Please please check before you start work on your garden.
Poor George is a hand reared rescued Hoglet, this year and has had his head Strimmed. Not a good start to freedom for this little chap.
We are hoping we can keep him going and survive his horrendous and painful wound to be wild and free again.
Well done to Steve for getting to us for the urgent care he needs.
Thank you to Medivet as always for your help and assistance.

Debs-wath
H came in last Friday but sadly went over the hedgie rainbow on Sunday. Rip H, just too late to help you😢 🌈
Hoggy came in on Tuesday. After poo checks he was found to have parasites lung worm and round worms. He went over the hedgie rainbow bridge Friday 😢🌈
Pedro came in Thursday from Medivets wath at 186g a struggling juvvie. Pedro was found this morning gone for now obvious reasons why. Poor Pedro 😢🌈
Owen found Ezra the hedgie stuck in a box in the garden, in Hoyland on Friday . She is a lovely female at 739g but she has capillaria, so she has started meds. 👍
Peppy came in from Medivets wath 175g with a scapegoat nose and poorly paw.
Antibiotics for infected foot and poo checks . 👍
Inmates
Kirby is fighting infection and a very sore head, after his near death experience with a bloody garden strimmer. Please check before you strim folks and spread the word.
😢
Fred is nearing the end of his treatment and hopefully can go out to a hedgie carer soon. Well done Fred👍
Bob has had an up and down week. 1 minute he looks super sorry for himself and the next he’s up and giving me a cheeky look from under his blanket. 🤣
Hedgie hog still looks bald and unhappy. Hopefully he will better after a warm bath later ☺️
Alan had mad good progress with more fur and spines back. 👍
Dustin is doing better now his week and made a tiny bit of progress 👍

Rebecca
Wheatley is finally at release weight yay⭐️
Sharon
Blue and Bramley are now wild and free and Harry will be free tomorrow ⭐️

Katherine -
Miss Tiggy is a good inmate, not too much partying and making progress 👍

🦔🥰Inmate Updates/New Intakes🥰🦔
Part 1

Kim has reported that miles is slowly but surely gaining weight.👍

Cheryl has Lucky who is doing fantastic from the tiny golfer she was on intake👌🏻

Sean Kimberworth Park Updates
Domino who I took in from Debs is a pain in the prickles, he wrecks his cage twice a night from partying and have to go down and sort him out , tipping his bed up and getting on top of it , but eating well and gaining the grams he needs

Lucky is a good clean inmate but up and down with weights but eating everything I put her out , poo check needed I think

Milly she as started to realise that the food I give her is the only thing she gets and starting to munch her way through it and beginning to gain the grams , hopefully won’t take her long to get to release weight

Update from Chelle
A new patient arrived on Thursday, found by Lisa, laying out in the day by her feeding station. Named Spud, he tested positive this morning for internal parasites, so a course of treatment has started. We need fingers crossed for the lad, but thank you to Lisa for getting him help.

Still here, and being a pain, is Poppet. Just when I thought his skin issues were under control, they appeared again. So, I will keep going.

Big Norman is doing ok. He does like to wreck his cage every night, but I am hoping he will soon be ready to go.

Finally, I still have little PS3, who is the last of Pippin's babies. He is making progress, but it's really slow-going. He really needs to buck his ideas up, but I shouldn't complain. There was a time when I thought he would never reach 200g, but this morning, he hit the 240g mark.

Jo @ Oakwell Updates;
Sadly Bristles passed yesterday afternoon RIP 🌈🦔

Admittances;
Monday I had Davie from New Lodge, well done to finders son for advice on contacting a rescue. He has a skin condition and loosing spines so fingers crossed for him.
Friday I had 2;
Rubble, named by Jacob finders son who did really well last night and 💩 will be checked today.
From Staincross, Tommy was brought in and he has lost a large amount of weight overnight so expecting to find nasties in 💩 sample.

General;
Sonic is still making good progress with his wound care and fingers crossed will be ready to go soon 😁
Lesley, she is only due her final lungworm treatment this week and should be good to go to Cudworth.
Fluffy 😍 this chap is up and down with weight but doing ok.
Fireball 😍 gorgeous chap who's weight is increasing.
Henrietta, 🥰 great progress this week and fingers crossed she keeps it up.
Savannah 🥰 party time last night and she trashed her cage, but not bothered as long as she enjoyed herself.
Cricket, he is grumpy with me as on release diet and joined cage trashing last night. He should be good to go in a few days.
Bailey 😍 gorgeous but nosey and watches my everymove, he is ready to go but not at weight yet, total escape artist.
Finally, Rupert 😍🥰 excellent progress this week and he is now at 162g. He refuses syringe feeds and looks after himself, also a potential escape artist.

🦔🥰Inmate updates/New Imates🥰🦔

Rebecca-
Wheatley is fully healed and doing great. Well done lad👍
Marigold and marbles are both fully on dry food and gaining slowly. 👍
New intake Dumbo lost 1g last night but it’s possible that she is a “clanger” as she has larger than usual eyes, ears and snout, with a high brow. Clangers are very hard to rehabilitate so we willl do all we can🙏

Helen
Dustin is making small, steady gains and is still on his best behavior. Now at 290g, I'm sure he'll be having teenage tantrums soon enough. 👍

Jo, Oakwell Updates;

Released yesterday Sophie into a wonderful garden ... she had the talk about road safety and wishing her all the best with Jenny.

Admitted;

Bristles 😍 tidy hog and gaining weight, on treatment for lungworm.
Savannah another 😍 who loves home comforts and messy in her bedroom area.
Cricket 🥰 gorgeous hog who is making progress.
Bailey, has learnt how to create wall art with 💩 🙄 and very nosey.

Sean- Kimberworth Park Updates

Blake went back wild and free on Monday after his lungworm problem and thriving again in my garden

Milly is being a little bu**er after going in her massive cage she refused to eat but now starting to eat the Brambles wet I tempted her with come on Milly at this rate you will be with me over winter

Lucky who was brought in by Gez the mouse man is doing great after the treatment for lungworm and now eats anything and everything I give her , carry on little girl and you will be wild and free in the mouse garden with all the luxuries

Updates from Chelle.

We have 3 releases already this week, with 2 of the pip squeaks from the disturbed nest going wild and free.

Joining them in the big, wild world, we also have Winston, another that came in as a hoglet. All 3 were released last night.

Peter is being released tonight. He has been a short-term resident after injuring a toe. No issues, and piling on the grams so he can be returned to the wild.

Still in residence is little PS3. He is the runt of the pip squeak family and finally broke the 200g barrier this week. It's slow going, a few grams a night, but any gain is a positive.

Big Norman is still on treatment for skin issues. This big, old fella creates havoc overnight, and I am surprised my neighbours haven't complained about the noise he makes. 😮

Poppet also has skin issues, and his left eye is very stubborn, but he seems to be improving, albeit slowly. He is the complete opposite of Norman and keeps his cage neat and tidy. 😊

Dumbo or special hedgie

Blake who was a release in my garden had to come back in last Wednesday due to having lungworm so was put on treatment straight away , was breathing funny and had yellow/green snot 🤮 but now is on the mend and can finally breath through her nose and now all clear of the snot so after 2 more days of treatment she can go wild and free back in my garden 🏡🦔

Debs-
Momma came in Tuesday and at 1043g was quickly assessed over 24hours , clean poo checks for both done, so she went back home the next night👍

Part 1
Miles is doing well, eating and climbing the weight chart program slowly but surely👍

Sir Gerald of Killamarsh is now 889g but still signs of lung worm. Hopefully he will be sorted this week and be wild and free soon
Not much change to his chest this week👍
Little Lucky
427 gms - doubled his finding weight since coming in. He takes every opportunity to try and escape from the scales🤦‍♀️

From Rebecca-
Wheatley 314g, keep yo yoing her weight but looks like ringworm is lessening……
Marigold 207g doing fantastic on her breakfast lunch and dinner lol. She’s a wake up type of girl whenever I enter the room but still balls up when I pick her up to weigh her.
Marbles 187g- we’re gaining slowly but surely and we don’t do humans…….. we ball up and stay balled…….. 👍

Helen sent in-
Dustin is a little cutie. He’s making good weight gains so Helen is pleased with his progress so far👍

Wicket is now at release weight and will be wild and free this weekend yay. Well done Michelle and thank you to Galina for giving him a home ⭐️

Updates from Chelle.

Poppet is being a pain. Just when I thought his skin issue had cleared, he had a flare-up around his left eye. More treatment commenced.

Winston is at release weight, finally, and so he will be wild and free very soon.

Big fella Norman is still being treated for skin issues. His right eye has cleared nicely, but he has dry patches over his nose that need to clear.

Heidi has finally got with the program and is steadily gaining weight. Another few days, and she may get there.

Little runt PS3 is ok, but only gaining weight at a few grams each night. He looks so tiny compared to his siblings outside.

Mama Pippin was released during the week. This little lady did a fantastic job, keeping her babies healthy. Well done, Pippin. Stay safe.

The 2 remaining pip squeaks, PS1 and PS2 in the outdoor enclosure, are doing fine. They are out every night, performing for the camera, and don't seem fazed by mama's disappearance.

New in this week, I have Peter, who was taken to my local vets with a wound on his foot. Luckily, it is superficial, and after a clean up, looks fine. He is only a little fella, so he will need some feeding up before he is big enough to be released.

Margaret is super pleased with little summer, she’s now out in a an area where we can check on her until she goes fully wild soon. 👍

Happy bank holiday all, PLEASE leave out water for the wildlife, it’s going to be a warm day so they will be suffering. 🙏🦔🙏

Another busy few days since our last post on Saturday morning, so let’s welcome our new inmates.
We had 2 very sick hedgie come in from elsecar that both had flystrike and were laid out where hoomans obviously past and left.
Sadly both we beyond our geld and passed away quite quickly, minus flystrike , snug safe and loved.
If you see a hedgie out in the day on a dog walk or anywhere. Please pick it up straight away, check for injuries, if visible injuries found , take to a vets. It is FREE to the public to take in. However , if the rescue takes it in we have to pay for the treatment/medication , depending on the vet.🌈🦔🌈
2 poorly hedgies from kimberworth came in, 1 has a prolapse the other lung worm.
The hedgie with the prolapse isn’t good at all. Pain meds and rest will help in the short term but pts will be the most likey outcome.
1 hedgie came in from Brierley as it had been accidentally locked in a garage for 3/4 days. The poor little might was severely dehydrated and starving, but we have to treat the dehydration first and slowly (everything crossed) hope we can get her back before her organs shut down.
She has made the night, been up for water and is looking so much better. She can have a nice lunch of soft wet food to start hopefully gain her weight back.
Flo came in from Wickersley OITD so still waiting for a poo sample, she’s off her food and not well poor Flo😢
Domino was found wandering in a road and is off for a vet check as he is bleeding when pooing. He’s a cutie and trying so hard . Keep going Domino 🙏

Thank you to all the finders for sorting a rescue for these very poorly hedgehogs.
You are all hedgie hero’s.

Part 2

Sharon-
Bob has had an amazing turn around this week and gone from not eating at the beginning of the week, to scoffing away and now ready for release. Well done ⭐️
Sean-
Wallace is now wild and free back in kimberworth. Yay ⭐️
Blake is still snotty and chesty from the lung worm but is getting all the meds and tlc we’ve got 🙏
Milly is being a good inmate, eating well and making progress 👍

Chelle-
Hopefully, Poppet will be released soon after one final check that his skin issues have cleared completely. This fella was around 450g when he came in and will leave at over 1.2kg.

Winston, my slow but steady, is now just over 440g, so not much longer for this lad.

Big Norman has poorly eyes and very dry skin on his face. He is getting daily pampering to clear this up. He is like a bulldozer, and as soon as his evening meal is served, he pushes his way under the plastic ramp, all 1.4kg of him!

Little Heidi came in last Sunday, found out in the day. Nothing was particularly wrong, except she was too small to be out on her own. At 383g this morning, she just needs to add a bit more weight, and she can go.

A bit of drama from the outdoor enclosure, housing Mama Pippin and her 3 pip squeaks. The runt, little PS3, was way behind her siblings and lost 11g in 3 days. She was 129g, and her siblings were 250g+. A decision was taken to move her into the hogspital where she is being monitored and receiving top-up feeds. She weighed 141g this morning. Her siblings, outside, are doing great. They weighed in at 362g and 328g this morning. Mama Pippin was 1.2kg. I think she has done her job well and will be released shortly.

Jo-
Transfer; hognapped from Wath base little Savannah, shes so 😍 and a tidy hoglet. Adding weight steady.

Spike and Min are both now waiting for finders to return from holidays for release.

Fluffy 😍 has turned a little picky with food this and did have green 💩 the beginning of the week so monitoring closely.

Strimmer Sonic was showing signs of Lungworm, he is now medicated. This poor 🦔 really has been in the wars but keeps fighting 😁

Lesley is adding weight and has a sassy side to her 😂

Sophie is now just adding weight to release weight and can go back to the wild 😁

Cricket is loving life in a big hog cage and adding weight.

Bailey 🥰 super cute and in next couple of days will be transferred to big hog cage, he has also mastered the art of 💩 up cage walls 😂

Henrietta 🥰 super cute and another that doesn't like my turn down service.

Savannah 🥰🥰 super cute and very tidy in her cage gaining slowly but nicely.

Thank you to all our finders for getting the hedgehogs to rescue, you are all hedgie hero’s.
Thank you to everyone that has donated either through onsite, Amazon wish list.
