luxury in my back bedroom but I still get the impression she's not totally happy. Tut, they can be such fusspots 🤣

Update from Chelle
No change with my lot. Poppet is still snoozing. Norman is still making a mess, and Rascal is making good progress, but he is an incredibly shy hog, so I rarely see him.

Christa
I have Gilmore! 😍🦔 Doing super well, very cheeky, putting on weight now 614g! ⭐️

Henrietta 619
Odin 656
These two are the slowest gainers I’ve ever had😏

Rebecca
Francis, Kirkby, Diane, Rupert, Conker, mad max and Cathy are all eat sleep poo repeat with odd party nights. Kirby is still healing and Francis is still hanging onto a tiny bit of ringworm, but other than that a good week.

Chief Prickles Debs
Firstly, we would like to welcome Anna to the cleaning crew. Anna is participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Brinze award, so she has decided to volunteer with us.
Anna is already a junior release garden for us, but this gives her hand a on experience of caring for them before they reach rescue
Stage. 🦔⭐️🦔

Monday we had little Billie 330g come into us. OITD and really struggling. Wath Medivets checked him over and he has a broken hip.
Bring an all important female and after discussing all options , myself and the vets have decided to manage her with pain and
The capillaria parasites she has, give her a chance. If any changes or we feel she is suffering in any way, she will go back and be 🌈 . So for now everything crossed for Billie.
Shirley came in Thursday at at tiny 235g. She was skinny and OITD. Poor Shirley had capillaria and pas d over the hedgie 🌈bridge on Wednesday . She was just too poorly for us to save but she was safe, warm and loved 😢🌈
Friday saw Bert/Beatrix come in at 348g and out in the day. Poor hedgie was frozen and not responding well . After fluids and a lovely warm in the incubator, he/she passed
Over the bridge. Too late to save you little one but you were safe warm and loved🌈😢
Inmates
Maybel, Hetty, Michael and Sylvia have had a fantastic week despite battling nasty parasites. They have all added over 150g since last Thursday. Well done to the Quads. 🦔⭐️
Lady has been for a check up of her leg and amputation site. Nothing bad but we do need the swelling to go down. Come on lady🦔🙏
Sniff is a super good eater and has made great progress. He has finished meds now so eat sleep 💩 repeat for Sniff⭐️

If anyone would like to donate to the rescue we are short on brambles dry and semi moist biscuits, purina 1 kitten biscuits (pink bag) any meat/poultry cat biscuits.
Every bag of food, every newspaper all helps us help the hedgies.

We will also be at the Wath Christmas light switch on, with a stall full of hedgehog gifts and crafts.

I know lots of you have cameras set up in your gardens🦔👍🦔

🏅Competition time! 📣 Help us spot hedgehogs in our camera images and you could win a NatureSpy camera.

Teams of volunteers have placed our cameras at sites all over Britain, and now we need citizen scientists like you to help by spotting hedgehogs and other wildlife in the images generated.

We need to know what species are in the photos, so we rely on volunteers called ‘Spotters’ to help us identify what animals are pictured. This helps us to know which pictures to analyse. It’s good fun, and you never know what species will show up!

Fancy having a go? 🏆👀 The more images you classify between now and 31st December, the more entries into the prize draw, so the better your chances of winning! Find out more 👇

The week started with the loss of little Russel, which shocked me as he seemed to be doing so well since coming in, Sorry Margi, I couldn’t save him 🌈😢
Sniff came in Sunday from of our big hedgie fans Lynn Walton in wombwell , who wondered if sniff was walking “high” (this is caused by pain from parasites)
Sniff has given clear poo samples for 4 days before we finally found capillaria and lung worm. He is now being treated for both. Come on little Sniff 👍

Little Ruby is doing so well! She’s gaining weight and has put on 54 grams this week and now weighs 632g. She’s so much happier now she’s indoors where it’s nice and warm. The shed was far too cold for this tiny lady 🦔💛🦔 (super proud of Joanne, your both doing fantastically) cp

Rachel (Barnsley)
Gradually gaining weight are Odin and Henrietta, both just under 620g at last weigh in, weighing them once or twice a week now as no need to do daily

Little Diane is a yoyo but adding
Francis hasn’t been out of his bed for 3 nights,
Kirkby nearing 1kg and wound healing nicely,
Rupert/Ruby is one messy hog, big eater bigger 💩
Last night Conker and mad max came Conker didn’t eat but is intermittently eating as starting the big sleep,
Mad max drove me mad trying to escape by scratching his way out and trashed his cage 💩 everywhere…….

Helen- (Wombwell)
Cath, Marble and Spike have made good gains this week. All now looking nicely plump and behaving quite well, although Cath likes to stick her 💩 to the cage sides, grrrr.
Tiggy is still struggling a bit with lungworm and weight is yo-yoing. 2nd dose of meds this weekend will hopefully sort him out. He's a real cutie, curious and lively so 🤞he's soon on the mend.

Update from Chelle.

There's not much happening this week.

Poppet has decided to hibernate and has been asleep for the last 4 nights.

Norman is still making a mess and causes chaos every night.

Rascal has gained most of his spines back, and finally, his fur is coming back, too.

Part 2

Update from Chelle

It's been a sad, emotionally draining week with 3 hoggies giving up the fight 🌈
On Saturday, I lost Riley 🌈. It was a complete shock as he seemed to be doing ok.

Then, on Sunday morning, I found Rowan had also gone 🌈. Another unexpected loss.

And then last night, I found PS3 had gone 🌈.

Now, onto more positive news. After weeks of treatment for ringworm, Rascal's spines have started to re-grow. He is eating well and gaining weight and has just moved into a big boy cage 😊

And, not much change from Norman and Poppet. Treatment continues on each of their skin issues. For big fellas at 1.5kg, they are remarkably tidy 😂

Jo @ Oakwell Updates;

Released early in the week was Davey, good luck 🦔

Admittances;
Fred came in from Christine and Rob who made a donation which was appreciated many thanks. Fred has been attacked by possibly a dog and looked like he had lost an eye, but antibiotics reduced swelling and he has both eyes 😍

Susan is a scruffy hog🙄 and loves to 💩 in her feed dish.

Sammy 🙄 very dirty and trashes cage within 5 mins and slow with weight gain.
Jim has a new hobby to see how high he can 💩
Hannah has now finished her Lungworm treatment 🤞and gaining.
Toni, still having baths and sprays for skin issues, 💩 check today as she did cough as I was in room, of course after she had been cleaned out so waiting for 💩

Newspapers would be appreciated as I am running low and these hogs go through them at an alarming rate, can collect from most Barnsley areas.

Lesley

Update from Becci

Peppy left to go back to Rebecca to settle in an outdoor hutch so Elm arrived in his place Elm struggled the first couple of days but finally had a big gain of over 40g yesterday so is now 423g and last night showed his fabulous nesting skills by shredding the entire floor of the cage and filling up his shoe box nest

Kit is steadily gaining and close to 500g now, he is the cleanest hedgehog I’ve had to date👍

Rebecca’s updates

My updates Peppy didn’t do well outside so back in and eating well 572g

Once again thank you for all donations given really does help 🦔🦔🦔

Update from Kate

Saffy has had a good week gaining weight everyday currently 554g, Saffy likes order in her crate, food in one bit 💩 in another and nest in another. Makes it nice and easy to keep clean. Saffy is not keen on being handled and grunts alot when being weighted, tried a half hearted escape attempt mid week, i think she secretly likes the pampered life!!

Update from Michelle
Conker is feeling better and seems to be doing well.
Mad Max has been with me a little over a week now. Apart from 1 night he is gaining weight well. He is a messy hedgehog and likes to think of his food and water bowls as his toilets 🤢
I am happy with how both of them are doing 😀

Update from Helen in Wombwell
Cath has now started to create daily 💩 wall art for me to admire, grrr, but is eat, sleep, repeat, as are Marble and Spike.
Tiggy had a few days of losing weight. A 💩 check showed he had lungworm so now being treated. Hopefully caught early and he should soon recover.
